CHAPTER 74: COINCIDENTAL

"the weather sure is cold this morning" lily murmured enough for her daughter to hear. This brought a small smile on Mia's lips as she replied "the rain had only completely stopped this morning"

"that's right,I'm sure people are still sleeping in their beds" she hummed while her hand moved to caress Mia's black hair s,she looked down at her daughter "there are also others who would go to work..." she then added " aren't you cold?"

Mia was wearing a sweater and blue jean shorts that stopped right above her knee. Though the upper part of her body was covered by the sweater,it was different when it came to the lower part and consisted of her exposed legs. The rain fell long and heavy enough to leave behind a cold atmosphere that made one want to protect themselves from it.

"no I'm not" replied mia. She continues to lay comfortable with her head placed on her mum's legs whose hand was on her head and it brought comfort.

"are you sure?" the concern in her voice was evident and she didn't want mia coming down with a cold. Mia didn't want her mum getting worried ,she replied "all the windows are closed,no cold air is coming in and the house is warm enough so I'm fine".

After a short while of silence between the two"mum?" mia called to get her mother's attention that was soon to fall on her daughter as she waited to hear what mia wanted to say.

"about what I told you earlier,are you alright with it?" mia stared as if to scan her mum's expression.

lily sighed " I didn't know how many times I have to say this ,I'm fine with it you don't have to worry"

"I'm just not okay with leaving you all by yourself, what if there's something you need"

As much as mia was willing to move back to stay with Ryan,she didn't want to leave her mum alone, Internally she knew the woman was capable of taking care of herself but she wanted to make sure she was alright.

"if you are worried about me being bored then know this,I won't be staying home constantly,there are lot of things that I missed and I would like to experience them again,it's been so long" she said thoughtfully then looked at her daughter,her expression serious "I'll be alright you still have your while life ahead of you and I'm not going to stop you especially when I know you are happy" the woman reasoned.

Mia thought of what her mother said and she knew the woman was right. Her mother wasn't one who liked to stay home for a long time and somewhere mia wondered how she kept her attention on her when she was much younger. The girl wrapped her hand around her mother who hugged her back,a wide smile spread across her lips as she whispered "thank you"

Seconds and minutes of the morning continued to go by with the clock serving as a reminder to the people about the time. People walked back and forth on the road, others came out of their houses either to go to work or to run some errands and prepare for the day as none knew what to expect of it and some continued to stay under the comfort of their beds and blankets.

Mia was working in the kitchen when she heard the doorbell ring,her mum had gone up to her room. Mia rinsed her hand under the tap before cleaning it with a dry towel,she stepped out of the kitchen to open the door. Standing at the other side was Ryan whom mia was not expecting. Once he came in and she closed the door behind her ,she said "you didn't tell me you were going to come",mia stared at him, finding home more handsome than ever.

Ryan didn't reply to her words but instead,his eyes were trained on her body and that didn't go unnoticed by mia who opened her mouth to speak when Ryan said "your legs must be cold" this had mia confused and she shook her head"it not cold" her eyes moved to look at her legs when she heard Ryan's voice that sounded irritated.

"you shouldn't dress like this..." the length of the sweater mia wore was up to the short she was wearing with it's hem resting on her thigh. The weather wasn't what bothered Ryan,her exposed legs was what irked him. He pulled her by her waist where there was little to no distance between their bodies

""what if it was some other man that was on the door that saw you like this?" he wasn't a okay with the thought of anyone else seeing her full legs like this,it made his jaw clench.He couldn't deny how smooth they looked and somehow it stirred up his thoughts making him curse st himself.

Mia finally understood what he meant and she smiled "luckily it wasn't some other man" it wasn't how she dressed but the thought of someone else's eyes falling on her,she was beautiful and no one could deny that fact. Mia didn't know if this was Ryan's way of telling her she was his and his alone

She raised her hand to place it on his shoulder when Ryan caught it with his hand. He scanned the bandage tied around her wrist and asked "how did you get injured?' he Inquired before he looked at mia who replied with "it's just a little accident ".

Ryan didn't take her words for it, although she said it ,he wanted to hear how it happened. He wasn't going to take anything lightly when it came to her.

"it might seem like a little accident to you but not me so tell me how you got this injury " he urged her while his other hand that was on her waist moved away

mia sighed"a car almost hit me..." she paused

"and?..." Ryan urged her to continue he continued to hold her soft hand in his while he used his thumb to gentle massage her fingers.

"I fell and got injured by glass on the side of the road "mia breath out"but I'm alright,I got it treated "she moved her hand in front of him to see she had wrapped the wound with a bandage.

"you were just walking by the side of the road " he murmured,he didn't find this normal or to be just a coincidence.

At that moment,the couple heard approaching footsteps and mia turned in time to see her mum who had almost reached the foot of the stairs. The woman smiled when she saw Ryan who smiled back at her as he gave a small bow. Mia looked at Ryan who wore an expression that she wasn't sure she had seen on his face until now.

Later ,the trio sat at the dining table with the table already set and the food ready.
