Chapter 18 : Renovations

4 days have passed since my first meeting with Nobe, and I have to say, having a time user as your friend is really helpful. For starters I don't need a watch anymore since I have a living one close by and its ever accurate.

During these 4 days, I completed my testing spot on that tree I asked the nature user from the test to help me, and she gladly agreed because of what I did. She seemed to like the idea of introductions, when out of battle she has a softer and gentler voice.

Her name is Fiona Jespersen, she isn't of some famous background, but her family is related to the house of nature, I wanted to know more but the topic seemed to irritate her, and it wasn't any of my business anyway, so I just introduced myself to her once more and gave my request.

I got more accustomed to the school, now since I had access I decided to recreate the map of the school, with the interior of all the buildings I was aloud in and with this traversing the school will be much simpler.

On my third day here Nobe and I upgraded the room since it was dull. He was in charge of most things like the design and it's general appearance while I was in charge of increasing the space of the bedroom and completely changing its layout.

We added a few extra rooms, the room although big enough of the both of us needed more space since I tend to make random contraptions and experiment a lot while Nobe tends to just bring in more things that suit his taste as well as the general vide of the place.

We also changed the kitchen to suit Nobe's tastes since it was "Quite lacking." Nobe's words not mine, at some point there was an issue of money, but I covered it, he asked where I got the money from, but I just ignored this question.

During this 'warming' period both me, Rina and Nobe were approached by a lot of people be it from factions and cliques, the reason, it's because we are the only time and space users in school, and we are all from the rare houses as well. Emily was bothered to, but she posted on the school forum, and I quote 'I shall join whatever group Mono joins.'

Naturally this brought me problems, but it was something Emily always does. Since she knows I hate such things she does them on purpose. I made it explicitly clear for all that I won't be joining any, I didn't give a reason as to why but the main one was I know nothing of these groups. But of course, it caused the arrogant fools in year to start a fight with me.

Since second and third years couldn't do anything to us as of now, they made offers to some fist years if they were able to bring me in, after all it's a two in one deal. And now fifth day, a Saturday, I was scheduled to duel with some guy, a fire user I think.

"So how quick are you gonna finish him?" Nobe asked while he was slowly sipping on some grape juice. We were on the roof of the dormitory, since we finished our renovations to all rooms today at 3 in the morning, we decided to drink juice while we wait for the sun to raise.

Picking up my box of orange juice I replied, "Depends on if he's strong, although I want to end it quick I want to know if he challenged me for show, or if he actually thinks he can beat me."

In Ignatius students can duel, be it against students in the same year or with those in a higher class, of course dueling someone from a class below yours isn't allowed. Usually, we are meant to duel with our ranks on the line or something of value at stake and there are obviously some restrictions to challenging someone but since we don't have ranks no restriction is applied to anyone and because of this some students decided to duel with each other and second and third year students after my duel was announced and students were made aware on why it was allowed even though we weren't ranked yet but Alyona stopped them and said my duel will be the only one until we are ranked.

One can agree to a duel or decline but one declines and is still pestered into the due he/she can modify the conditions of the duel be it a win condition or one that affects the duel, I declined at first, but the brat decided to put the win condition 'I will pay for anything that you purchase if you win.' And with me seeing a chance to put a kid in debt I took it but on the condition that the 'debt only goes to him and not his family or anyone else.'

The only reason I added that was to make sure his future debt doesn't fall on anyone, he's able to receive money from friends and family but the debt doesn't fall on anyone else. Something else I love about the dueling system is that the school ensures the losers follows along with the win condition, in short they can't run, and it won't be my responsibility to keep him in check.

"Just don't give him a fatal injury. By the way do you know who he is?"

Taking a moment to think about what I know of him, "I don't really know who he is but he's apparently from the house of fire."

Normally one would be worried about fighting someone from the house of fire because they are known for their fighting capabilities. Those from the house of fire are trained to the limit of what their bodies can handle from a young age, well that varies according to one's potential. So, saying he should be adept in fighting would be an understatement, the only reason I'm not worried though is because I have trained with a fire user from the house of fire.

Though it wasn't for long, I was able to get a better understanding of the fire element and I was also almost going to lose my heart during that 'training'.

Nobe looked at me then back at the horizon and continued to slowly sip on his juice and I followed, we remained like this until 6am then went back to our room.

the room looked completely different from its original appearance, the celling that was in full view when one looked up was nowhere to be found replaced by it was a glass dome that was a little higher than the original position of the roof, to the immediate left and right of the door was a sort of mini libraries with all sorts of books.

At the center of the room was a huge tree that reached the dome, its leaves provided a shade in the room which made it all the more peaceful, its roots appeared and disappeared at random areas in the room, at its base was a circular mini flower bed with flowers of different colors. The floor was made of grey-silver marble that didn't reflect too much light but just enough to increase the room's brightness with the multiple small rays of light entering.

The walls and the dome were covered with a few vines here and there and on the biggest branch was a huge hanging clock. It was like a grandfather clock but instead of a casing it has none as for that hand that moved back and forth it was moving freely in space with a barely visible thin thread attaching it to the clock. The clock wasn't really hanging because when we moved it rotated around the tree following our general direction.

As for our beds, we bought multiple, some lay in the tree while some are in the mini libraries so we can sleep anywhere now we also bought a whole lot of chairs of different variations that were spread around the room. The left side of the room was dedicated to me while the right was dedicated to Nobe. On the left side was a big wooden table facing the central tree and a king-sized bed besides it, on the table were a lot of opened books and disorganized papers as well as random pieces of machinery here and there.

There were also two doors to the right, one labeled [Bathroom] and the other labeled [Lab]. The lab was basically a contraption creation room for me. As for the right side was practically a kitchen,

Nobe decided to make the kitchen part of his room. Entering what could not be called a room anymore, I looked at the tree and found Jethro sitting on a branch looking at us, Nobe seemed to not have noticed and continued on his merry way until I grabbed his arm and pointed at Jethro in the tree.

"When we said you are free to decorate your rooms as you please, we didn't imagine you would turn your room into this." Jethro finally spoke after Nobe gasped in fear. A moment later we saw Jethro's figure vanish.

Nobe looked around frantically while I just turned to the door and walked out and locked the door from the outside 'sorry Nobe your gonna have to deal with this yourself.' I knew Jethro was still in the room, I felt his confused gaze as I walked out, he vanished to the kitchen. And with that I teleported to my comfort spot in the tree in the compound.
