Life is full of luck, like getting dealt a good hand or simply by being in the right place at the right time. Some people get luck handed to them, a second chance, a save. It can happen heroically, or by a simple coincidence. But some don't get luck handed to them on a shiny platter, who end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, who don't get saved.
And if it doesn't happen for or to you, you don't have to stop believing. Who knows, maybe like Leo, our good luck is almost knocking at the door. Our second chance will come albeit late.
Leo considered himself lucky to have met Dylan because after everything that happened four years ago, he had thought that things would just go downhill from there.
But here he was. A homeowner, had himself a great boyfriend, the love of family and in the University. He couldnt ask for more. He was happy.
They arrived at their house, where his mom was and they walked in. Mother Adams was so happy to see them that she almost sprang to her legs so as to hug her son but she still couldn't. She had made a lot of progress but she still couldn't walk but the doctors had promised her that with the way medicine had advanced, her spine might be saved and she might walk again and sooner than they all thought.
"Leo, son, I missed you.You haven't been home for two days now. Don't you care about this old lady anymore?" She jokingly said as she held her hands out for a hug.
Leo hugged her as he laughed, "| know this old lady is capable of taking care of herself even without me around. I missed you too mama," he said as he stood up.
"Dylan, son, come and hug auntie. How have you been?" She asked as she hugged him too.
"I'm well auntie. Happy to see you doing better," he said with a sincere smile.
"Thanks you. I'm well and I thank God that my
son is able to pay for all the doctors but I usually tell him that it's a waste of time and money. I'm okay just seeing my boys do well even if I cann't walk. At least I will be proud to tell their father that our babies are well and successful. Also, I still got a mouth to nag them," she finished with a laugh and they all laughed at her antics.
"We already talked about this Ma. No talking of death and you are going to get well," Leo said as he knelt before his mother and took her small hands in his.
She looked at him fondly and pinched his cheek lovingly.
"I have good news for you mama. We are moving. With the help of Dylan here, I was able to get a better place for us. And, it is ready. It's just waiting for you to start living there," he said as he looked at his mom joyfully.
"Where is it? Can we go now? Though I will miss this place. I've got so used to it and the neighbors are nice," she said but the eagerness to see their new place was evident on her face.
Leo and Dylan helped mama Adams to board the vehicle and Dylan told them not to worry because someone will pack their things and bring them to the new house.
They started their journey but passed through a restaurant to eat because they had both walked a lot and they were hungry. Mama was happy because it had been long since she was in a hotel.
When they arrived at their new home, Leo was surprised to find their things from the old house already there and in place. He looked at Dylan and was impressed by his efficiency.
The first thing they did was introduce
mama Adams to all the workers and Leo reminded them that she was the boss and whatever she says, goes.
After the introductions it was time to give mama a tour of the house. Leo insisted that she would see the grounds the following day after she rests.
Their mother was out of words. She cried as she toured the house because it all looked surreal. "I never thought that we would live in this kind of a house again. I thought...." she couldn't continue as the tears chocked her and Leo knelt before her and hugged her
while Dylan held her shoulders. He had been the one who had been pushing the wheelchair.
'I can now die in peace. I now know my boys are in good hands,' Mama Adams thought as she looked up at Dylan.
She caressed his cheeks with a smile and didn't say anything as she turned to look at her son with a knowing smile. They might have thought that she was old and didn't know these things but she wasn't a fool. Also, since she got sick, the only thing she could do was watch browse the net and watch web series. And of lay, yaoi series had become her favourite.
She smiled as she thought that life had dealt her a good hand after all the pain.
