Chapter Thirty-One: Retreat

I stood in front of the mirror, admiring the outfit that I had picked out that morning. The bright yellow top and the flower-covered, pleated skirt were exactly the splash of happiness I needed. The beautiful outfit gave me a sense of confidence that I hadn't had in a long time.

"Watch out, Mr. Jones," I said to myself in the mirror with a cocky grin.

I skipped down the stairs and peeked out the window. Noah's car was still in the driveway. However, the trunk was open, like he was packing up to leave. My smile only dropped slightly, but I refused to let this hinder my plans.
