MIRROR

Hira was passing a mosque when the Maghrib (dawn) prayer called. She stops by to take time to wash and pray—at an extensive and lovely mosque on the side of the highway. It feels at home staying inside, only some female worshipers are seen during the evening prayer.

While waiting for prayer time, she remembered her meeting with Billy and Julia's whereabouts. It's been a long time; never the slightest of that name has disappeared from memory.

Suddenly she widened her eyes as if a light flashed illuminating the dark room in her mind.

Isn't the pair of humans present in her real life also reflecting her inner world? Billy and Julia's figures are MIRROR. Perfect images of the relationship between her to her soul. What is outside is a reflection or reflection of what is inside us.

Inside Hira, there is Julia, who is not beautiful, not attractive, nothing special, ordinary. That she feels about herself; she never respected herself, valued herself, and never loved herself enough. Her soul was torn apart. As long as she doesn't accept herself fully, and love herself unconditionally, anyone who comes into her life will be distant. The gap between her and her lover is the gap between her and her soul.

Billy, her soul twin, comes into her life to awaken her. If nothing significant, there wouldn't be a change. Billy comes into Hira's life to shake her consciousness that she is worthy and precious as Billy. Hira found the perfect mirror of how she was supposed to be from the man.

After the prayer, a display case containing books beside the pulpit caught her attention.

She approached the window and looked around, tilted her head as she strolled along with the titles of the books. Almost all were books of religion, commentary, history, and the holly book neatly lined up.

Hira took one of the Qur'ans and brought it to the Akhwat (sisters) area. Slowly she opened the book. But strangely, from front to back, right and left, she flipped through the book like something was wrong.

She replayed it from the front like she was reading an ordinary book; she found the first letter. No, it's not the Qur'an that's wrong, but the printing. It feels strange to read the Holly book like reading an ordinary book.

Hira did not continue her reading. This layout annoys her. It is so uncomfortable to read Al-Quran like reading an ordinary book. In Sundanese, there is the term 'Ngewa.' She turned the pages of the Quran again, looking for the publisher. She will call to report the faulty layout if necessary.

There was not a single mosque administrator whom she met nor a single contact in the Qur'an. Hira looked at the Qur'an lying in front of her as if shivering from the cold.

But suddenly, she realized. It's like being slapped hard.

Of the many Qur'ans that lined up on the bookshelf, why did she take the wrong-printed Qur'an? Is it the publisher's fault? Maybe. But why did she have to take that Qur'an instead of the others? Meanwhile, dozens of Qur'ans were lined up neatly along with the display case.

Hira suddenly felt sad. Seeing the 'defective' Quran in front of her was very sad. The defective Qur'an is also like a mirror for her spiritual world. All this time, her life was flawed walking the path because she ignored what the holy book taught as a believer.

She had never heard of it, even though she regularly reads it. She never really understand the messages. Time is running out to look for things not taught in the holy book. She prefers to listen to prophecies to solve life problems rather than use this book as a reference. Search and keep looking even though everything is there.

What is the use of the Qur'an her holy book but never considers as guidance?
