The castle itself seemed to be half the size of a village. In the outer courtyard, young men and women hurried over to put away the horses and carriage. Erich held my hand securely as we crossed into the open gates of the castle into the inner courtyard that split off into three different directions.


The soldiers that remained and his Beta split from the group to the left. Erich continued forward into the castle entrance where a cadre of servants dressed in spotless uniforms waited to greet him. 


“Alpha Erich.” A tall and broad clean shaven man with salt and pepper hair was the first to speak. But the remaining words were lost on me since they were speaking their own language. Even as the man directed his words to Erich, his eyes were on me.
