Chapter 185 Maja

Faye's howl of despair reverted throughout the mansion. Her knees grew weak and she fell to the ground. Her hands fanatically swooped over the missing floor. Searching for traces of her dead father. But she wouldn't find anything. Ragnar didn't even leave a trace of her father. Letting Nightwater completely devourer him.

"Why, why, why.." she repeated like a broken record. Her voice was growing raspy with each word. At the end she could only cough. Her tears had tried, leaving behind a face of sorrow.

"What happened to you?" Ragnar asked. After an hour of silence, he snapped back to reality and hurried to Faye's side. Oblivious of his own actions.

Faye tried to push Ragnar away, she felt disgust by being hugged by her father's killer. But Ragnar thought it was just her way to grieve and kept hugging her. No matter how much she struggled.

"Let go of me!" she screamed and Ragnar finally let go of her. Faye fell to the floor, due to the lack of restrains.

A red liquid poured out of Faye's nose. She pushed herself up and glared at Ragnar with hatred. A hatred fueled by grief and pain.

"You had no right! He might not have been the best father, but he was my father!" she screamed at the oblivious Ragnar. Who covered from her relentless anger.

'I thought, I thought she liked me!' Ragnar thought to himself and said. "I don't know why you're saying all of this, but I'll leave if that's what you want."

"Leave, leave and never come back!" she screamed at him and Ragnar left.

He felt great remorse, be he didn't have any form attachment to her. So when she berated him and told him to leave and never come back. He happily agreed after some minor convincing.

Days passed quickly. Ragnar walked and walked. No food was needed, neither was rest. The only thing left was walking. So he walked and walked.

He endlessly fought himself. He showed more and more signs of being someone else. Yet it didn't worry him, because he would forget the next second. It was common for him to randomly stop, smile and continue walking. Sometimes he even said things like. "I'm grinding my resistance baby." these words greatly confused his stalker. A short haired stranger with red hair and red eyes. Completely covered by some kind of cloak.

Ragnar spent his days in absolute solitude, literally. He was a dark dome of darkness walking around. His dome also grew from all the time he was using it. But one day his stalker had enough and approached him.

The reflection of light from outside the dome hit his sphere of darkness and he noticed a dark clothed figure standing next to him. Ragnar's reaction was justifiable. He jumped back, canceled his aura and got into fighting stance.

"The redhead raised its hand and its cloak accidentally fell. A young, short haired girl was what Ragnar saw when he canceled his aura. Stupefied by what he saw, he calmed his nerves and said.

"What do you want?" Ragnar asked.

"Hi, I'm Maja, I believe we haven't officially met!" she said with an upbeat voice.

"I'm Ragnar, now excuse me for my rudeness, but your response didn't answer my question." Ragnar said calmly.

"Well, to meet you of course!" Maja said.

Ragnar was stupefied again and paused for a second. "Do I know you? Did Bus-kun, the best celestial of reincarnation send you?"

"No silly, why would bus-kun, the best All Knowing of reincarnation know me?" she said, seeming hurt by Ragnar's question.

"All knowing, what are those, are they all knowing like their name implies. Does BUS-KUN know you're here?"

"Of course not silly, Bus-kun has no idea! Contrary to their names they aren't all knowing. They're just corrupted servants of a selfless being who sacrificed itself for the greater good!" Maja said.

"What do they know then?" Ragnar asked Maja.

"Wow, good question cutie. They can't know anything about beings in the seventh dimension and higher, so they make contradictions through mortals they meet. Very simple really."

"Maja, not to be a killjoy, but I have one tiny question. What about a walking fish with weird arms and a kobold face screams cute to you?" Ragnar asked.

"Not you silly." She said pointing at all of Ragnar. "You!" She said again, this time pointing at all of Ragnar again.

"I see." Ragnar said, not 'see'ing at all.

"You really remind me of someone. My girlfriend from earth. Well minus the upbeat personality!" Ragnar said.

"Well, my apologies. It has been so, so so long since I was free!" she said seriously and lightheartedly at the same time.

"Were you locked up in prison?" Ragnar asked her.

Maja smiled reminiscently and said "Sort of, my grandfather convinced an evil dictator to not kill me. But instead of killing me, the dictator trapped me until some troubling things disappeared and the time was right."

"Well I won't pry into your business. So why did you want to see me?"

"Because you're cool, so...can I come along with you?" she asked full of hope.

"Fine, why not." Ragnar answered. He had no reason to say no, she seemed nice enough.

"Thanks, you won't regret this, most likely!" she said squealing with excitement.

The duo kept walking while talking. Slowly they grew more comfortable with each other. Ragnar's constant shift in behavior seemed to have stopped and he was back to 'normal'.

Maja was humming, when she suddenly stopped. "Are you also dealing with family problems? I can help you out if you want. They can't bully you with me here! We can go kill them, then we can kill all families. While were at it we should remove the concept of family all together shouldn't we?" she asked happily.

