THREE: DREAM

Reese tossed and turned in bed, she was very uncomfortable.

What Scarlett said disturbed her greatly, especially the part were she said;

'IGNORANCE IS BETTER'

The way she said it really haunted her, it sounded eerie and deadly, like a warning in horror movies. Ever since Scarlett left, Reese thought deeply about her words....

'So what if they're real Reese, what if they live with us? What if they also partake in everything we do Reese?....you know, even the bible said 'ignorance is better'. What if you find one and your experience with it won't be as great as the movies or books you watch and read Reese...what if they're hideous and very dangerous?'.....

Reese shivered at the question. Deeply she knew she wouldn't be able to handle them, she was as frightened as a little mouse inwardly...she had always fantasized about vampires kissing her, even sucking her blood...

But to come to think of it now, that would be very impossible. She hated injections talk more of sharp fangs.

It was already past eleven into the night and she couldn't sleep, her whole body was on alert. Every slight noise she heard always made her heart race.

She wondered how Penelope in the novel 'YOUNG MASTER DAMIEN'S PET' was able to cope sleeping in the same room with a vampire.

Though Damien wasn't that eerie...oh, and there was Evie in 'SPELLBOUND,' she was surrounded by vampires but she coped well.

What if they're not scary?

What if they are cool like Gavriel in 'SPELLBOUND' or Leon in 'BAMBI AND THE DUKE'?

What if they're very understanding?

Reese began to relax when she recalled the characters in books she read that were vampires but not scary.

Reese turned her table lamp off and darkness filled her room. She sighed and sunk her head into her pillow.

She turned to her left and closed her eyes. After two minutes she opened them again and darted her eyes about in the dark, when she was satisfied she slowly closed them again.

One, two, three....four seconds later she opened her eyes again and searched the room with her eyes. Her room was dark but one could still see things clearly because of the moonlight shinning through her window.

She held onto the rosary around her neck and mumbled a short prayer before trying once more to go to sleep.

After trying so hard to fall asleep for over ten minutes she finally slept.

.....Reese tossed and turned in bed, she was very uncomfortable.

She couldn't sleep and it frustrated her. Opening her eyes she sat upright on her bed before turning on her table lamp to brighten her dark room.

"REESE!"

Her brother banged hard at her door, she was so fed up with Ethelbert. Its time she clip that mouth of his since he didn't have respect. She got out of bed and unlocked the door before opening it.

"WHAT!"

She screamed, but to her surprise no one was outside her door.

"ETHEL! Stop this childish play..." Reese's voice echoed through the small passage.

"REEEEESE!!"

This time his voice came downstairs, the way he screamed her name frightened her...it sounded like he was in trouble. She shut the door after her and hurried through the quiet dark passage.

She got to the staircase and began to descend, her eyes searched the dark living room while she was descending the stairs, she caught sight of a figure in black hovering over someone who laid unmoving on the floor.

The room felt cold, eerily cold and she shivered.

"Ethel?" She carefully called out but there was no reply. Something didn't sit well with her, when she strained her eyes she was able to recognize the figure who laid on the floor....though she couldn't see the rest of him because someone hovered over him.

"ETHEL!" Reese shrieked, her brain jolted and she slowly ascended the stairs backwards when the person hovering over her brother moved his shoulders.

"Reese...is that you?"

Reese shivered in fright when the person spoke, his voice sounded calm like breeze but it resonated round the living room.

His head slowly turned with a cracking sound, Reese wanted to bolt out of there but something held her in place....panic seized her, she was strongly aware and shaken by the man's presence.

His head kept turning until he faced her. Reese screamed at the top of her voice at the horror scene before her eyes. His face was turned completely to his back and red blood dripped out of his lips, his sharp fangs were stained with blood.

His face was pale white and decayed at his left cheek, chin and forehead all the way to his right eye.

Reese couldn't take her eyes off the hideous creature as she kept screaming for help in desperation, tears filled her eyes and her body ran cold when he stood up slowly and turned his body to meet his head.

"Why are you screaming? I thought you liked me." He spoke calmly amidst her shoutings and cries for help. He slowly took a step and Reese's eyes widened when she realized what he was doing.

"DAD!!!!!!" Reese called out to her dad but there was no reply.

"They won't come Reese...its just the two of us now." She was slowly losing her consciousness and it terrified her, she didn't want to faint here, that would be risky because she might wake up in another dimension.

The man was horrible and he disgusted and irritated her, she wept loudly when he took another step.

"No!!!! Please NO!!! Don't come any close!!!" Reese kept pleading and the man burst into laughter, she shivered terribly in fright because his laughter sounded heavy like a demon from hell...it resonated heavily and shook the room.

"Pleasssssse!!!"

Fear gripped her entire being. He stopped laughing and stared intensely at her....this was the scariest moment Reese ever witnessed in her entire life.

Worst of all was when he vanished into thin air. Reese became alert and vigilant, she searched everywhere with her eyes but couldn't find any sign of him.

She slowly tried moving and to her relief she moved, she cautiously went back upstairs, her eyes were on her brother who laid lifeless with red blood flowing out of his neck.

Reese looked away in tears, she couldn't bring herself to approach a dead body....her body shook. When she safely got back to the top of the stairs, her eyes were still on her brother, she feared that he might rise up and attack her.

Her breathing came out loud and heavy, she tried to control it but it was difficult...she could even hear her heart clearly.

She tried to calm down but when she heard a creak sound downstairs, adrenaline shot through her veins and she sprang away into the dark passage.

But....she crashed face to face with the man from earlier. Their faces was just an inch apart.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh"....

Reese screamed and sat up abruptly in shock and great fright. Her whole body shook violently and she quickly turn her table lamp on...she tried to relax but couldn't, even when she knew it was only a dream.
