Not tonight

It was past the time we were supposed to meet, and the president of the Phoenix still didn't show up.

Seven and Ryan went back to the car while Jace sat somewhere nearby, keeping a close watch.

I drummed my fingers on the table, the disposable phone lying on it. I already had two scoops of ice cream and was tempted to have more.

But the waiting game made me lose my appetite.

In my head, if he still doesn't arrive in ten minutes, I will grab a meal suitable for four and head back to Seven's place. I'll consider this a win in my book.

I let the countdown begin with every tap of my fingers on the wooden table. My impatience was growing, and I wouldn't have waited this long if I weren't curious about this man.

"He's here," Seven's voice crackled in the earpiece. I lifted my head, eyeing the entrance of Caliber.