"What are you talking about?" Ragnar asked.

"Oh right, they're going hard at you. Several Time Raptors have to work together to contain your powers ever so slightly. Let me help you!" she said and touched Ragnar's forehead, then tracing her silky fingers down Ragnar's neck with an exotic expression.

"There you are, the cute you. Hi Ragnar!" Maja said, while Ragnar looked her dead in her eyes, with his fish eyes, combined with a kobold face.

"My my, aren't you peculiar. Who are you really, Maja?" Ragnar said and leaned against a tree.

"A friend, but not family! Family's disgusting!" she proclaimed.

"Yeah, sure thing. As to answer your question before, I want to do this a bit more, I need to max out my resistance against these bastards. That way the same thing can't happen again!"

"Sure, want to kill them afterwards and destroy the concept of family?" Maja asked again. Clearly hellbent on destroying families and whatnot.

"Maybe, anyways are you leaving or staying with me?" Ragnar asked, sensing his eminent sealing.

"Sure, I wouldn't want to miss the beauty of Nightwater, uncle!"

"Uncle?" Ragnar asked confused.

"Sorry, slipped my words. You just remind me of someone, just a tiny bit!" she answered.

After that Ragnar became brain dead again. The duo walked and walked. Ragnar fought of all enemies over and over again.

"Ragnar, do you have a system?" Maja asked.

"Yes, how did you know?" Ragnar asked Maja. He was placing another stick in a small fire, when she asked the question.

"Well, you reek system you know. It's part of your mind in a way. So, how's that going. Is the system being nice?"

"As a matter of fact Maja, the system version of me is always nice. Even if it's slightly bugged right now. Nothing I can't fix later."

"You're back?" Maja asked, shocked.

"Of course I am, do I look like a slacker to you. My resistance training is over. They can't even try to influence me anymore. So let's get the hell out of here and meet my friends, not family!" Ragnar said, trying to make her understand that they're not his family, just race.

"So you don't want to kill them?"

"No, no I don't!" Ragnar answered.

"Fine, but if they try anything they won't like what'll do to them!" Maja said.

Ragnar slowly started breaking down the barrier of time to return to the bastards who sent him here. When he was done, Maja was already gone, so he jumped there alone. Only to appear in the room he was in before, with a new person there, Maja.

"So you all are the Time Raptors, hopefully not all that's left, right?" Maja said and they eyed her with suspicion. "My father said most of your kind died, but that's not true, a bunch of you are left. Thankfully you don't behave like a family, but like a flock instead! Maybe I won't have to clean all of you!" She said, smiling at the Time Raptors around her.

"That's enough! Ragnar this girl can not follow you on the next task, she can stay here. You will he facing yourself. A better version of yourself. Not the ones inside you, but you, a perfected version of you. So you either get lucky and defeat yourself or you grow into perfection and make the fight a fifty fifty." One of the Time Raptors said.

"Don't be so mean! Can I at least watch?"

"Sure, but don't forget, we aren't to be trifled with little girl. The alpha's are much stronger then you. So don't think you're special because you defeated newly adopted elders!" One of the elders said. It seemed it was angered by the girl's sabotage.

"Let's get started then, Ragnar, good luck!"

Ragnar appeared in a red world, full of magma. Scorching magma poured everywhere.

"Welcome, welcome!" A copy of Ragnar said.

Ragnar studied the copy for some seconds, then he asked. "Didn't Cronus say that I'm only one? Why are you here, you're clearly not a copy. So what are you?"

"Well good question. I'm you, a copy of a possible future you, based on your achievements and actions that you might have in the future. I'm a clone, made out of something you might become. So I also have your powers. Anyways you won't understand. Let's just get started!" it told Ragnar and Ragnar didn't complain.

"Now for your first theoretical and practical lesson!" old Ragnar said. While punching Ragnar in the face. "You are a Sun Dinosaur and a Time Raptor. It changes the way you do things my dear friendo. In your Sun Dinosaur form you overwhelm beings with your element, that being Nightwater. Now, can you tell the problem already. Nightwater isn't pure existence. No, you will be different. You will actually have to fight normally too. But don't threat. I will teach you how to deal with all three species!"

A rope of Nightwater appeared around Ragnar's neck and it froze him. "First things first. Your power to stop the flow of time. You see Ragnar you are nigh omnipresent, only three beings are true omnipresent, while two are nigh omnipresent. The writer and you. What that means is that no matter what time, what shit done to you, nothing will change. For you are the current version of you and as time moves with you, no time loop can occur. So if any change was to happen, or someone tried to meddle with you in the past, the you now would be there, not the you then. You and only one you can exist. This also means that things like removing memories and such will not work. It's infinitely connected with Nightwater and you are the Nightwater. Not some personification of it. You are the Nightwater itself. Now onto the important part. You are the only being, other then the infinites that can kill an echo and kill the current version of that echo. I will teach you how and many more things. Sadly the one you need to kill is protected from such crude method!"
