Chapter Four: First Day in a military academy.
The ranking system was formed by the government in which a super human's ability is measured. It wasn't used in schools that much, as there was no use for it. It was hard to believe that any school would. They would usually use the number of genes in one's body. Seeing the ranking system used in a military academy, 'Does it mean they are other beings stronger than humans on planet Earth.' Seraphina thought to herself.
"Hey. Did you see the number on her watch?" Some whispered as they noticed Hveni's watch. To the other students, it was hard to believe such an innocent-looking girl like Hveni would stand in the highest rank and level.
Just then, a tall man in a white military uniform walked into the classroom and everywhere went silent. On his uniform was a name tag---'Officer Klein'.
"I believe everyone knows what time it is," he announced, and grumbles were heard. Seraphina didn't know, as this was just her first day.
"Stand up on your feet and run!" He yelled. Suddenly, the ground started to shake, and the classroom had changed into an entirely different area. The atmosphere changed into thick, dense air, the sky slightly red and the ground covered with dry red sand.
"Don't forget the obstacles," the teacher yelled, but the students had already raced too far to hear him.
Seraphina had stayed at the back of the pack, trying to pick up. As she ran, she felt her vision slowly fading, the air became denser than before, making it hard to breathe.
From the corner of her eye, she sighted a slight movement of the ground. She had lowered her speed and looked to where she had sighted. The instinct of adrenaline kicked in, and she found herself running, the ground shook tremendously, and a worm suddenly busted from the ground. "Help!" She screamed, and just then a spear slashed through the worm's body. Purple and pink butterflies appeared as the spear slowly disappeared.
Seraphina sat on the floor, gripping her chest, as it pounded many times. She saw a hand and looked up to see Hveni the level 30 user, "Obstacle training involves using your powers."
'So the bright light colours came from her.' Seraphina thought.
"Thank you," she muttered.
"No problem. It's best if we get running now, after all, it's still a race." Hveni said, and picked up her pace. If this is how the academy went, Seraphina knew she wouldn't survive, she was sure this was the end would have been the end for her if not for Hveni's intervention.
She was still at the back of the pack, no matter how she tried, she just couldn't seem to move forward. The ground rumbled again and worms erupted from the ground. The students began attacking the giant worms, and when they did, it wasn't the usual superhuman power she knew. Some controlled the ground forming it into a weapon to attack, while some will spring out magic circles from their hands that destroyed the worms.
Looking at the fight all around her, she had forgotten she was on the battlefield and was pushed by someone to the ground.
A worm had erupted from where she stood before. "Don't just look! The fight is part of the training." The stranger yelled. He went in front of the worm and as he touched it, it turned to dust.
"What are you, a level one user?" He eyed her mockingly and left. As Seraphina, stood there, she was completely confused. She was of no use in battle, then why would an academy choose her?
The biggest of all worms sprung out of nowhere and blew green venom which melted the ground. Hveni saw this and finishes of finished the last one and, then she formed her spear to attack, she noticed three other students rushing for the last one because they knew how many points it would give.
The race training was only just a formality to the academy, the real deal was the points of the obstacles given. Currently, Hveni had 25 points from the other she had killed, she wasn't about to let anyone take it. Using the spear in her hands, she struck the worm at its most vital part---its stomach. After waiting for a while, she noticed the worm didn't die and continued sending attacks. A part of the worm had turned to dust, one part frozen and the ground slowly sinking the worm.
The other students had to stop and watch in amazement as the four students fought equally trying to beat the giant worm. "Did you see that? She's a level 30 user. And look at him, he can turn anything to dust."
"They're unstoppable," one of the students exclaimed. With the furious combination of their power, they were able to beat the giant worms, and cheers erupted from the student.
Behind the thick glass, two women stood as they looked at the students on the battlefield.
"Did you see that boss? To think we were able to gather such a wonderful combination this year." One spoke.
"Yes, a marvellous team they would be. Make arrangements for the first field trip. Join the teams as you notice their teamwork."
"What about the level zero student? I honestly have no idea why we invited her? Look at those powerful bloodlines."
"Pair her up with the strongest team you match. She needs to be protected. She's the only one who can free our kind."
