30 THE BREAKFAST

Princess Fen came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her. She has used a hairpin to hold her long hair, to avoid it touching the water.

"What's it that you want us to discuss?" Shu asked with a chuckle.

"Yeah, just give me a few seconds." Princess Fen responded and walked up to the mirror stand and sat in front of it.

She turned the chair, to face Shu.

"Please, I need nothing, but the truth." Princess Fen said with a serious tone.

"Alright, anything for you, My Ai," Shu responded with a faded smile.

"Okay. How did I get into this room last night?" Princess Fen found herself driven to inquire, with a sense of reasoning, if Shu is aware of it, herself.

Their eyes locked for a second, before Shu responded to her, "Why are you asking?"

"Why won't I? The only thing I remember is when I was in the hall. Subsequently, I can't tell what happened next." Princess Fen gasped and replied.

"Honestly?" Shu snorted.

"Yes, of course. Why are you making me feel like I don't know what I'm talking about?" Princess Fen almost raises her voice at Shu.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel bad. Anyway, I will say it wasn't your fault that you fell asleep during the party. It was because of the tiredness in you." Shu explained.

"You mean, I slept off during the party?" Princess Fen asked, surprised.

"Of course, yes. Is there anything wrong with that?" Shu asked as she rolled her eyeball.

"But…" princess Fen wanted to say a statement, but Shu cut in.

"Aren't you ready to hear what happened yesterday?" Shu asked with a smirk.

"So sorry about that." Princess Fen apologized, but Shu didn't reply, instead, she narrated everything that happened the previous night.

"Was that all that happened?" Princess Fen asked, looking unsatisfied.

"Probably, yes," Shu answered.

"Then who took off my gown, if you were not the one?" Princess Fen asked with a worried look on her face.

"Hey, cheer up. Why are they looking so angry?" Shu softly replied with a smile on her face.

"Shu, tell me that you were the one who took off my gown." Princess Fen said with anxiety.

"I won't lie to you. If I were the one, I would have let you know. Not arguing with you." Shu responded.

"Then, who removed it?" Princess Fen asked once more. Shu felt oppressed, and she decided to answer, even though she wasn't sure who took off the gown.

"That should be your husband. Why are you asking questions as if it were three people who slept here with you?" Shu responded as she frowned.

"Does that mean he saw my nakedness?"

Ignoring Shu's look, Princess Fen goes on with her questions.

"Hmm," Shu sighs and lets out a gasp.

"Was that supposed to be a surprise?" Shu asked with a low gaze on the princess.

"Of course. Why won't it be? Why will he see my nakedness, when we just got married?" Princess Fen murmured.

"How is that a problem, huh? Isn't he yours forever? Why hide your nakedness from him?" Shu said.

"And who said I would have allowed him to undress me if I knew?" Princess sharply responded.

"Why are you speaking so strange? Are you sure you are okay?" Shu sarcastically asked.

"Why won't I be? Did I complain about anything? I'm always fine." Princess Fen was beginning to be serious about the whole thing.

Shu thought from the beginning that the princess was only asking her out of play from the beginning. Not knowing that she was all serious. Shu was speechless and dumbfounded. The room went silent as Shu stared at princess Fen.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Princess Fen finally broke the silence.

"Nothing. I'm just wondering if…" before Shu could finish her statement, Prince Gen dashed into the room.

Shu quickly stood up from her chair with fear.

"Your Highness, I was about to come and inform you about the breakfast." Shu lied as she stood in awe, keeping her gaze on the floor. She was scared that the prince stood outside listening to their conversation.

Although she wasn't at fault, she wouldn't want anything that will implicate the princess, which might lead to something else.

Princess Fen, who was speaking with confidence earlier, maintained herself when prince Gen came into the room.

Prince Gen could see the fear in them, and he could tell that they were doing or discussing something abominable.

"No problem. You can go now." Prince Gen responded to Shu.

"Thank you, Your Highness." Shu appreciated and bowed. Without hesitation, she rushed out of the room.

Princess Fen stood up and turned her chair around to face the mirror to avoid eye contact with prince Gen.

Shockingly, prince Gen walked up to her and stood behind her.

"Good morning, My Lady." Prince Gen greeted. Princess Fen felt like the earth should open and swallow her up.

She feared this man called her husband.

She gathered all the courage she could accumulate and responded, "good morning…. My Lord…" the statement came out of her mouth as if it mistakenly escaped from her mouth.

"I hope you had a wonderful night?" Prince Gen asked. But this time, he bent down and kissed her cheek before rising.

This made her blood run faster than it should in her veins.

Princess Fen was having a restless mind. If only he knew that she wasn't happy with what he was doing, he would stop before she could even utter a word.

"It was spectacular… My… Lord." She stuttered as if she were being forced to. To be real about it, she felt like someone was forcing her to reply to everything he said to her.

On knowing this nerve she gathered to reply to him, prince Gen abstained from her and headed to the table where their breakfast was set.

"I will be expecting you at the dining table." Prince Gen said to her, and she answered at the top of her voice, "alright…"

Prince Gen sat on one of the dining chairs as he opened the plates that were filled with varieties of food. On one side of the table, were jugs of juice and water. Without any delay, prince Gen went straight to business. He was devouring the food without minding what princess Fen might say about his eating habits.

Princess Fen used this opportunity in doing her makeup. Even though she was meant to finish within minutes, she decided to spend ages dressing in the mirror.

"Wasn't your handmaid supposed to do that for you?" Prince Gen finally asked when he couldn't endure seeing her suffering herself.

"You are eating your breakfast. It won't be right if a maiden is in the room while you are eating." Princess Fen brought an unnecessary excuse.

"But I didn't say it wasn't a problem." Prince Gen responded.

"Don't bother yourself, My Lord. I'm almost done." Princess Fen assured him.

"If you say so, then so be it." Prince Gen gives in to her excuse. He wanted to avoid arguing with her so that she wouldn't feel sad.

"Thank you, My Lord." Princess Fen appreciated it.

"My pleasure." Prince Gen replied with a smile.

Princess Fen has developed the nerve to reply to him without fear.

Prince Gen was done eating. He then went into the bathroom to take his bath. On seeing this, princess Fen asked, "haven't you taken your bath?"

"I haven't," was Prince Gen's response as he stepped into the bathroom. He banged the door behind.

Princess Fen sat in surprise. Wondering why he went out as early as possible, without taking his bath. When she was sure that the prince was bathing, she quickly rushed into the dressing room and changed her clothes.

Thereafter, she went to the diner and ate her breakfast.

She was so hungry and a bit tired, but shyness took the best of her, which never allowed her to show it up.
