Ch 4 Anyway (5)

"From our conversation earlier, I should be able to agree to that condition. He cannot be all bad if the first thing he wants is to tell me, he will skin me alive slowly if I hurt you, after all."

"What did you say to him?"

I felt more than saw Goliath tilt his head as he watched for how I would react, "That it was a good sentiment, and he shouldn't be surprised if I do the same thing to him if he betrays you."

I shook my head and rolled my eyes backing away from Goliath to head out of the closet. "Boys."

Goliath grabbed my arm for a moment pulling me to a stop. He pulled a tiara off one of the shelves beside him. It was a little white gold circlet with pink gems in it that matched the mini skirt I had on. I hadn't worn any of the tiaras since I was 6 and playing princess. It still fit surprising well and Goliath even ran his fingers through my hair to arrange it better to hold the little thing. "Now you are dressed, princess."

How brightly can a person blush before it causes them to pass out? Goliath just let my arm go and I started to leave again. In my embarrassment I didn't even consider taking the thing back off. Damn handsome green dragon knight.

We made it all the way out into the hall before I calmed down enough to get my brain to work again. Goliath stayed just a step behind me and to my right. When it occurred to me that I should have just taken the little ornament off we were already halfway down the hall. One of the maids saw me and gave a slight bow getting out of the way. She slipped down another corridor so she was probably warning the kitchen I would be in the dining hall soon.

The human maids wore more functional clothes than the AI. They had on pants with coats and pockets. The outer layer was black and the underlayers that showed were lilac purple. They wore slippers not boots but that was about the only thing different between them and the guards. They might care a tool or two with them but if they needed more than that they pushed a cart. It was rare for me to see any carts though as the AI figured out my schedule normally and kept any major work out of my way. Without the AI the schedule the house regularly kept would be untenable.

I was still thinking about the maid as I entered the dining room. The door opened on its own just as I had expected, so I hadn't looked around until I got to my spot at the table. "Oh, you are up early, good morning Joe."

"Good morning, She-u. I have gotten with the school, they will be sending the test next month. They wish to talk to you about the results before saying that they will keep you in the same grade of course."

"Of course." I blinked at Goliath as he pulled out my chair for me. Joe watching me brought my attention back to the room. With a nod I stepped before the chair and Goliath pushed it in. Goliath could have easily moved me and the chair but he was as in control of that power as ever. "Thank you, Goliath, join us?" I waved at the chair next to me.

"If you wish, She-u." Goliath carefully sat down in the chair I indicated. Joe went back to what he had been reading but I got the feeling he was keeping a very close eye on Goliath.

"Right, Mad Artificial Intelligence Deliverer, what is on my schedule for today already? Also, when will my phone be ready?"

"Please don't call me that, miss." Even I couldn't read Joes or Goliaths expressions as the MAID appeared again. "Your replacement phone is waiting for you in the main hall. Hopefully it lasts longer then your last one, miss." My last one had only lasted a week. Something is always happening to my phones. Most often it is bad programming because I fiddled with it again, but not always, this one had been destroyed by terrorists after all. Good thing I was rich, and my family owned the phone company and manufacturing plant. "You should be able to pick it up on your way to the gym, which I scheduled for you for the next three hours since you chose not to go to school. After I scheduled you to meet with Hero and console him, and have lunch that should last 2 to 3 hours. After that I made an appointment for Doc Hoster to stop by and do a more full examination of your physical and mental health. Following unless doctor orders otherwise, will be diner. Should it not already be past your normal bed time, you can have entertainment time until bed."

"Cool, reschedule the doctor for this side of never, and that sounds perfect."

The maid made a sighing sound and so did Joe. Bad Joe. "You have been through a major traumatic event, miss. You must see the doctor until he clears you to continue your normal routine."

"Right, being evaluated after being rescued was very traumatic. They did a full exam at the station. I don't intend to go anywhere for a month or more and if I do go somewhere, my guards will be with me, able to keep me from hurting myself or others should I suddenly snap with no warning. Tell the doc I refuse to be seen at this time and if he wants to come anyway he can spend the time talking to the station doctor and making sure his notes are updated but I am not paying extra. If there has been any major changes in my behavior noted during the month or more that I am staying home anyway, then you can call the doctor and make me see him. Not before."
