TWENTY-NINE

Two weeks in the lycan kingdom were not so eventful.

I trained from morning till evening ate and slept, then continued my routine the next day.

Since my mate does not want to acknowledge me, I will do the same to him.

It seems the people around us noticed our indifferences from each other.

I hear whispers from people about Britteny's visits to him every day, and I try not to be affected.

It seemed to be true because one morning, I went to train, and She stopped me after coming out of his office and tried to flaunt it to my face, but I ignored whatever expectations she had for me.

Hunter and Scarlett are worried about reactions to each other since they know that beneath my indifference.

There is a broken girl who wants to be loved.

I would be lying If I were not affected by his indifference, but I won't be backing down from what we are doing to each other.

I will do the same thing he did to me.

The situation about the Lycan warriors seems to be true.

I could feel their hostility from them whenever I passed their training ground, but sometimes Ignorance is bliss.

I could do my training without any disturbance.

Hunter and Scarlett told me about a private meeting with the king on the situation at hand.

I woke up, did my morning routine, and dressed in my casual black outfit.

The maid appointed to me guided me to the conference room where Hunter, Scarlett, and Aiden would be waiting with my mate and other Lycans.

The guards in front of the door pushed it when they saw the maid's face, and I entered the room.

The room has a large round table in the center of the room with chairs surrounding it. I walked to Aiden and sat beside him, then noticed the other people in the room apart from my Hunter and Scarlett sitting opposite me.

Aiden smiled at me, and we spoke to each other using our mind links.

"Will you be okay?" He said.

I stared at him beside me and nodded my head.

''Although I can't like him, tell me if you have an unpleasant time, okay.''

I nodded and turned to the person coming toward me.

''I had wanted to meet the famous SANGUINEX, but it seems the rumors are true that you don't socialize with others apart from your family.'' A middle-aged man came to me.

I looked at the man and wondered about him, but Aiden stood up and answered my thoughts, "It is good to meet you, Count Hilton, I am sorry, but my sister is anti-social and doesn't like to speak to others.''

'Aiden must have spoken to him on the day of the banquet,' I thought at the recognition Aiden gave the man.

The man known as Count Hilton said and smiled, "I see, and I thought I was the only person.''

''If you have time, please come to my daughter's tea party.

She is obsessed with fighting and your stories and thought you ignored her invitation,'' He continued.

Well, during these weeks, I had a lot of invitations coming to me about tea parties, banquets, and all.

Since the kingdom followed the ancient hierarchy, they would be invitations like that, although the technology here is not different from the werewolves.

Aiden looked at me and said to him, "Carmen will be there.''

Count Hilton looked at me and saw that I had no problem and smiled, ''Then we will be expecting you,''

He left.

Aiden sat back and mind linked me, "Go out of the palace and meet new people.

You should enjoy yourself and also get a friend."

I was about to reply when the announcement of the king came up.

''His majesty will be entering,'' Someone said.

The door opened, and my mate came in with Harrison behind him.

He dressed in a white tee shirt showcasing his tattoo on both arms with the first two buttons opened, displaying his toned chest with blue jeans that hugged his long legs.

His hair seemed ruffled with strands falling over his forehead, but that didn't diminish the attractiveness, instead added more appeal to him.

My heart couldn't help but beat fast at my attractive mate.

I cursed my stupid heart for betraying my emotions.

My mate entered the room and scanned everyone present.

He seemed to pause on me before something flashed in his eyes and turned his sight away.

He settled at the chair at the top of the table and sat.

There was an intimidating silence in the room before he spoke, ''I heard some things from the oracle about the enemy called Typhon, and it seems he is responsible for the increase of strays and rogues.''

"Could you explain what your oracle said, Elder Hunter?" My mate turned to Hunter and asked.

Hunter looked at me before turning to the king and spoke, ''Well, There was a pack that the rogues came three times, and from our research of them, when rogues come, they go for the kill.

We thought it was strange and sent our commander, carmen to look into it, and she found out about the enemy.''

"From thorough investigation, we found out he is a god, but a banished god.

A luna from the same pack had a high-ranking mate within the rogue, and we suspect that he is with Typhon and was a traitor,'' Hunter added.

''Is it possible that your kind has two mates?'' A middle-aged man interrupted him.

Hunter glanced at me before turning to the man that asked him the question, ''No, it is not possible,''

"Then why was the traitor a luna?'' The same man asked again.

Hunter's lips twitched before answering, "It is a family issue that I can't discuss,''

Another middle-aged man argued, ''Family issue, that person is a traitor, and we have the same enemy, so I advice Elder Hunter to speak everything if we want to be on the same page.''

Hunter was about to argue before I called him, "Hunter.''

When I called him, the attention was on me.

I leaned forward with hands underneath my chin and elbows placed on the table and said, ''I will take it from here.''

Hunter sighed and nodded.

I looked at the man that argued with Hunter for a while before speaking, "That traitor was my sister, and the man was my mate.''

I could see everybody's shock on their faces, ''As my father said, it was a family issue but to put it simply, My mate rejected me for my sister and her family stood by the decision, so are there more questions?''

I looked at the men who argued with Hunter, and they avoided my gaze.

I avoided my mate's stare after speaking.

I leaned in my chair, and Hunter spoke after he saw I was not talking.

Hunter coughed to get the attention and looked at the king, "Like my daughter said, the traitor was her sister.''

My mate turned his gaze to my father and asked, ''I see.''

''The oracle said that Typhon is after my daughter for reasons unknown, but she said we will find the answers here,'' Hunter said.

I could feel glances from everyone when Hunter said that.

My mate said, ''Our oracle doesn't know the reason, but he told your commander that she will find her answers from the vampires.''

''Pardon my rudeness, your majesty, but does the commander carmen know of any reason why the enemy is after you,'' Count Hilton asked.

I glanced at him before answering, ''The oracle said I was the closest to the moon goddess, and yours said the same thing, but it seems the answers I need are within the vampires.''

''But your majesty, to find the vampires is not an easy task,'' A man said.

I looked at the man and noticed the similarities between Brittney and him.

'He must be her father,' I thought, noticing the same arrogance.

''I know, but the oracle said the enemy is something the gods feared, including the lycan god, and we have to find them now without delay,'' My mate concluded.

''I hope the search would include the werewolves,'' My mate asked me.

Aiden answered for me when he saw I had no intention of answering him, ''Yes, my sister and I would be there.''

Something flickered in his eyes when Aiden answered, ''I see, then we will be expecting you.''

My mate looked at Harrison standing behind him, and Harrison said, ''Meeting adjourned.''

The meeting ended, and I stood up about to leave with Aiden and retreat to my bed, but I heard my mate's voice, ''I would like to speak with commander carmen.''

I could feel glances from people when he said that.

I turned to look at him and saw him staring at me with a blank face like mine.

I sighed and turned to look at Aiden, who looked at me with worried eyes, ''Aiden.''

Aiden stared at me before nodding and leaving.

Everyone who saw my agreement tacitly left the room quickly.

Hunter and Scarlett stared with worried eyes before leaving.

The busy room became with the three of us; My mate, me, and Harrison.

Harrison left the room, and it remained with my mate and me.

I sat on the chair and looked at my mate sitting on his chair.

No one moved for a while and continued staring at each other before I broke the silence.

''To what do I owe the pleasure of speaking, your majesty,'' I asked.
