7 I PROMISE TO ALWAYS MAKE YOU HAPPY

"Please have a seat." Princess Fen finally said.

"Thank you, my princess." Prince Gen responded.

The room was silent for some minutes.

"Princess Fen I've heard a lot about you even though we haven't met before. so I decided to meet you before our wedding day. I know I may look like a stranger to you but believe me I'll take care of you like a real princess. You'll be the queen of my own Kingdom and I promise to take good care of you." Prince Gen finally broke the silence.

Princess Fen couldn't utter a word. She just sat down on the bed staring at the young handsome man sitting in front of her. He was too handsome for any woman to date, but she was not ready to be married.

Though princess Fen began developing feelings for prince Gen but her mind wasn't allowing her to express her feelings. It became a battle she needed to fight in her mind to know the right direction to take. She either agrees to marry him or stays back in her father's house.

Will he really treat her like a princess or as a slave?

She has seen how her mother was always controlled by her father. Princess Fen was not convinced in her mind that prince Gen would keep his promise or he was just saying it, just to win her heart.

Princess Fen was confused. She sighed in relief and said, "may I ask you a question?" "Yes, go on," Prince Gen answered.

"Do you have mistresses?" Princess Fen asked, and prince Gen chuckled.

"No, I don't. Any problem?" Prince Gen asked.

"No. Forget it." Princess Fen answered as she adjusted her gown.

"Then, why were you asking?" Prince Gen asked her, looking confused.

"Nothing." She answered, staring at the room Wall.

"But are you aware that I'm being forced to marry you?" Princess Fen asked.

"How?

Were you not told before informing us?" Prince Gen asked as he stared at her.

"No. I wasn't. They want to take me out of my comfort zone. I don't have the intention to get married but my father is just forcing it on me and I don't know why. To be sincere, I'm not ready to marry and I don't know when I'll be ready to marry as long as a man is involved. Do you know why? Princess Fen asked him.

"No." Prince Gen answered.

"Because men are not the kind of people I'm used to." Princess Fen explained.

"Why? Is it because you don't have a brother?" Prince Gen asked.

"No. This is how I was trained."

Princess Fen asked.

"Please, I'm in the dark. What do you mean by, this is how you were trained." Prince Gen responded with a low tone.

"Because this is how my father brought me up since childhood." Princess Fen answered.

"Oh, I see. But you know that you won't stay like this till you leave this earth. One day, you must be married to a man. And if you must be married to a man, why not make me that man? Who knows if this is the day. Please give me the chance to make you happy. I want to take you from that mentality of caring about women more than men." Prince Gen said.

"I don't want to leave the type of life I am living now. I like my life the way it is. It has entered my blood and is running through my veins. No man can take me out of it. All I ask of everyone is to let me be the way I am. I like my life the way it is.

Can you please tell the king that you're not interested in the wedding?" Princess Fen responded and also asked.

"My princess, no. You can't do this to me. I love you and I can prove it. I love you with all my heart and it's not because your father wants you to marry me that's why but to be sincere, deep inside me, I love you. And I know that you can equally love me back. I promise to take good care of you. Give me the chance to prove it. You are from a royal family and I'm also from a royal family. I believe you won't like to marry a commoner when you are finally ready for marriage. Try to maintain this royal life so that you will always be happy and I promise you, I'll make it up to you that I will always keep you happy all day of your life. Please accept my love so that we can get married. Our marriage is just two days away. Please don't change your mind." Prince Gen pleaded.

"Why are you pleading?

The plain truth is, you're pleading won't change my mind. A human being can't just wake up one day to tell you that 'this is the life I want you to live when you are living a different style of life. If you were me, what would you do?" Princess Fen asked prince Gen and he sat confused.

Prince Gen thought for a moment and the room was silent for some minutes.

