“Maybe she didn’t,” I answered, feeling the slight to my pride. “Maybe you only see and feel what you want so that you can make sense of things that have no rhyme or reason. I chose you because you were the best looking. I…”
I hesitated because I wanted to confess that I fell in love with him along the way, but I couldn’t form the words.
He shook his head. “I tried to forget you and let you go,” he admitted. “But I couldn’t. I would have come for my child eventually if he was a shifter, but there was a need in me for you.”
What he said reflected how I felt as well, but there was more inside of me than just a need for him. When he looked at me, even the first time, when he was mostly sedated, there was something inside of me that just all of a sudden felt right.
Him disappearing without a word or a trace all but crushed that right feeling.
“What is a Luna?” I asked to distract myself from my feelings.
“The Luna would be my wife,” he stated plainly.
