Burial

CHAPTER NINETEEN

It was the Joan's burial day, visitors from far and near graced it. Rivals turned friends. The compound was filled with a large number of people. It was the day Jim didn't want to witness.

He was frustrated. He put his emotions aside to make sure that the event went as planned. He consoled himself.

Dignitaries graced the event.

It was time to pull her coffin into the 6ft digged ground, Umaru was touched as he wept silently. Diploma Group workers were all in black outfit.

It was time for last words from her loved ones.

"My daughter...nothing can replace you my dear.. I have lost both my wife and now you my beloved. I love you always. Your death remains a shock to me... Continue to rest in the bossom of the Lord" Mr Felix wept bitterly as he said. Later other family members came and said few words beside Joan's coffin before Jim's turn.

"My love and my friend! What do I have to say? I can't think straight without you in my thoughts. The pain I feel is like a rage of unquenchable fire. The vacuum can't be filled .

You deserved to live! You are my angel! Since the deed is done, God will welcome you and you will sit by his side because you have the purest soul. You remember that song we sing together

"You are my smile...

My everything...

Have I told you told you lately how much you mean to me...

That you are beautiful, that you are sweet...

Have I told you lately...

That I love you..."

Jim shouted after singing this song with tears. He consoled himself.

"I will remember you always" Jim quietly said and went away.

There was a sad music playing in the background and people couldn't help but weep.

The undertakers lowered the coffin into the grave and after a while the event came to an end.
