Why Is he here!?

The training room hummed with energy as the sound of clashing swords filled the air. Adrian and Lucas were locked in an intense duel, their blades dancing as they tested their growing skills against each other. Both had come a long way in their training as aura knights, each determined to push the other to the limit.

"Impressive, Lucas! You've gotten so much better!" Adrian shouted over the ringing of their blades.

"You too!" Lucas grinned, sweat dripping down his face as he swung with renewed vigor.

Their swords clashed with a final, resounding impact, and both combatants stepped back, catching their breath. The tension hung in the air as they sized each other up for the final round, the energy between them crackling with anticipation.

"Let's finish this!" Adrian declared, his aura flaring as he steadied his sword.

"Bring it on!" Lucas replied, equally determined, his own aura pulsing in response.

With a synchronized burst of energy, both fighters surged forward. Their swords met in a flurry of strikes, but within moments, Adrian's superior strength and technique overwhelmed Lucas. His sword was knocked from his grip, and in one swift movement, Adrian's blade rested at Lucas's throat.

"I win!" Adrian declared with a triumphant grin, his chest rising and falling with exertion.

"No way!" Lucas groaned, shaking his head in defeat. "Looks like dinner's on me tonight." He sighed, recalling their playful wager from the day before.

The two shared a hearty laugh, the rivalry between them only strengthening their bond. After their spirited match, they sheathed their swords and made their way to the showers. A well-earned meal awaited them as the perfect capstone to their rigorous training session.

Later that evening, the bustling streets of Arvendale greeted them with warmth and life. The city was alive with activity—people filled the streets, stalls were set up along the sidewalks, and the sounds of lively conversation floated in the air. The smell of freshly cooked food beckoned to them from every corner.

"This place is amazing," Lucas marveled as they weaved through the crowded streets. "So many options, but I've heard this one restaurant is the best in town."

The smell of succulent dishes drew them toward their destination. As they entered the restaurant, they were greeted by the tantalizing aroma of savory meats and spices, making their mouths water in anticipation.

"This smells great!" Lucas nudged Adrian with excitement. "Let's get inside and dig in!"

A short while after ordering, their waitress arrived, balancing two trays of steaming food with practiced ease. "Here you go, sirs," she said, setting down their dishes with a polite smile before bowing and hurrying off to tend to other patrons.

As Adrian took his first bite, an explosion of flavors overwhelmed his senses. "Incredible!" he exclaimed, savoring every mouthful. Lucas nodded in agreement, just as lost in the delicious food. They exchanged glances of pure satisfaction, knowing they had chosen well.

After polishing off their meal, they took a moment to let their stomachs settle. The conversation turned to the topic that had been on their minds since their last battle.

"We should figure out our innate abilities and elemental affinities," Lucas suggested. "Now that we're official Aura Knights of the Empire, it's time we unlock our potential."

Adrian nodded, his mind drifting back to the Crown Prince's display of power on the battlefield. "Yeah, we need to be ready to fight like him."

"There's only one place to do that—the Tower of Mages," Lucas said, a gleam of excitement in his eyes. "If we could get Princess Fiona to help us, we might avoid all the red tape."

Adrian smirked at the suggestion. "I like the sound of that. Let's make it happen."

With their next mission in mind, the two finished their conversation and went their separate ways to rest and prepare for the journey ahead.

The next morning, Adrian entered the barracks to find a buzz of activity. His fellow knights were abuzz with both excitement and concern, their conversations filling the air with a mix of anticipation and dread.

As Adrian moved through the crowd, he caught snippets of their conversations.

"I heard Baron Durk is coming to town," one knight whispered.

"If he likes what he sees, we might get some kind of reward," another replied.

"Not me," a third said, shaking his head. "I'm outta here before anything happens."

The mention of Baron Durk's name sent a chill down Adrian's spine. He remembered all too well the brutal encounter with the Baron's son, Terrance. The thought of facing Baron Durk himself filled Adrian with unease. The Baron was a powerful and feared man—stronger even than Captain Mohan.

Adrian's pulse quickened as he searched for Lucas, desperate to find his friend before Baron Durk arrived. He feared the worst, his mind racing with possibilities of what the Baron might do in retaliation for his son's disappearance.

Finally, Adrian spotted Lucas at the far end of the barracks, standing among a group of knights, including Rowan and… Baron Leonard Durk. The Baron stood tall and imposing, his sharp green eyes surveying the young knights with cold precision.

"There he is, Baron Durk—my best friend," Lucas announced with a smile, unaware of the tension mounting around them.

The Baron's gaze landed on Adrian, and a faint smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. "Ah, the brave rookie who made quite the impression on the battlefield," Durk said, his voice smooth but laced with something far more dangerous.

Adrian swallowed hard, fighting to keep his composure. "You're too kind, Baron Durk," he replied, trying to mask the anxiety tightening his chest.

The Baron's eyes narrowed as he turned to Rowan. "Could I spar with this young man? I'd like to see what he's truly capable of."

Rowan raised an eyebrow, then glanced at Adrian. "What do you say, Adrian?"

Adrian knew this was more than a sparring match. It was a test—a test he couldn't afford to lose. Nodding resolutely, he replied, "I accept."

"Excellent," Baron Durk said, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Let's head to the courtyard."

As they walked toward the courtyard, Adrian couldn't shake the feeling that this was more than just a simple spar. The Baron wanted to humiliate him in front of the entire barracks. He could feel it in the coldness of the Baron's smile.

Inwardly, Adrian prayed for strength. He had faced difficult challenges before, but none like this. The Baron was renowned as one of the most skilled and ruthless fighters in the Empire.

With each step toward the courtyard, Adrian steeled himself for what was to come. His heart pounded in his chest, but he knew he couldn't back down now. Not in front of his comrades. Not in front of Lucas.

As they prepared to square off in the courtyard, Adrian's only hope was that someone, or something, would intervene before it was too late.
