Chapter 56: Scott's Promise

-Molly POV-

For the first time, dinner was a rather tense affair, and I couldn't understand why. It got worse when it seemed as if I was the only one that noticed dinner was tense.

Scott and his father discussed work, and Paul listened with rapt attention while my mother talked about Paris.

But he would go silent and clipped whenever I spoke. By the time dinner was over, I was happy to get away from the table.

Scott excused himself when I was done and managed to make up an excuse as to why he needed to leave as well.

"Did I do something to upset Pual?" I asked as soon as he and I were out of earshot.

"Scott looked at me in confusion. "No, why would you ask that?"

"He just seemed to be short with me, and a few times, I might be crazy, but I thought he was glaring at me," I explained, disgruntled.

"I'm sure it's nothing. I know for a fact that you've done nothing to anger anyone the last few days," Scott replied with a wink and a chuckle.
