TWENTY-EIGHT

Vampires are reclusive creatures, and there are hardly any rumors about them.

'Finding them won't be easy,' I thought deeply.

''Any other thing you want to know, carmen?'' Nyctimus asked.

I stood up and answered, looking at him, "No, thank you for your time.''

I ignored my mate and left the room without looking at him.

Walking through the hallways that I memorized with Harrison leading me, ignoring everyone, I was thinking about the conversation with Nyctimus.

I got to my room and closed the door before dumping myself on the enormous bed with my face.

"Who is he?" I asked aloud.

'He is an old acquaintance. I can't believe I didn't remember him till now.' Artemis said.

Facing the ceiling, I mumbled, "I can't get used to your voice,''

'.....'

I smiled inwardly at her silence.

''Anyway, Is it true?'' I asked seriously.

'About?'

Your memories, the moon goddess, and the lycan god manipulated it,'' I said.

'It seems so. When I shifted to a lycan, I remembered some things. At the same time, everything is blurry.'

''What do you remember?'' I asked.

'I only remember the moon goddess and the lycan god sealing me, but something is strange.' She said.

''What?''

'The moon goddess, sh-she shed a tear as she sealed me,'

'Although I can't remember fully, I could see her lips mouthing, < sorry, I am so sorry.>' She continued.

I furrowed my brows in confusion.

When Artemis mentioned the part where the moon goddess said sorry, I couldn't help but remember the dream of the voices after the scenario at the banquet.

That peculiar voice that called my name was the same voice that kept saying sorry to me.

'Is the goddess?' I thought.

'I have to find out later at the vampires or confirm when I have those dreams again,' I thought.

I sighed with an arm on my forehead and asked, ''Anything else?''

'No, that's all that came to me,' Artemis said.

'Nyctimus said all that Artemis knew were lies about the gods sealing her, then if what she knew was a lie, what about me?' I thought.

'Artemis said she knew I was her host when I was born, but how is it possible for her to have known when the moon goddess was responsible for the bond between us.' I added to my thought.

I sat up on the bed when those thoughts popped into my head.

''Now that I think about it,'' I mumbled.

'The moon goddess created Artemis, and she must be responsible for the bond between us, but why me?' I thought.

I continued to think and think, but nothing came up.

I sighed with my hand ruffling my hair and muttered, ''she must have seen something to choose me.''

'Nyctimus said the gods could see the future, but sometimes what they predict might not come true.

The moon goddess must have seen something in my future to choose me for Artemis and was sure I could defeat Typhon.' I thought while putting both hands behind me on the bed and leaning backward.

''Selena and Nyctimus don't have the answers, but the Vampires must have the answers,'' I said aloud.

'I need to speak to Hunter and others about this,' I thought.

A knock sounded in the room.

I got up and sniffed the scent behind the door before opening it.

''A-,'' I was about to call his name, but he engulfed me in his arms.

''Don't scare me like that again.'' He whispered while tightening his hold on me.

''Aiden,'' I muttered.

He released me and held my hand before taking me to his room.

Before I got into my appointed room, I felt a shiver on my back.

I turned my head to see if anyone was watching, but I didn't see anyone as Aiden dragged me and closed the door.

Aiden released my hands before turning to me with crossed arms and demanding with narrowed eyes, ''Explain,''

I looked at him before walking to the bed and sitting down.

He followed my movement and stood in front of me

''The Lycan king is my mate,'' I said.

''I know. The king didn't hide anything with you in his arms that day,'' He mumbled in dissatisfaction.

"He doesn't like me,'' I said with a straight face, but my heart felt like breaking.

"He didn't do anything to you, did he?" Aiden looked at me with narrowed eyes.

I sighed and lied, "No, He didn't.''

"He did, didn't he?" Aiden asked.

When Aiden didn't hear anything from me, he clenched his hands and gritted his teeth, "That bastard.''

''Aiden, you know he hates werewolves,'' I tried to calm him, but it seemed I added fuel to the fire.

''It doesn't give him the right to hate you. Whatever happened to develop hatred for us has nothing to do with all werewolves.'' Aiden nearly screamed with anger.

''Aiden.'' I stared at him.

Aiden looked at me and sighed, ruffling his hair with one hand, ''I am sorry, but you suffered for a mate, and I don't want you to suffer for the next one.''

''I won't suffer for him,'' I reassured him.

''But,'' He tried to speak.

''Aiden, remember we are not in the pack. If you speak against their king, something might happen. Don't forget they have better hearing better than werewolves.'' I warned him seriously.

Aiden looked at me and nodded.

He leaned forward to pat my head and said with a small smile, ''Don't forget we are here for you, Carmen."

I stared at him before nodding.

"Okay, did anything happen?'' Aiden sat down beside me.

''Well,'' I tried to think of words to explain everything.

''I need answers from the vampires,'' I summarised it with a sentence.

''Vam-Vampires,'' Aiden stared at me with shock on his face and a look of explanation.

''He told me that if I need answers, I will find them with the oracle of the vampires,'' I said.

''The Lycan's oracle?" Aiden asked.

''Yes,'' I answered.

"Why do we need answers from the vampires?'' Aiden asked.

''I don't know, but If I need answers and how to kill Typhon, It will be within the vampires,'' I said.

Even I don't get why the answers would be with the vampires.

"Well, It will not be easy to find their territory. The only thing I know of is the vampires stay in a forest, a very secluded forest," Aiden said.

''Hmm,'' I answered while thinking.

It is true about them living in the forest, but there are so many forests. Who would be so foolish as to search for the forest they stay in because of curiosity?

'Well, one has appeared,' I thought while thinking of my situation.

''We need to have a private meeting with the king and a general meeting with the Alphas,'' I told Aiden.

''Don't worry. Dad is on it.'' Aiden patted my shoulder before lying on the bed.

''Hmm.''

''Oh yes, Where can we train?'' I remembered I wanted to ask my mate about training, but Nyctimus and the situation at hand allowed me to forget.

''Oh! There are training grounds. We have one to use for ourselves since the Lycans warriors don't want to mix with us.'' Aiden said, facing the ceiling.

"Why?'' I asked, puzzled.

''Loyalty,'' Aiden said.

''Loyalty?'' I asked, still not able to understand.

''Since their king hates werewolves, they hate us too,'' Aiden said.

''They pledged their loyalty to the king and followed him, so they had to follow his hatred.'' Aiden continued.

''Wow,'' I muttered.

''Yeah, Harrison told me that if we go there. We will attract trouble and with you as his mate. They hate us more, feeling that the lycan god is punishing their king.'' Aiden murmured with dissatisfaction.

''So stupid.'' I scoffed.

'Is it my fault, or are they biased?' I complained in my thoughts.

''Anyway, I will show you the training ground and avoid making trouble, carmen,'' Aiden looked at me seriously.

'Blame my trouble-seeking fate,' I couldn't help but complain in my thoughts.
