Play the Hero

"What do you wanna do for your birthday tomorrow?" Cindy asked Eren as the two of them held hands while skating on the ice beneath the beautiful moonlight.

"I don't know, honestly I'd rather do something small like dinner or something. My social battery is kinda drained right now." As Eren said this, Harry Osborn skated toward the two of them with Lily's hand in his. He had a panicked look on his face as he called to his friends.

"Eren! Cindy!"

"My dad! He- He just killed all of the employees at ABC. Every single one of them." As these words left Harry's mouth, the sound of police sirens began to slowly grow louder. A car full of Riker's psychopaths was being chased by officers, both the thugs and the police were firing their weapons at each other with the intent to kill.

One of the Rikers thugs landed a lucky shot, causing a police car to explode, starting a chain reaction of multiple cop cars blowing up in the street. The four teens looked at the explosions in awe, as one of the exploded vehicles began to roll at them at a speed where they could barely even process what was happening. Without thinking, Eren grabbed all of his friends before sprinting across the city. Eventually, they ended up at the Osborn residence inside their renovated Spider-Cave.

Harry, Eren, Cindy, and now Lily stood inside their hidden cave beneath the Osborn residence, all shaken up due to how suddenly everything turned around.

"Oh. My. God." Lily's voice and body began shaking with fear, unable to comprehend what had just happened to her. She knew about Eren's powers, but he'd never used them around her, nor did he ever use them on her. She was horrified.

"Okay, Lily I know this is a shock but we're under Harry's house right now. This is our base and you're going to be safe here, okay?" After speaking to Lily, he looked over at Harry with a haunting expression. "Harry, where is he?"

"I don't- I can't-" Harry, due to his nerves getting to him combined with the severity of the situation and Eren's angry expression, couldn't let out the information plainly.

"Stop stuttering and say the words, Harry! We don't have time for this!"

"I don't know where he is now. He was at ABC five minutes ago. He left you a message." Harry showed him his phone. Both Lily and Cindy looked over his shoulder to watch the video with him.

"Spider-Man… This message is for yoooou! You were sooo afraid of being the monster! Yet, here you are letting the real monster walk free! See what happens when you play the hero? Lying to yourself that you've changed. Claiming you're better than us. The lie ends tonight! The blood of these people is on your hands! Once I've had my fun, you and your pretty little doll of a girlfriend will be next. I-"

Eren's shoulders dropped. His entire body language shifted upon seeing the broadcast. The Goblin was right. If Eren killed him, all of the people who died that night would have been saved. Instantly, regret, dread, self-doubt, self-hatred, and pretty much every negative emotion began to build up inside of Eren. His arms began to crackle with electricity, gaining the attention of everyone in the room.

"Let's go, Cindy." He walked out of the computer room and into the room where they keep their gear. Cindy could feel all of the negative emotions within him, overwriting all of her own due to the aggressiveness of it all as she followed him out of the room.

Once the two were geared up, Cindy grabbed onto Eren, but before leaving, Eren had one last thing to say to Harry. "We need that serum. It's now or never, Harry." Eren saying this to Harry put the weight of the world on his best friend's shoulders, but it was the push he needed. Harry nodded. "I understand."

Bursting out of the Spider-Cave, Spider-Man and Silk made their way toward the news station. Eventually, they found the Green Goblin in the middle of a street, standing over a charred corpse that was presumably caused by his hand.

Surrounding Norman was pure mayhem. Buildings were on fire and Rikers inmates were running the streets freely. Gunshots and screaming could be heard just as loud as their own thoughts. Damaged vehicles and dead bodies littered the streets. It was unadulterated chaos.

"Norman!" Spider-Man's voice was filled with anger, sending a chill down Silk's spine upon feeling the hatred behind it firsthand. Despite him wearing that red and blue costume of a hero, he might as well have been wearing that all-black costume from his past, as his past self was beginning to reveal himself once again.

"Norman's not here anymore… Parker." The demon laughed, almost causing the air around him to shake due to its force. Before acting off of impulse, Harry informed Spider-Man of what he was dealing with.

"Okay guys... I've seen footage and it looks like he can shoot fire now and his strength looks to be on par with the Hulk or something. It's insane. Please, please be careful." Harry watched a clip of the Goblin ripping a bus in half with his bare hands, horrifying the boy by showcasing such incalculable strength.

There was one thing that Cindy and Eren had practiced together during their training, a technique that Eren discovered when they were sparring by accident.

Spider-Man placed his hand on Cindy's shoulder, sending his energy into the Spider-Matter costume that he made for her after she damaged her old costume. Like a battery, Silk's costume had become filled with Godspeed energy, though that energy would come and go very quickly.

Just like Spider-Man, Silk had a blue aura around her body, putting herself in a Psuedo Ultimate Godspeed form. She didn't have the year of experience that Eren did, so she couldn't hold it for long, but she practiced enough to know she could hold it for about ten minutes.

