8. Two Choices

After hearing what Wu Tian said, Johan's complexion turned ugly. Turned out that the cause of his deteriorated eyes was a curse. Moreover, it was no ordinary curse. It was a curse that could affect him and his blood-related person to suffer bad luck from time to time.

It was just fortunate that the curse was suppressed after he was afflicted by it at that time. But now, the curse broke out. He became worried about what happened to his mother or sister if nothing could suppress it anymore. On the other hand, he was also a little astonished at how he could suppress the curse.

Johan clenched his fist. He immediately understood who was cursing him. He guessed his uncle at first. However, it was also possible if his uncle hired a shaman, although he didn't believe in shamanism at that time.

The appearance of cultivators who had superpowers made him unable to not believe in shamanism.

Johan murmured in despair.

"What should I do?"

Then he raised his head to look at the cultivators in front of him as if he said "please help me!" with just his expression alone.

If his curse only affects Johan himself, it doesn't really matter. Unfortunately, the curse is not that simple. He actually endangered his family because of his curse.

At that moment, Wu Tian spoke.

"Little Yue Han, you must be wondering why your curse was suppressed, right? If my guess is not wrong, you have a special Qi, Celestial Qi."

"What?? Celestial Qi?"

"Are you sure it was Celestial Qi, senior Wu?"

"There's no way, right?"

Not only Deadly Note, but even Southern Vermillion, Xiao Lin, and the others were also dumbfounded. They felt their ears had gone wrong. Only Great Master Profound Nirvana nodded in confirmation.

Johan just tilted his head, not understanding what Celestial Qi meant.

Seeing Johan's confusion, Deadly Note explained.

"Qi is divided into 5 types. Spiritual Qi, Monster Qi, Netherworld Qi, Evil Qi, and Celestial Qi. Of the five kinds, we human cultivators generally have Spiritual Qi. For Southern Vermillion over here, he had Monster Qi because he was a monster before having a human form. The Netherworld Qi was the most toxic to human or monster cultivators because it was the Qi that came from the Netherworld Realm. And only demons or corrupted monsters have that kind of Qi. Occasionally, there would also be a human capable of using Netherworld Qi, but the odds were 1 in 1 million. As for Evil Qi, this is a kind of Qi that is transformed from Spiritual Qi due to a person being corrupted by the mass slaughter of innocent people. But there are also those who have Evil Qi because they are born with it. The reason why this is called Evil Qi is caused by those who use corpses or other human body parts and sometimes some use negative emotions to increase the density of their Evil Qi as a cultivation technique. And the last one is Celestial Qi. As far as I know, this kind of Qi is the Qi of cultivators in the Heaven Realm. I don't know why you have it, but for sure, this Qi is superior to other Qi, and it can even counteract the Netherworld Qi easily which Spiritual Qi cannot."

Deadly Note's lengthy explanation made Johan a little dizzy. Even so, he understood what Deadly Note meant.

What surprised Johan were of course the Netherworld Realm and Heaven Realm. It seemed that the Netherworld Realm and the Heaven Realm were not what he had previously imagined, especially the Heaven Realm in which he thought that the dead would go to Heaven. Or maybe it was because the Realm was like paradise to cultivators, so everyone called it the Heaven Realm.

Johan had understood Deadly Note's words, however, his explanation didn't solve the problem he was currently facing. Even with his incredible Celestial Qi couldn't suppress his curse anymore.

He patiently waited for Deadly Note to continue with another explanation.

"Since you seem to understand the Qi, let's change to another topic. You want your curse lifted, right?"

Johan immediately nodded his head vigorously.

"Then, you can only choose. Become a cultivator to suppress your curse, so you can lift your curse in the future. Or, just die!"

When Johan heard the word "die", he stiffened. Hearing someone tell him to die was so uncomfortable. Yet, that person said nonchalantly.

