Ch 1 Another Life (6)

He smacked my butt, pretty hard and gripped harder. "I said don't move, girl. Be glad you are more useful to me alive right now. Don't be stupid."

The man must have on an exo suit under that old body armor to be so strong. My kicking hadn't seemed to do anything but hurt my feet so I stopped, when he hit me. My heart was racing, faster than the man was moving.

I couldn't help but scream as the man ran up to one of the reinforced high altitude windows and kicked it. These windows had been built so that an elephant could stand on them and they wouldn't crack. They weren't glass but a see through plastic. When the man kicked it, it popped right out and fell to the ground far below. I had never been afraid of heights but I was glad my head was facing the man's back and I couldn't see the ground. "Ready for catch."

There was a pause as the man stood in the window that wind blowing in. Then I screamed again and closed my eyes as he jumped. What the fuck, if he was just going to kill himself why pick me up?

We fell for two stories and then we hit something pretty hard. The man let go of me to brace himself against whatever it was. The force of landing drove me from his shoulder and I bounced against the metal side. We were in some type of plane? The craft turned up and someone was yelling but I was too dazed to understand.

"Don't pass out yet, girl, if they think you are dead it won't do us any good."

The man quickly turned me and tied my hands, and legs together. He then lifted me and held me out the open side of the plane. The plane was gaining air speed and height. If his grip slipped I would be dead. At least I was gaining more and more time to say my good-byes. "Let us through, coppers, or you will kill one of your precious tube babies."

It was hard to hear the man over the wind but I think that is what he said. Trying to look into the wind I could see a group of military vehicles heading straight for us. They were trying to stop the terrorists and blocking the route. I thought for sure they would open fire and kill all inside.

Time which had been moving at breakneck pace seemed to slow and my racing heart suddenly didn't seem so fast. Maybe I should have picked a religion it might be nice to have something to pray to at a time like this. 16 wasn't very old right, but guess death doesn't care.

"I don't think this is working." The voice came from farther up in the plane.

"They haven't fired yet." The man's hand tightened a bit more as I pulled against the ropes around my wrists preventing me from grabbing his arm.

"A collision with a drone will be just as deadly."

"I know that." The man lifted his weapon with his other hand and pointed it at me. "But it will be just as deadly for her, as well."

Well getting shot in the head had to be a better way to go than coming to a sudden stop right? After all, it is never the fall that kills you. My eyes must be huge as I looked at the gun.

"Wait, they broke off."

The man tossed me to the floor inside and I slid a bit unable to stop myself with my hands tied. "Close the door, blast the static shock. Make sure we don't have any trackers then get low to the trees. Hopefully they won't be able to follow us this close to the mountains or they will think we raced for space."

When the door closed the man lifted me to my feet again. I cried out in pain, as he pulled up on my shoulder. "You are pretty enough, you might still be useful. Play nice, after we get those computers off of you anyway.."

The man shoved something in my face. The world started to go black, but I thought I saw four colors racing through the blue heavens just before I couldn't see anything else.
