Chapter 104 In the capital

"He saved you?" asked Marissa, unsure of what to make of it.

Rowan nodded, the group grew deathly quiet as they looked at the young rich man with a new light, they didn't know that he was so strong, strong enough to fight a group of magician bandits and leave alive.

The thing was that they themselves weren't that weak and would have probably been able to defeat the bandits with ease if they work together, but they instead left the old man and ran away.

'Though it was the old man himself that told them to leave, whatever.' Rovid didn't wit round as he went inside the carriage, Rowan shook his head in disappointment as he followed and sat at the front, ready to drive.

"I am disappointed in you, Marissa," he said as everyone got on, the atmosphere grew weird as the group kept to themselves all the way.

Marissa kept her head down all the way, probably burdened by the words of Rowan, though Robin wasn't gonna act like a messiah, he wasn't so kind.

It took a whole day, but they finally arrived at the Royal capital, A big line was formed outside as everyone wanted to go in.

"Here, Sir Robin," Rowan handed a letter to Robin with a smile.

"What's this?" asked Robin.

"It's a way for Sir Robin to get it, it's the least I can do for what the kids did to you, I hope you can forgive them for their actions," Continued Rowan.

Robin looked at the scroll in hand, 'I could just use haze and go inside, but let's go the normal way for once.' Robin nodded.

"Don't worry old man, I am not a petty person, I will be leaving then."

"Of course, may we meet again, Sir Robin," Rowan bowed as Robin left, showing the scroll to the outpost, before he was easily allowed to go in.

"Father! Why would you give him the scroll, it is Family heirloom," Marissa spoke from the side.

Although they were both not talking much, that didn't mean she was going to ignore this.

"Don't speak about what you don't understand, this is an investment, I have never been wrong in an investment," Rowan smiled mysteriously as he looked at his daughter.

It seemed the duo had a rather big secret that they didn't share, though Robin felt too tired to speak of it, or even think bout it.

"God! My butt hurts, never riding carriage again, let's look for good place to eat and rest for a bit, there are still a few hours before the examination," with that, Robin used his extraordinary sense to look for the best-smelling food, arriving at a moderate looking inn as he did so.

"Let's hope I have enough on me," he muttered as he opened the door and went inside. The place was lively as everyone enjoyed their food and booze while talking, seeing as there were many people with luggage on them, Robin knew there were many young and aspiring kids yearning to be magic knights among the crowd, and although he wasn't carrying any luggage, it didn't mean he didn't stand out.

His clothes were exquisite, even though most wouldn't be able to tell what material they were made of as it was the hide of a demon beast, but they knew the one that came in is a rich man.

As soon as he sat down, a young woman walked towards him with light steps as she introduced

"Welcome to the moonlit restaurant and inn, what would you like to order, Sir." She spoke with a sweet tone.

Robin felt he was treated very differently from the others, though no one would be bothering him as this wasn't some bullshit cliche scene.

"Bring me your best dish, and I would like to get some rest, so a room for a day as well," spoke Robin.

"Right away sir, please wait a few minutes as our finest chefs make your food as I bring you around to your room," She spoke.

Robin nodded as he was led to a room, he looked around the place, it sure looked luxurious, he could always run away if he couldn't pay, Robin thought as he laid down on the bed,

"Ahhh! So soft, I just wanna sleep for a few hours!"

Though before he could leave for the dreamland, the door of his room was knocked as the same sweet voice sounded from the other side,

"Sir! Your food has been prepared,"

"Come in,"

"Yes."

*Click*

The door opened as the aroma spread in the air, Robin couldn't help but take a whiff as the food was placed on the table as the lady left after some pleasant words.

"Let's dig in,"

"So this the place where the examination is going to be held, nice," Robin commented as he looked at the giant coliseum teeming with thousands of people.

With a bit of push in his steps, he made way for the registration area, it wouldn't be the wrong to say he was both excited and nervous.
