43: THE ENCOUNTER

"Ethel! Ethel!! Ethelbert!!!"

Huffing heavily, Scarlett sat on their small lawn. She was exhausted and needed water as soon as possible.

Where were they?

Why did they go out so early?

Was it regarding Reese's case?

And it was then she realized that she didn't take her phone with her.

"Scarlett, you're unbelievable," she muttered to herself while in disbelief.

Worse, they had no nearby neighbours. How frustrating.

She sat there for almost an hour, watching the less busy neighbourhood. Her eyes became heavy with sleep and so she stood up, picked her bicycle and rode it by her side as she went to the backyard of the house.

She parked it properly before going to sit on the couch which was kept at their backyard veranda.

The sleep left her eyes and she searched the backyard as if she would find the key to the house.

Getting up, she took few steps to the back door and tried to open it.
