FOUR: SHE TOLD THEM

That night Reese couldn't sleep again, she stayed up all night with her lamp on...the dream felt so real and it really frightened her.

Most times she had horrible dreams but this one couldn't be compared to others...it was a 'NIGHTMARE'.

She sat up all night praying and hoping the dream didn't come true...

When morning arrived, that was when she gave in to sleep...but after ten minutes, her brother knocked her door.

"Oh Reeeeese...wakey wakey."

She groaned and covered herself with the blanket in annoyance, she was grateful her door was locked from inside, if not Ethelbert would've tortured her to death.

After much knocking, Ethelbert finally left to her relief and she sighed. It didn't take long for her to enter her own dreamworld and she smiled...

"Take my hand Reese, I won't hurt you..."

His voice filled her ears and drew her to him like magnet. He had a dazzling smile strong enough to weaken her knees...Reese stretched out her right arm in his direction and placed her open palm on his w....WAIT!

Reese's eyes went wide, everything had a deja vu feeling and she gasped but the young gentleman frowned slightly when he noticed her sudden change in expression.

"What's the problem Reese?"

His voice made her mind sway briefly, it was enticing but Reese stepped back away from him with a wary look.

"Reese?" He looked disappointed at her behavior.

"I've seen you before..." Reese tried to recall where she met him because she knew deep down that they did the same thing from earlier.

"What are you talking about Reese?" He took a step to approach her but Reese stepped away and he frowned again.

"Don't come any nearer." Reese warned and quickly dashed out of the room. Reese subconsciously looked down to see what she was wearing because she couldn't run well.

She was wearing a shouty red ball gown....huh?

While she struggled to walk fast she looked round and discovered she was in an empty castle...

Reese's heart skipped a bit, the place was dark but she could still see some things.

"REESE!"

A man's voice thundered and Reese's heart jumped, almost giving her a heart attack.

Searching for an exit, Reese hurried round the wide room in panic...how did she even get here in the first place?

"You can't leave me Reese...not this time." Shivers ran down her spine when his voice resonated round the room.

Reese's breathing turned heavy and she gripped her chest to calm down, she searched for a place to hide when she heard the sound of shoes far away.

Reese wanted to shed tears when she found no hideout, the shoes kept making noise, signifying he was close.

Reese hurried over to the window where large curtains covered it. She hid behind the curtains and tried to unlock the window so she could jump out if necessary. Her heart was racing, she couldn't even breath for fear that he might catch her.

Finally she unlocked the window, when she opened it her eyes went wide in shock and fright.

The height was deadly and a long way to go...worst of all, at the bottom was a wide river....

The strong wind blew through her hair and she shivered. She felt a cool breath against her neck and her eyes enlarged in realization...her whole body turned rigid even her brain denied her...

What should she do??

A tear slid down her left eye as she stared ahead through the open window into the night.

"Why are you running away from me Reese?" His cool voice filled her ears and she shivered at the coldness of his breath.

"ANSWER ME!"

He roared and unexpectedly turned her speedily to face him, when Reese's eyes landed on his face she lost consciousness....

...Reese screamed and thrashed out of her bed in fright, she ran to her door and unlocked it before running past the passage and downstairs.

"Reese?" Her mother whipped her face from the TV to face the disheveled Reese.

Reese didn't give her mom a reply, her heart was thumping wildly and her breathing came out shallow and difficult. She ran to her mom and burst into tears when she embraced her.

Matilda had a lost expression, she didn't even know what to do.

"Its alright darling....its alright..."

"ITS NOT A-ALRIGHT." Reese shouted and faced her confused mother.

"I-i ha-had a terrible nightmare..."

It took all of Reese's strength to say that to her mom. Ethelbert rushed in from the kitchen when he heard his sister cry. He slowly walked up to them with a small frown on his face.

"What's going on?"

He questioned but they ignored him. It amazed Ethelbert to see his sister in such an aweful state. He wanted to laugh heartily but he didn't, he didn't want his mom scolding him.

It took twenty minutes before Reese calmed down, Matilda kept patting her on the back to ease whatever was bothering her.

Reese slowly moved away and her mom let her go. Her eyes looked heavy and tired, she even had dark eye bags. Her hair looked like a bird nest. Matilda turned extremely worried.

"What's the problem Reese?"

"Did your vampire boyfriend break up with you?" Ethelbert joked with a wide grin, it felt so good to tease his sister.

This time Reese didn't retort, she looked scared.

"L-last n-night I dreamt...I dreamt about...I mean I...I had a bad dream...it...it felt so real..." Reese sniffled and tears gathered her eyes again when she remembered the horrific scene.

"A...a vampire came to this house."

Ethelbert burst out laughing when he heard what Reese said, it sounded so silly and stupid to his ears...she always fantasized about vampires living in her room so why was she all worked up when she dreamt about them coming to their house. Matilda glared at Ethelbert but he kept laughing.

"I'M SERIOUS ETHEL!"

Reese yelled at him, her voice sounded desperate and scared. Ethelbert stopped laughing and became serious.

"Continue dear, don't listen to Ethel." Her mom encouraged her.

"It felt so real mom...like it was really happening, its still imprinted in my mind like an event that took place mom...I can still see terrible images of what happened."

"Mind sharing them with us?"

Ethelbert inquired and Reese nodded rapidly, she looked so adorable like a scared rabbit to Ethel's eyes and he laughed again.

"I'm sorry mom...sorry...pft-hahahaha...she looks.."

"Ethel be serious, can't you see Reese isn't joking? Have you ever seen her this way over a mere dream?"

Well what his mom said actually made sense, this was the first time Reese looked disastrous over a dream...

"Didn't you pray before going to bed?"

"I did Ethel."

"Don't mind him Reese, please tell me what happened." Matilda pressed and Reese narrated the whole story to them.
