Blacksmith

Calvin wandered around aimlessly with no specific goal in his mind but to explore the whole village. While exploring, he came across a shop that sells many things.

One of those is a lesser health potion, a middle 1st grade potion that recovers 50 health in 10 seconds and cost 5 copper coins. There was also a lesser mana potion that recovers 50 mana in 10 seconds and cost 3 copper coins.

He bought 5 of each type of potions for now, leaving him with 58 copper coins on his bag.

He also managed to learn from the kind shopkeeper that potions have different purity when made and depending on the purity, it decides the subgrade of the resulting potion. It was only a little bit of information but nonetheless he managed to learn something making him happy.

He also a bought a full leather set armor from the shop which consists of 5 pieces: the chest, arms, gloves, legs, and boots which comes to a total of 30 coppers, reducing his coins to 28.

All of the armor are in the middle 1st grade. At this point, he guessed that the purpose of the subgrades in the items is based on the quality of an item judging by the armor which was decently made in his opinion.

The armor pieces only has a single stat which is defence. All the pieces except the chest has 1 defence while the chest piece has 2.

Though it was low, Calvin didn't really care since it was to be expected from a cheap armor.

After equipping it, he felt like a proper adventurer now which made him grin in excitement.

He bid goodbye to the shopkeeper and continued looking around the village. A few minutes passed and he saw a building with a hammer sign symbol in front of it.

"The blacksmith building?" Calvin muttered while looking at the sign. Looking around, he also saw other buildings with signs that likely points to other types of professions.

'So this is the street where the profession buildings are. Good since I want to get my profession now as well. The question is, what though?'

Calvin started thinking again. This time, he didn't want to use a roulette wheel like what he did with his class since there were some professions that he didn't really like compared to the origin classes which he didn't mind being anyone of them.

'Should I go blacksmith? I mean I am interested in making weapons and things. Hmm.' Calvin fell into deep thought.

After a few seconds passed, he came to a decision and took a step towards the blacksmith building.

The reason why he wanted to be a blacksmith is simply because he thinks that making weapons are cool.

Entering the building, Calvin immediately looked around and headed to the reception area where a man was sitting behind a table. There were already some players sitting on the right side of the building as if their waiting for something.

Calvin glanced at them for a moment before walking to the man and asking, "Hello sir. May I ask if this is where I can become a blacksmith?"

The man looked at him and replied with a smile. "Yes. But in order for you to become a blacksmith you need to pass a test first. The test will be conducted later so if you can, please sit there for a moment until we call you."

Calvin said with a smile, "I understand and thank you for your help."

"No problem."

Calvin walked to the side and sat in a vacant seat a bit far away from the other. Since he didn't really have anything to do, he decided to continue in trying to control his mana.

'Lets start small first. Maybe that will work.' Calvin thought as closed his eyes and felt the mana inside him. He imagined some mana moving to his arm. Unfortunately just like the last time it didn't work as well.

He tried to do it a few more times until he felt a bit tired. Sighing, he opened his eyes and smiled bitterly, 'Still nothing. It's so hard and tiring. And I thought it will be easy.'

Calvin started to think about what he was doing wrong. 'There should be some secret behind it but what?'

Calvin fell into deep thought as he tried to guess the secret of using his mana. After a few seconds, an idea suddenly appeared in his head.

'How about I connect my mind to it first. Its like how my mind is able to move my body unconsciously since my mind is fully aware of my body from the start. But for mana, that isn't the case since this is the first time I experienced something like this.'

The more he think along this line of thought, the more it seemed to be the case.

'Let's try it.' Calvin thought with an excited smile. He shook it off and closed his eyes again while trying to calm his emotions.

He put his entire focus inside him and this time he didn't just imagine moving his mana. Instead, he willed it as if he is forcing his mind to work and gain control over his mana while taking deep and long breaths. He thought that breathing would be of help since in most fantasy worlds, breathing is one of the most common ways to gather mana from the surroundings.

So he thought, 'Why not try to gather mana as well so I can feel my mana even more clearly and understand how to move it.'

In just a few minutes, he felt his "vision" of his mana grow clearer and he could feel the mana in the air that he breathes.

Also, when he first started trying again, he didn't feel anything weird when he was breathing. But as time pass, he could feel the mana in the air. He found out that its always in the air that he breathes. Of course, the mana didn't stay inside him and comes out eventually when he exhales.

But he was more than happy enough since now he could feel the mana inside him easily now. Even when he's not doing it consciously, he could still feel it was there though fainter than doing it consciously. Compared to earlier where he could only feel it consciously, his sense for mana definitely improved by a large margin.

He was still far from being able to use it but he suspect that it won't be long before he can use it at will. Just that thought made him excited in the future and a smile appeared on his face.

For now, he's more than satisfied. He'll try again later since he's feeling tired again.

Calvin opened his eyes and took a deep breath to calm his emotions. He unconsciously looked around and saw that there were new players. Some of the players were looking at him with a weird look.

He smiled bitterly and just ignored them as best as he could. He could slightly hear them muttering something and his face felt hotter as he started to feel embarrassed.

Good thing that he didn't need to suffer for long as the man he talked with earlier came up to them.

All eyes turned towards him and he smiled back before saying. "Good day players. Let me introduce myself first. My name is Arlo, a member of the blacksmith guild. The test is about to start so please follow me."
