CHAPTER 21; DISAPPOINTED

Morning came as the sun shone on Ryan face and he opened his eyes few seconds later, he had been awake since four o'clock and wanted to keep himself busy.For some reason, he couldn't sleep properly, he was used to sleeping late since he gets tired at the end of working but he couldn't fall asleep last night and that's why he decided to keep himself busy. He stood up,then slowly walked to the window , opening the window completely he embraced the fresh air as he took in deep breaths. He then moved towards the desk on his room and stared at the table that was in a mess , papers were scattered on the desk and he took his time to arrange them.

He didn't feel like staying at home and didn't want to have an argument with his grandfather .

Downstairs lucy and Jason sat oposite each other, there was a table in between and on the table was a monopoly game , both attention were on the game, apart from fighting with each other and getting irritated with each other, both were good companies. There was a pin drop silence in the room and only the sounds of the dice being rolled could be heard, both attention were on the game that they didn't notice Ryan until he cleared his throat , they both looked at him "good morning "lucy greeted and so did Ryan "aren't you having breakfast with us?"jason asked "no" Ryan replied to his brother's question.

He had thought to let them know that he would not be around in case his grandfather asked . There was only one question on both lucy and Jason minds and that was where Ryan was going to. They both watched as he left the house before continuing with their game and silence filled the room again . "I saw Alexa yesterday "lucy broke the silence "really? "jason confirmed to receive a nod from lucy , he didn't know that Alex was in the country already as he didn't tell him.

And now he wondered where lucy saw Alexa , he was going to deal with Alex himself "did you see her brother? "he asked again and lucy shook her head. "disappointed? "he said "who?"lucy asked knowing where this was going "I just thought that since you didn't get to see Alex , you would be disappointed "he rolled the dice . Lucy felt like strangling him at that moment and Jason who saw her expression said " it okay ,it's not bad if you feel something for him , it is natural and don't worry I would bring forward a marriage proposal "he teased and this had lucy take the half full bottle of water and throw it at jason who dodge it as he kept laughing, he enjoyed teasing lucy.

While he was laughing his grandfather came down from the stairs "where's your brother, "he asked to both of them .

The door was pushed open and Ryan entered ,he looked around the vast room which was quiet that had Ryan wonder if there was any one there. He slowly walked inside and to the direction where he was hoping Mia was there. He got there to see a staff sweeping the floor full of fabrics who was startled seeing Ryan.

"how can I help you sir?"she asked ,her voice a little shaky, Ryan instead of answering her looked around, he couldn't find Mia any where in the room. He turned around to leave and almost reaching the door , it was opened and Mia came in ,she had books on her hand, there was surprise written on her face as she closed the door behind her .

She finished Ryan suit in just a day that had him impressed, he stared at the suit as he carefully observed it while Mia was taking a look at his expression "do you like it? "she asked curious to know what he thinks bit he didn't answer immediately . His silence was making Mia impatient , she wanted to hear hos reply . She rarely makes the dresses because that was hannah's job , she had told hannah to make the dress who said she was tired and made Mia make it instead . The silence that came from Ryan was killing Mia , she was desperate to hear his reply and she decided to look around the room to distract herself but she later changed her mind "it's great "Ryan finally said .

"really?"Mia confirmed before she realised how stupid her question sounded but Ryan didn't reply and Mia took the chance to take the suit from him and pack it properly before she returned to him with a smile and he took it from her " I thought he would complain " Mia thought then she heard ryan saying "i want you to make another suit like this one, but a little different " 'okay" mia replied while nodding.

Her gaze then shifted to see the last person she was expecting to see "excuse me" she said to ryan who watched as she walked towards a woman that he thought she might know.

"why are you here? ,I thought you liked high class malls " mia said a tone of sacasm evident in her voice "I do" sasha replied actually. She seemed to be in a good mood that had mia wonder why "you seemed to be in a good mood today " mia said "what are you here for?"she asked . she wasn't planning to prolong the conversation as she only want to get this over with . Not wasting her time mia turned to leave when..."your mum.."sasha said and mia stopped in her tracks "why would sasha mention her mum? "she thought "what happened to her ?"she asked after turning to face sasha.

She hoped sasha hasn't done anything ,there was a grin on sasha's face . She knew that it was enough to get mia's attention ,she couldn't stop the smile from appearing on her face she shifted to look at ryan who was behind and he could hear their conversation.

"didn't you hear what I said, what about my mum? " mia demanded from sasha as she was getting inpatient. She couldn't help but feel that something was not right , she hoped her mum was okay. "I ran into her sasha replied "oh ,no what I meant was my car ran into her so ... I'm sure you know what happened next " and this was enough to make mia start raging .

"what did you do?"mia whispered "it's was actually All of us that was in the car, so figure it out yourself , its not like you dont know your mum's condition "sasha ended her talk before she left the place "all of us?" mia whispered when she heard he phone ring and ryan who was at the other side of the room and heard everything saw mia ran to reach her phone.

She then picked it up "hello? "she said as she was feeling restless , her heart was beating rapidly as she listened to the person at the other side of the phone "which one is it?"mia asked with tears slipping from her eyes. She hurriedly ran our of the room and ryan decided to go after her , he could tell that she was worried and the girl she just talked to was not a friend at all. As soon as he got out of the building, the cab mia took drove off

Mia , inside the cab told the driver to drive faster as it stop in front of the hospital building, she hoped her mum was okay she couldn't stop her heart from beating rapidly . She then ran inside as she passed by people . she ran into a nurse and luckily it was the nurse that was assisting her mother's doctor as she described her mother to the nurse who immediately told her the ward number.

Opening the door , her mum was lying on the hospital bed and there was a doctor who was checking on her , there was no major injuries on her "but why isn't she awake?"

The doctor then noticed mia as he confirmed her to be the patient's relative . "luckily there are no major injuries " and hearing that mia felt relieved "but we discovered that she's been diagnosed with leukaemia " this had mia shocked, she never knew that her mother was sick "how come mum never told me? "she wondered .