"My lord, I know you are too handsome for any woman to deny you her love, but believe me it's not that I can't love you, but they can't just change my life without my consent. I have to plan for this and I'm sorry for disappointing you. There are many women out there in different kingdoms who are ready to marry you. Many beautiful princesses are more beautiful than I do. I do not doubt that they will love you wholeheartedly. Why bother yourself?" Princess Fen explained.

"My princess, I am not after beauty. I only need you and not another kingdom's princess. You seem not to understand, I'm not only marrying you because I only love you. This marriage is also an agreement between the Neville kingdom and the Decresh Kingdom which was arranged by our Fathers, your father, and mine. This is a peaceful agreement that was made a few months ago." Prince Gen bitterly explained to princess Fen.

"What do you mean by a peaceful agreement?" Princess Fen.

"Did you mean, king Dingbang, your father didn't explain anything to you?" Prince Gen asked, looking surprised.

"No. My father didn't explain anything to me. He only told me I was going to be married to you and that's all. Nobody has told me any reason for being forced into the marriage." Princess Fen said as she was trying to recall if her father ever told her anything about any agreement but she couldn't recall anything.

"No wonder you are still in the dark. The truth is, Neville and Decresh Kingdoms were once enemies. My father and your father, King Dingbang, had an agreement. I believe, even though you don't go to war, I guess you know that your warriors, including your father, usually go to war and your father happens to be the most powerful King around this territory, but something tragic happened which led to this agreement and I don't think I'm in the best position to tell you that. Your father needs to tell you that so that you'll be able to understand why you have been asked to marry." Prince Gen explained to her.

Princess Fen sat speechlessly. She was wondering what the agreement was all about and why her father decided to use her to make an agreement for her to marry. And another thing that surprises her the most is, why must he make an agreement over her, and even if he made the agreement, why didn't he ask for her consent before making the agreement?

Prince Gen was just wondering what was happening. He was also confused and surprised that the princess didn't even know why they were asking her to marry him. Prince Gen began to think that there was something that the two Kings were hiding from them but what could that be?

That's what they don't know but prince Gen already has a clue of what brought the agreement but he doesn't have full details of what transpired between the two Kings and he needs to ask his father for clarification.

Prince Gen furrowed his brows.

"I'm sorry my princess that your father didn't tell you all this thing but please promise me that you will marry me and I promise you that everything will be settled. You don't have to be worried, I have everything under control and I promise to make everything okay. Just agree to marry me and I'll do everything you want." Prince Gen said, but unknowingly to him princess Fen was already sobbing in tears When Prince Gen noticed the tears in her eyes, he stood from his seat and took some steps to where she was sitting and sat beside her. Prince Gen asked Princess Fen.

"Why are you crying?

You're not supposed to be crying like this. This is just a marriage, they are not giving out to animals nor are they taking you to the ghost. I'm a human being like you and I promise you I'll keep you happy all the days of your life.

Please stop crying." Prince Gen pleaded and cleaned her tears. He cuddled her as he took her into his arms. Princess Fen felt the warmth and she was already taken away by her feelings. She felt like sleeping in his arms like the way she always does to Shu but she does not feel like marrying him, but why is she feeling secure in his arms?

After some minutes of cuddling, princess Fen freed herself from prince Gen and told him to go away from her presence. Prince Gen was trying to comfort her but no, she was not in the mood to talk to him.

She asks him to go away. Prince Gen left for the King's court. When he got to the king's court, he met king Wanglei, his father, and king Dingbang discussing and laughing. When they saw him, they abruptly stopped.

"Oh, my prince, you're here." King Dingbang asked.

"Yes, your majesty," he answered with a frown.

"Father, we need to be going." Prince Gen said to his father.

"But why?" His father asked.

"It's time for us to go back." Prince Gen replied.

"I hope there's no problem," King Dingbang spoke.

"No." Prince Gen answered but his face was having a sign that something was wrong somewhere.

*Alright, if you said so, then no problem." His father answered.

They left the kingdom while the day was still bright.
