Almost Trapped

"I must go back to the portal... and escape... if... if I, at least, can still recollect the path to it." Declared he, as he stood, looking brave - he spoke with motivation and pride.

Sonn, at last, observed the surrounding terrain. He tried in earnest to remember every single detail of the path they had taken as they were exploring.

From the remnant, he tried to walk seriously as he seemed so desperate - mad, starving, tired, and worried. For he was dealing with his own frenzy, starvation, fatigue, and distress.

As he had decided, he went walking until he went by the plains again, where he and Simoun rested and talked. It was not distant nor was it near. In reality, it took them roughly an hour to be at the remnant. Now, he saw where they were seated, talked; where they ate; and even passed by some food residue they had left. He felt so worried of what would become of his brother - but he was still focused on his path. So much that he was worried of what would become of himself - and so the most he was worried of what would become of Jane, the zombified lady who ate her husband.

Even so he was in preoccupation, Sonn did not take any resounding and dramatic moment while in recollection. He keenly observed every detail and tried to remember anything that, for him, was a clue. And he eventually progressed back from the Basalt Deltas where many Magma Cubes roam. Sonn had in succession, recognizing the place and seeing back the cream of the Magma Cube that they had slain even. He was so exasperated, and bothering him was his worry about his brother.

From that deltas, Sonn did trace and completed the puzzle - he saw the warped forest biome and there he knew where he was. Many endermen still were roaming as if they were reigning around and across by the land. Sonn tried in whole decent actions to avoid eye contact between him and the tall monsters. They were peculiar.

Sonn could not avoid feeling sorry and being invited by guilt for not even trying to look for his brother, at last, - But if he did, he had been slain already.

He went around the warped forest biome bearing his hunger and dread, persevering despite the despair he was feeling. He was out and, from there, he was standing on a stiff plain - For below was a coast beside a magma lake.

"I clearly remember this coast." He said to himself, walking to it. He was in haste for many ghast started to appear, ran beside the magma lake and up the cliff where their portal stood in proximity. It was there - their portal! Many ghasts appeared, floating in the hot atmosphere, and started shooting the flaming rocks! Sonn ran in immediate and did not dare to consult the surrounding - even the chaos was ignored. He was scared and heroically ran through the portal when a ghast had the potential - it shot the portal line, breaking the link between the nether and overworld. The portal line broke and Sonn was startled for he was unable to get out. He was stuck forever unless he had something to ignite the portal back.

The portal was lifeless and soon could Sonn be.

Recognizing the terrifying fact, Sonn preceded the scene and rushed to the hole, thinking of nothing but food, escape, and his brother Simoun - For he could be left forever and eventually die... or did he die?

Such questions left Sonn in a moment of scare, rested unsettled at the hole where he could eye the view where the portal stood. From the hole, too, was observable many pigmen roaming to and fro. He had no hope, left for he was strongly trapped.

* * *

Hours had passed and nothing changed - for worry does nothing, obviously... And worry makes you do nothing, truly.

Sonn did not wait for his brother, nor did he thought of going back for him. He was settled in awful condition, waiting for his death. The big matter came to his sentiments, whether he must wait for his death... or he must serve himself death. He stood, walked back and forth, baffled by his condition and existing in nothingness. Sonn peeked through the cave and saw the rectangular obsidian portal standing on the cliff, hopeless. It was not ignited. He walked towards it and observed it in serious attentiveness when abruptly ghast blasted a fireball. Sonn managed to dodge - he stumbled beside the portal. The fire from the impact had hit with extent, making the flame develop and lay out on the ground. Which circumstance ignited the portal, making it work again! The portal was ignited, and it was accessible, at last!

Sonn was startled and hushed heedlessly to the portal. He slipped through it and finally escaped the devilish dimension and went out to the overworld. There at the laboratory, he escaped through, seeing not dark but an active atmosphere. Someone was in operation on the table at the laboratory, and to Sonn's tremendous astonishment - Simoun was there.

"S-Sonn!" Simoun stood, living his work aside and rushed to Sonn to embrace him. Sonn was in silence and expressionless. He was not uttering any word nor his face says the matter as his brother embrace him.

"How did you escape?" Simoun asked in weary and in panic, trying to analyze Sonn's face.

"You left me." Sonn suddenly said. His cute voice was present, but it was not a voice of enthusiasm - for it was rather a voice of depression, trying to escape in dread. "Did not you, Brother?"

"I tried to go back... But-"

"But what?!" He cried, bursting furiously.

"But I failed to." Simoun responded with hesitation. His chest was wounded and covered with bandages - the blood was evident. Sonn, at first, did not happen to notice, for he was under profound sentiments, having no time to peruse his brother's bodily composition.

"Your cowardice failed to do it."

"Look!" Simoun cried, pointing to his mutilated chest, "I almost died!"

Sonn looked at it in regret, dejecting himself inwardly. He touched the wound and observed it in earnest.

"I am sorry." He said, at last. Simoun embraced him again and tears started to flow. Their exhausted faces told it all - they failed.

It was undeniable that they failed... they failed the company, and they failed the original intent - they failed for now.
