Kid Psychic IV

"How... how did you know that?!" Mr. Bentham was uneasy and stutteringly asked.

"It's easy!" Jonathan smiled with gratification. "I am a psychic and nothing else to it!"

The hand-me-down phone was dialed and the Benthams who should've started running was strangely stuck in place.

The scene cut to the police cuffing the old couple and confessing their crimes. It was a stupid decision for them but they were still fearful of the force that completely stiffened their bodies.

Even Mr. Bentham with his paralyzed hand was completely affected by the inexplicable power.

A police officer, approached the Smith father and son, to brief them on what was to happen next and how it may affect them.

It was all standard procedure but the officer can't help but add to the end. "I have to say, Jonathan, everyone is still doubting you. But, those spooked two and their weird confession that you were somehow able to read their minds, I'd say you might have something in you, after all!"

Jonathan smugly brushed his hair from the praise. "Heh! It's just that I never really got the perfect stage to showcase my prowess, so it was only a matter of time."

"Never got the perfect stage." The officer was quick to burst the arrogant man's bubble. "Tell that to the hundreds of complaints that your 'clients' have given to you!"

The smug Jonathan had his confidence hit and his dumbfoundedness conveyed from the screen.

Although he wasn't at the level of Jim Carrey, Mark still brought in the laughs with masterful editing and well-timed musical accompaniment.

"Anyways, if you're as good as the Benthams say you are, then we'd give you a call when something... err... spiritual comes into play." The police officer bid farewell and the Smith duo was left at their own devices.

James turned his head to an empty spot nearby and when his eyes glowed, the empty spot was suddenly occupied by a wounded old man with a golden pocketwatch in hand.

He was smokey and ethereal which meant he was a ghost with unfinished business.

"Thank you, young one! Have this as a gift from dead old me!" The old ghost bowed and floated his prized possession towards James. His unfinished business was achieved and he peacefully ascended into the plane he was meant to go.

Jonathan with no esper sight only saw the golden pocketwatch appear and float towards his son.

"Hoo haa! Ghost begone!" His karate hands and guarded expression were enough to tell that he had no clue about what just happened.

The scene then turns back to the Jonathan and Bentham interaction but this time, the people were seeing it from the perspective of the ghost-seeing James.

By Mr. Bentham's paralyzed hand was a leeching and horrid spirit that may as well be the cause of his complications.

It was attached to the pocketwatch in hand and the young James was tempted to snuff it out with his psychic powers.

It was a good thing he waited as he realized as the Jonathan and Bentham confrontations were undergone, the grotesque and leech-faced spirit suddenly whisper in succession. "Help me... They killed me... Help me..."

The quick-thinking young boy was quick to connect the dots and telepathically communicated to his father about the findings.

Thus, the whole thing comes full circle and the big reveal ended the much-needed flashback.

It was the perfect iteration of how mystery and heist movies would go about their big reveals and the watchers could feel the satisfaction of a job well done.

James still couldn't wrap his head around how the golden pocket watch was suddenly in his hands. But, he was also starting to reevaluate how he must treat spirits.

The old ghost was clearly transformed into the paralysis-afflicting and cursing spirit. Then, the young psychic was getting a newer perspective on how he should see his world as it is.

As he was introducing the viewers to change their perspectives, he was also in the process of changing his own.

Although the average audience was not clear on the implied meaning of him contemplating the pocketwatch, there were still the eagle-eyed critics that can cite every implication in every scene they can find.

The critics don't have much acceptance of those flashy scenes but they have a bias toward the implications that the film wants to convey.

Jonathan and James' lives went on...

James was getting bullied by older kids but he made do with it by esper means. He made a pack with his father that he shouldn't use his power to hurt people but that doesn't mean he can't use it to get ahead.

He would always foil their attempts by smartly getting the attention of adults and the viewing kids were given the idea of what to do in these situations.

Jonathan remembered the police officer's words and through that, Smith Spiritual Agency was swarming with businesses.

The viewers were then introduced to a soiree of ghosts and spirits.

A biker gang died because the one ahead of them slipped into a banana!

The Smith duo dressed up as girls to get into an all-girl Catholic school. Alex and Mark were blushing in their seats afraid that someone might recognize those fools as them.

James, then, disintegrated the perverted spirit that was snooping around with overpowering psychic abilities.

Again, it turned out that the spirit was only a ghost wanting to be happy by just sniffing the girl's underwear.

The notorious boogeyman spirits were made real in the movie and the Smith duo opened up a ton of closets to get rid of them.

What made the older audience burst into laughter on the closet-boogeymen scenario is that one of the boogeymen was actually a man that was cuckolding one of the client's wife.

A prominent Caltech library was also featured in the film and the librarian spirit that eerily shushed noisy readers was just a lady doing her job even in death.

There was a book-floating fight sequence that would put the Hogwarts library to shame.

All of those were a bit episodic but the news reports detailing the Smith Spiritual Agency's deeds were enough to tell that the story was interlinked.

The audience laughed and was awed by the many moments! They were on a roller coaster of emotions.

They would've normally dismissed this foolishness and jokes but the extremely polar opposite in the father and son dynamic was intriguing to them.

A fraudulent and weak father with his kindhearted and powerful son!

Thus, the movie was partly done and the climax had already been set up.
