That night, Lola Hussey woke up.
Upon opening her eyes, the first words she said were, "Save her, save her."
"Save who?"
Lola wasn't sure if it was just her hallucination, but she seemed to hear Ethan Ainsley's voice. Her eyes opened and closed again, tears falling from the corners of her eyes, wetting the white pillow beneath her.
She cried silently, her sorrow overwhelming.
Warm, dry fingertips wiped her tears away.
Her hand, hidden under the blankets, slowly reached out and grasped the hand that wiped her tears. Her voice was hoarse and broken, "You don't want me anymore... How could you not want me anymore?"
Her voice was so heartbreaking.
The people standing by the bed listening all felt their hearts shattering.
Her consciousness unclear, she continued babbling, "You're right… I was too weak--everything you said was right…"
"Hold on to me, and I'll save you--I promise I'll save you…"
"I'm sorry…"
Her sobbing grew more intense.
