45: UNEXPECTED

Her dull eyes stared at the large portrait on the wall with undivided attention.

What a handsome man he was, she thought to herself.

This was what she wanted, she wanted to experience what it felt like to be with a vampire as his lover…but she never wanted to become a vampire.

She never dreamt of becoming one.

She never wanted her life to be a nightmare. Her heart felt heavy, very heavy and she wanted to weep so badly but she couldn't.

Her life was gloomy, dark and pitiful but she could bear with it all because of the man in the portrait.

He had somehow managed to steal her dead heart.

"You seem to love that picture more than me," a voice spoke behind her and she turned to face him.

"Are you jealous of your own picture now?" She asked in slight surprise and he smiled dreamily at her.

They gazed into each other's eyes and silent words were spoken. Her eyes became teary and she quickly blinked them back before breaking eye contact with him.