"Mister Deadly Note! You said a while ago that cultivators concealed themselves so they wouldn't interfere with the lives of ordinary people. I'm an ordinary person, but why did you introduce me to cultivation? Is it because of the "Celestial Qi" you mentioned earlier? Then, why did you give me the choice to die?"

"Let's say it's just a coincidence. At first, we didn't even plan to interfere with your life. However, this kid accidentally saved you where you should have died due to the effect of your curse." Deadly Note pointed at Qitian Dasheng with his thumb without turning around. As his gaze was still on Johan, he continued. "I have explained to you that your curse brings bad luck to you and even your blood-related. So, if you die, the curse should be lifted. But, you're still alive now which makes things even more troublesome. We might be able to change your memory, but if your curse actually affects your family, we'll feel guilty. That's why I give you two choices. Do you still want to carry your curse by cultivating or do you want to lift your curse directly by dying?"

"So, that's how it is. So they're the ones who made my friends' memories hazy." Johan said in his mind.

Deadly Note's explanation made Johan realize. He wondered why he could remember everything during the accident, while his friends couldn't. Turns out the cultivators could alter memories.

"Mister, I think it's better if I…" Johan suddenly stopped talking.

He was determined, he was ready, and he had decided to take his curse into the afterlife with him. However, when he was about to say "die", his mother's tears and smiles appeared in his head.

Johan clenched his teeth.

"Why do I think that I will solve everything if I die? If I die, how will my mother feel? I don't even want to imagine it."

Johan's mind was in turmoil. He didn't expect that just because the curse could affect his mother and younger sister, he became shallow-minded. He didn't think about the after-effects if he died.

His mother was already hurt because of his father's family. He didn't want to make his mother depressed by his death. It was just he didn't know what to do about his curse which led him to meet a dead end.

Seeing Johan looking hesitant, Deadly Note spoke up.

"You seem uncertain."

Johan turned his gaze to Deadly Note.

"Mister Deadly Note, If my death can solve everything, then I'd rather die to save my mother and little sister even though I fear death myself. However, my heart can no longer bear to imagine my mother's tears when I die. A cultivator like you might be able to alter my mother's memories, but not her heart."

Everyone was silent after what Johan said. It was true that they could alter a person's memory. However, looking at the Celestial Qi miraculously appearing among the mortals, there was no guarantee that they would be able to alter the memories of someone related to that Qi possessor. Even if they could, they preferred to respect Johan's decision.

When everyone was silent, Xiong Fei stepped forward.

"Then, would you try to cultivate, little Yue Han?"

"It's hard to say. To be honest, I don't know what to do. I can't die, but I can't live. Say, is there anything that can increase someone's luck? An amulet, for example."

Johan wanted to know if there is something like an amulet to increase luck or prevent bad luck. It used to be a fictitious thing he read about in folklore. But not for now. That's why he wanted to know.

"Your curse is not something you can suppress with a mere amulet, little Yue Han." Xiong Fei replied.

Johan just scratched his head.

"Ugh, it wasn't for me. But my mother and little sister. I just didn't want to implicate them just because of the effect of my curse."

Johan also thought that after Wu Tian explained that his curse was not ordinary, it was very difficult to find something to suppress the curse. But since neither his mother nor his sister had any curses, he speculated that something like an amulet he'd often heard of from folklore might be able to resist the effects of his curse.

Wu Tian lit his eyes. Johan's idea might be feasible. He thought through how to counter the bad luck, even if it's not for him.

"So, when you try to cultivate to suppress your curse and find the way to lift it, you will give the amulets to your mother and sister to resist the effect of your curse?"

"Yes." Johan nodded in confirmation of Wu Tian's question.

"So, that's your choice, huh? I just need to remind you. Cultivation isn't as easy as it looks. Not only is it filled with dangers, but it is also filled with hardships."

"I'm aware of that."

Johan decided to step into the world of cultivation. He could still live, he wouldn't make his mother sad, he could say goodbye to his curse, and he could be more powerful. Even if he could die at any moment after he stepped into the world of cultivation, it was better to try it first than to give up right away.
