Dagger

Every player picked out their own forging stations and immediately got to their own things.

Calvin first looked at the book that Jack gave him before doing anything else. He found out that the book focuses on teaching the steps on how to create a dagger while explaining some of the fundamentals in forging in between steps.

He found it very useful because it was specific on teaching and also very detailed.

Looking to the side, he finds a leather apron in the table beside him. He looked at the other players and saw that they were already wearing aprons so he wore it himself.

He then started forging the blade of the dagger based on the book. He inserted the ingot on the furnace, heated, hammered it and put it back again.

The process remained the same as to what Jack did but Calvin's slower since he doesn't know a thing about forging at all so he's trying to be as slow and careful as possible.

From time to time, he would also look at the book. He payed more attention to the details given by the book about the fundamentals of forging rather than the steps itself.

The more he spent time on forging, the more he got into it. There was just a certain feeling that comes with making weapons that's very interesting for him. He's feeling so much fun that he doesn't even notice the smile that's plastered on his face the whole time.

Though if he is to complain about something, then its the heat. If before the heat is a bit uncomfortable, now when he's facing the furnace directly the heat went beyond uncomfortable.

Sweat constantly rolled down his face which he kept wiping off and in just a few minutes, he felt sticky all over his body. But he payed it no mind and focused his all in forging the dagger.

During the time he's forging, he also found out something from the book which he expected already. One can use mana during forging to improve the quality of the item that your forging.

But even if he learned of this fact, he can't really control his mana yet so its useless for now. He'll just try it in the future when he can control his mana.

As time pass by, the original block of ingot gradually turned into the shape of a straight dagger with two bladed edges. He didn't try anything too fancy in case that he might ruin things so he opted for a simple and easy dagger shape.

After he completed forging the blade, it resulted to a relatively straight dagger. There some uneven edges but that was to be expected from a first timer like him.

He then filed the blade to make the edges flat and proceeded to insert the blade into the wooden handle that was already prepared. After that came the process of sharpening it using a whetstone and it was finished.

It took him 50 minutes to create the dagger. It was way longer than Jack since there were times where he would pause to read the book and he's a beginner. Though the main reason why is there were more steps he did than what Jack demonstrated.

He guessed that it was because Jack used his mana during forging which made it easier and far more efficient unlike him who can't so he needs to stick to the longer process of forging.

A system notification appeared in front of him as soon as he finished making the dagger.

[Congratulations! You have made a middle 1st grade item, Iron dagger! Gained 20 exp!]

[Congratulations! You have successfully become a lower 1st grade blacksmith!]

[You have gained 1 point in endurance and 1 point in strength!]

[You have unlocked the stat, Fire resistance!]

[You have gained 1 point in fire resistance!]

Calvin smiled with happiness as he saw the system notification. He felt proud when he saw that he made a middle 1st grade dagger. This means that what he made is at a standard quality which is for him more than enough.

The added stats is also the cause of his happiness, especially the 1 point in fire resistance. He didn't expect that it would be this easy to gain fire resistance.

However, he didn't forget the fact that most of the time, it was easy to gain something at first but harder to get it later. So most likely, it will be lot harder to increase his fire resistance later.

Out of curiosity, he inspected the dagger in his hand.

[Iron dagger, Middle 1st grade]

Attack: 5

Even though its of better quality than his sickle but has the same attack stat , the dagger is undoubtedly better since its easier and faster to use than the bigger and heavier sickle.

After he cleaned up the station he used, he distanced himself from the furnace and sat down on a nearby stool while wiping his sweat from his face. There were still some time left before the 1 hour ends and he decided to just sit down and relax while looking at the other players.

There were some that were already done and is observing the others just like Calvin. Just like Calvin, happiness is etched on their faces as well. But there more players who are still busy in making their daggers.

Time passed by and soon all the players were finished. Jack clapped to get their attention again and said. "Ok since all of you are finished, hand me the daggers and I'll inspect them."

They walked up to him and handed their daggers to him. After getting all the daggers, Jack smiled while pointing at many doors in one side of the room, "In the meantime, you guys can wash up there. Just be quick though."

The players nodded and followed his instructions. They were sweaty and sticky so they were more than happy to wash up and feel refreshed. Thought the surprise couldn't be hidden in their faces when they learned that bathing can also be done in this game.

It took the players less than 10 minutes to all wash up since there were many rooms and they were in a rush since they were excited for the results.

The refreshed players stood in front of Jack, some showing nervousness and others confidence.

Jack smiled and said, "You guys are just in time. I'll now announce the results of this test."
