CHAPTER 20: GRANDFATHER'S ARRIVAL

Outside the restaurant, Mia thanked Ryan for the lunch. Normally she would have ordered for her food if Ryan was not there and spending time with him made her know why people would want to be part of his family . With the few moments she has spent with him , mia came to a conclusion that Ryan isn't as cold as people described him to be, at least to her he is not. She felt awkward eating in front of him even though he didn't order anything for himself it was still weird in her case.

A car then came to stop in front of her . Surprised she looked at Ryan who gave her a signal to get in "there's no need "she rejected "I insist "Ryan replied "you really don't have to" Mia said .

Any girl In mia's position would have immediately agreed and after a little argument she agreed when he prevented her from boarding a cab that she had already stopped. Ryan watched as the car drove off ,he then went to his own car and got inside. He drove the car until he got to his mansion, stepping out Ryan went straight towards the kitchen and he noticed that Lucy was not home yet. He then took off his jacket and prepared himself something to eat . It got ready few minutes later. Ryan sat down as he calmly ate his food and he slowly chewed it .Ryan felt relaxed mostly because of Mia and partly because his brother and cousin are not home to bother him .

By evening time Lucy and Jason were already home both of them ignoring each other for the mean time. Lucy laid on the couch while Jason was opposite her,thee was chips on the table in between them . Lucy couldn't care less about what Jason was doing ,she wasn't in the mood to fight with him .It's was very rare for them to not fight ,and Ryan on the other was expecting a fight to break out between them since he was at the other side of the room. Lucy reached her hand to take chips from the bowl after finishing the one she chewed.

Lucy didn't feel anything as she sat upright to find the bowl empty "how could she finish all that chips so soon? "she thought. she was sure she brought more than enough. Her gaze shifted to Jason and she saw some chips in his hand,he had been eating it with her all along.She stood up angrily and stump to Jason then grabbed the chips from his hand before she threw it to the floor , but Jason didn't react immediately "what was that for?" he questioned "why did you eat it?"Lucy asked back.

At first Jason didn't know what she was talking about but later figured that she was talking about the chips "oh this?, you didn't buy them and besides there's more than enough in the house" he replied "if you knew that there's more than enough why didn't you just get yours " Lucy retorted angrily and Ryan was expecting this ,he decided not to interfere with their matter as he stood up and went upstairs without their knowledge and leaving the two of them to fight .

Jason was already getting pissed off by Lucy 's ranting as he stood up to hold her from the back of neck and Lucy wanted to get out of his grip when the door opened .Both gazes shifted to the direction of the door and Jason immediately let go of Lucy,who immediately ran to hug the person who had just entered while Jason knew that he would be in trouble.

He stood there as he watched the old man kiss his cousin on the head "damn " he cursed in his head , his grandfather was the least person he was expecting but then he didn't surprise Jason, as he wondered if his brother knew about the old man's arrival. He scratched the back of his neck as his grandpa approached him while Lucy stuck out her tongue to Jason "he's definitely in trouble " Jason glared at Lucy in response

He then felt pain on his leg as he winced, his grandpa had hit Jason 's leg with his stick "grandpa , she started it" he tried to explain himself "that's not an excuse "the old man replied and at the other side, Lucy couldn't hold her laughter as she kept on giggling while Jason gets beaten she was the one who gets spoilt because she is the only girl in the family. She was enjoying the scene in front of her , she would have gotten the entire thing on video but didn't have are phone with her . she saw Jason trying to avoid getting beaten,he had the chance to escape but wouldn't dare knowing that he would get into trouble later so he decided to endure the pain once and for all.

His grandpa stopped after noticing ryan coming down the stairs and he was not at all surprised by his grandfather's presence "what are you doing here?" Ryan asked ignoring Jason "now, that's a rude way to welcome your grandfather "replied his grandfather and Ryan narrow his eyes descending the stairs , just like the old man Ryan was also stubborn and the air felt tense , Lucy who was smiling earlier was starting to feeling uncomfortable

With a smile the grandpa said we'll discuss this at dinner and Ryan did not reply as he spared Jason a look.

Then dinner came and the whole family sat at the dinning table with place quiet,both Jason and Lucy didn't think of fighting with their grandpa around ,the quite room making the entire dinner not lively , a very uncomfortable thing for both Lucy and Jason. They both have the same thing in mind and that's for the dinner to be over as soon as possible. They weren't used to the gloomy atmosphere, and they didn't want to do anything stupid either.

The dinner went on quietly only the sound of the cutlery could be heard with everyone having nothing to say to the other.

The most affected was Lucy, she wasn't used to this kind of family dinner , she wanted to escape from this place, away from this atmosphere "why didn't you answer me when I called "grandpa said breaking the awful silence. Ryan didn't answer immediately and instead took his time to reply "you didn't call because it is important, so I did not answer "he said curtly . Ryan was getting on his grandpa's nerves and he clearly knew the reason why he came to pay him a visit, he was being rude and grandpa was not going to accept such behaviour coming from him.

Jason who was listening carefully, looked between his brother and grandfather , he knew this was going to happen , Ryan was proving stubborn and Jason was imagining the end result of this conversation, he then put a piece of his food in his mouth as he slowly paid attention to their conversation. It wasn't his business,but he feels that since it is a matter of the family he should listen.

"do you want me to die before I see my great grandchildren "grandpa said firmly "I'm not the only child, so why are they pestering me " he complained in his head "grandpa his right brother "Lucy spoke looking at Ryan , she completely agreed with her grandpa. Ryan didn't want to continue the conversation so he stood up and left the dinning room without saying anything ,he didn't want the old man to do something he does not approve of.

His grandfather might have talked to him calmly , Ryan knew he might plan something he doesn't want .Grandpa watched as Ryan left the dinning table and thought that he will have to take matter into his hand sooner or later .
