Bad landing

It has been months of training and the new soldiers are now officially marine corps. They were distributing to various bases across the country and Langford and Jack were lucky to be sent to the same base. It was soo unfortunate that at that same time, there was a war going on and men were urgently needed in war zones. The need for men was high and because of this, new arrivals were selected base on their performance from boot camp. They were selected base on their marksmanship and on their combat skills. Jack was very skilled in combat and Langford was was a good marksman. All the new arrival were confronted by the General. "I know you just arrived but the need for men is high. There is an ongoing war in Iraq and if you hear your name, you have been selected for your skills and you should go pack up. Four men to a chopper. You will fly over to the base in Iraq and you will be given orders from there. Now listen, this is what we trained you for. Lives are on the line so pot your heart into this. Good luck soldiers and may the good lord be with you",the commander said to the new arrivals.

The names of the soldiers were mentioned and they went to the weapon room to equip themselves. Jack went through his things to find the water bottle that belonged to his mom and filled it up. Jack and Langford went to the same chopper so that they could be together. When Jack arrived at the chopper,he was holding the water bottle in his hand. Langford saw the bottle then said to him in a funny manner,"What the hell is that, that water bottle two times the size of my head. What can you possibly be carrying in there, the Pacific Ocean?" Jack laughed then said to Langford,"You know water is very important. My mom always used to tell me that a man can survive without food but not without water. To be honest,I wish I had a bigger bottle. They were four soldiers on the chopper, including Jack, Langford,Jeff and Vanessa, the only female soldier among them Jack felt something for Vanessa the moment he saw her. They entered the chopper and introduced themselves. They were ready for take off. "They're coming. Take them all down. Their movement is tracked and locations have been sent to you right now. Take them down before they hit landing",Major general Ben Stack ordered. "Ok sir, consider it done",Umar, one of the heads of the terrorist group they were fighting to take down. Major general Ben Stack stood behind the terrorist group and did all he could to make sure they had the upper hand. The soldiers didn't know they were flying into their deaths.

"Buckle up boys, welcome to the flight of your lives,we are going on a vacation ",the pilot said to the soldiers then took off. When the chopper took off and they were in the air,Jack began to write. Vanessa noticed and asked him," What are you doing Jack?" "I'm writing a bucket list. It helps me relax and not loose hope or something. It's complicated ",Jack replied. "Oh I see",Vanessa replied. They were over the desert when s late report came in. A late report that had their lives on the line. A report came from the base in Iraq that the sky was a no fly zone and all choppers should go for landing or return back to base. "All choppers should go for landing or return to base,I repeat, all choppers should go for landing or return to base. The sky is declared a no fly zone for now. If you land, we will have soldiers out there to look for you by tracking the gps of the chopper soo stay close to your chopper", the commander said to the pilots. As soon as the commander got off the line, the two choppers flying beside them were blasted by rockets. No one would have survived that explosion. From a distance,Jack saw a rocket approaching them and shouted,"Look out",the pilot managed to tilt the chopper a little bit they were still hit, bringing them to the ground. The chopper caught fire and they managed to get out of it very fast with their bags and arms and kept a distance away. Jack also managed to get his water bottle.

"What do we do now",Jack asked. "We need to get the gps in the chopper. I'll try disconnecting it without turning it off. It might take a few minutes. With the gps, they'll know we are alive and come find us",the pilot replied. Langford didn't see that to be a good idea and thought it was safe to stay away from the chopper. "For all I know, when a bird crashes like this,it explodes so I guess this chopper will explode any time from now. So I think we should stay away from the chopper ",Langford said to the pilot. ". But this is our only hope", the pilot replied as he went on to disconnect the gps from the chopper. The others stayed away from the chopper and watched him. In a few minutes, the chopper exploded, killing the pilot and pushing all of them to the ground. Meanwhile back on base, their location was known then it finally disappeared, indicating the chopper was down. "We've lost them all sir", one of the officers behind the computer said to the commander. "Noooo!, I cant just give on on my men like that. Send a drone down there to make sure. They sent a drone to make sure but the black smoke from the chopper filled the sky and not live officer was noticed. "I'm sorry sir, there is no one down there,as you can see your self" the officer said to the commander again. The commander finally gave up on his soldiers. Jack and his mate stood there hopelessly as they thought of what to do next. Jeff suggested they stay close to the chopper till someone come and find them but Jack disagreed saying ,"No,I think we should move. No one is coming to find us. It's eighth we stay here or die or we move and die. It kinda makes no sense but we'll die weather we stay or not.
