Chapter Thirty-Two: The Guest

I gave Molly a quick wave and happy smile as I walked up the steps to my house after class. The moment the car had pulled out of sight, my whole body seemed to fold in on itself.

Ever since Noah left, I felt as if I was putting on a facade, just trying to fool everyone into thinking I was just fine. But that was all a lie. Every minute he was gone felt like an eternity to get through.

Everything I had been excited about now seemed frivolous. All the color had been drained from the world, and I was left with a shallow, dull version. It was like watching a black and white TV instead of actually living in my world.

"Stop being so dramatic," I told myself as I trudged inside my house. "You'll get through this as well."

As soon as I stepped in the door, I knew something was happening. It was like a sense of someone else being in your space, even if you couldn't see the person. Someone was there that I really didn't want there.
