chapter 2 - introduction 2

As mentioned earlier the 4 main houses rule the 4 cardinal points of utopia but as also mentioned before there were 5 continents, who rules the fifth? Well, no one, the fifth continent also known as 'Juniper' is ruled by none.

During rarities generation, juniper was fought for by all houses, it wasn't a war per se more like adults arguing whose child is better type thing, it makes no sense, but it is important, and interfering is quite dumb if you're the child. In the end the battle ended before it could actually start by the masses who protested that it should be a neutral land where none control it, but all are welcome. The proposal at first was dumb to the eyes of the high and mighty main 4 but all the other houses were on board with the idea, with the royals finally subsiding Juniper became what it is today.

Each house has a main area of residence, basically the main 'house' is located, the 4 main houses are located in their respective continents of control while the other houses are located on the very big islands, although the mechanism they use is quite unique.

The house of lightning isn't located on ground, yep, it's located in the sky. A giant mass of land in the sky above the clouds is where the house of lighting resides, how it's up there, it's of course due to their element. Lightning is a charge obviously; a lightning user can decide whether his/her charge should be negative or positive, hope you see where I am going with this, their charges are mainly static if they don't apply charges to their lightning, another factor as to why they live in the sky is due to one of lighting's subcategories being magnetism. It's the primary cause as to why it's in the sky.

As for the house of mist, it does have a geographic location but that entire are covered by mist so thick it's near impossible to breath. I get they flex their element but the point of suffocation, really? Just wow steam guys. Well, there is nothing special to the house of mist's defense flex mechanism, that's on the surface. One of the subcategories of mist is illusion, although light, darkness and nature all have illusions, the ones generated by mist need mist to create that effect, it basically a conditional illusion and these are very effective because they affect and block all senses unlike light which only affects sight.

The house of light just looks like a stair way to heaven. They live on the tallest mountain that they (ironically) named it heaven and it's always shining 24/7, those guys are the most carefree so the put no effort, literally, no hidden nothing, you can just walk/climb up there. But that's if your eyes can handle the light, it burns by the way.

The house of ice is located on the coldest island, not to the point of infinite snow, just very cold winds on a daily, though to them it's just basic air and to us bone chilling cold. Though there is no snow, it's temperatures range from around absolute zero to sub zero and below, how they do it I don't know and if these are the actual temperatures there, I just have to ask a resident when I find one.

Each house has their own unique style of living, it's a way of showing their prowess in regard to their specific field. And what they can do on a large scale. Each house has a leader some houses are patriarchal and some matriarchal, the patriarchs and matriarchs of a house are decided according to strength, battle IQ and mainly, their drive for their house, even if a patriarch has power and iq, if his actions aren't in benefit for the house, he won't be given that position, this applies to all houses regardless of position and status, the patriarch's family becomes the main one upon election and he/she is the entire house's representative, in charge of the young one's growth, internal affairs of the house as well as its image.

Since I am done explaining the basics I'll move on to the elements.

Each element has a history, the main 4, the deviants and the rarities. Although something these histories have in common is that they surround the founder of the elements, the history of an element and its house is never to be passed on to outsiders, it is meant to stay only within the house at all costs, for the reason as to why, I wasn't told, and it didn't really concern me anyway.

"I think that's enough of the past", I said as I sighed heavily, I got up and slowly walked toward my balcony, as I opened the door the strong winds blow past me and into my room turning a few pages of my books. "Tomorrow is the day I go to school, usually I'd be sad but now... I'm just downright confused", 'originally the first born was to go I don't know what crack that patriarch is doing days but sending me is quite stupid', I thought for a moment really questioning middle aged men," oh well, getting the best grades is simple for me but I'll stick to the slightly above average."

A few hours ago.

"You called me old man?" asked mono with an indifferent tone, "mmm? Ah the brat's already here. Yes, I did call for you and since talking to you makes me feel pissed again, I'll get to the point" said a rather good-looking man, with white shoulder length hair and a flawless face with no wrinkles, one wouldn't believe that he is a 50-year-old man, he glared at mono for a solid minute and continued, "in place of your brother you shall be going to Ignatius. You have no choice in this but knowing you, you are free to enroll as you please. I'm sure you know what that means." Finished the patriarch with a clearly serious tone as he looked at mono. Mono slightly smiled and said as he left "I don't care whose idea it was but you all shall take responsibility for the first's future, right patriarch?" with those words' mono left the hall.

Present

"To be honest, I expect nothing less from them. Always pushing me to do work, I just want to be lazy, you can relate right Emily?" I said as I looked behind me, to find a girl wearing black cargo pants with a very buggy black t-shirt and a black lab coat over everything, she had obsidian black eyes and jet-black long hair that went all the way to her back tied to a high ponytail.

She looked at me with confused eyes and said "Mono, I really don't care what happens to you as long as you finish the training I signed up for, so complain to the dead please." I looked at Emily and sighed, 'you say such things but here you are miles away from home with me' I thought I as I looked back at the sky.

This contradicting girl is Emily Raven first daughter to the house of Raven one of the rare houses aka the house of darkness, the training she is talking about are the theories I provide to her about what more she can do with her element that she can't think of, I only know her because I work for her dad Flake raven, a famous researcher, and have a similar passion as her and her father, the passion you ask? Can't tell you.

Emily sighed as she walked onto the balcony and stared at the sky as well, "Mono I don't think going to Ignatius is something that requires your full effort, just some of it" said Emily as she gave me a side glance then a smile. She is pretty but that really doesn't work on me, I grinned and said "don't give me your crap, you're just saying that cause your going there as well and you hate socializing. I am not goanna be your scape goat Emily." I looked at her only to see her look back at me with her usual indifference, she then turned around and walked into my shadow, as she sank in and left she said to me "see you at school Mono."