She could feel the energy coursing through her, almost overwhelming her, but she could handle it. "Let's go!" she told her partner before the two of them dashed forward at the beast in front of them.

π˜‘π˜›π˜›!

Both spiders flashed over toward the Green Goblin, throwing a punch of their own at the monster from the front.

π˜½π™Šπ™Šπ™ˆ!

Both spiders created a shockwave due to the strength of their punches, sending the Green Goblin spiraling backward into an empty vehicle, destroying it into nothing more than scrap metal.

The Goblin was able to quickly get back up, however, the spiders were just as quick, dashing up to him like streaks of lightning before unleashing powerful strikes at his body. To anyone watching, the Green Goblin was being struck by a constant stream of blue energy, however, from Eren and Silk's perspectives, they were landing target strikes on the villain.

Eren, opting to use his fists, delivered plenty of powerful blows to the Green Goblin's face and body, causing him to stumble backward with each strike. Simultaneously, Silk was delivering high-speed kicks using what she'd learned in her taekwondo class.

Both spiders reeled backward, charging themselves with energy before simultaneously releasing their attacks. Spider-Man sent a haymaker to the Green Goblin's face while Silk delivered a might spartan kick to his chest.

π˜½π™Šπ™Šπ™ˆ!

Once again, their joint attack created a shockwave, sending the villain backward and crashing into a coffee shop.

The spiders dashed forward and Silk began firing her webs at the beast to lock him down to the ground. Meanwhile, Spider-Man lept in the air, shooting his webs on both sides of the Green Goblin before slingshotting himself downward, slamming both feet down onto the monster's face.

Suddenly, Spider-Man began firing off a barrage of full-powered punches at the monster's face, preparing to take him down once and for all.

π˜‘π˜›π˜›!

π˜½π™Šπ™Šπ™ˆ!

π˜‘π˜›π˜›!

π˜½π™Šπ™Šπ™ˆ!

π˜‘π˜›π˜›!

π˜½π™Šπ™Šπ™ˆ!

π˜‘π˜›π˜›!

π˜½π™Šπ™Šπ™ˆ!

π˜‘π˜›π˜›!

π˜½π™Šπ™Šπ™ˆ!

These punches were incredibly fast, but also, incredibly powerful. Creating shockwaves with each strike as Spider-Man could hear the Green Goblin's skull cracking with each punch, as well as the floor beneath him. However, the Green Goblin seemed to be enjoying this, smiling and laughing as Spider-Man continued his onslaught while creating a crater beneath the Goblin due to how much force he was using.

"HAHAHAHAHA! Is that all!? This is the Amazing Spider-Man's full strength!? Enough holding back. If this is all you heroes have to offer, how about I show you what my new body can really do!" As he spoke his body began to tremble, not due to the pain, but due to his body overflowing with his own power.

Silk and Spider-Man's eyes widened after this proclamation 'Holding back!?' They both thought to themselves. They were using everything they had to try and take the nightmare down, yet, he was acting as if they weren't doing anything but massaging him.

The Green Goblin continued to tremble, triggering both Silk's Silk-Sense and Spider-Man's Spider-Sense, warning them both to get the hell out of there. Both spiders lept backward out of the coffee shop, giving the monster some space before all the energy building up within him started to release.

π™’π™Šπ™Šπ™Šπ™Šπ™Žπ™ƒ!

His body exploded with bright, raging flames, sending the two spiders sliding backward even further due to the pressure being released from it. As the pressure ceased, the two spiders glanced up at their opponent, now transformed into even more of a monster.

The Green Goblin slowly stepped out of the coffee shop, laughing menacingly with each step.

He was covered in an almost golden flame aura, fundamentally contrasting Spider-Man's blue aura. He stood facing them with a disgusting grin on his face. As he exhaled, flames expelled from both his mouth and his nose. Intense steam, presumably evaporating the sweat coming off of his body, could be seen as it made its way up into the atmosphere "Let's kill each other right here! Although, I believe only two of us will be dying today!"

Without any hesitation, the two spiders dashed over to the Green Goblin and began repeating the same onslaught of attacks using their combined super speed. This time, however, the punches did absolutely nothing to the Goblin as this state either turned up his insanity, strength, or both. He laughed before enveloping his fists in his flaming energy as he punched both of the spiders away with ease as if they were literal bugs, knocking them into an empty restaurant behind them.

Both spiders were surprised and aching as they landed next to each other in the wreckage.

"How did he get so strong..." Silk groaned, lying on the ground next to her partner.

"I don't know..." Spider-Man muttered, getting back on his feet. "But I can still beat him."

Spider-Man, seeing a piece of metal on the ground, grabbed it and shrouded it with Godspeed energy before quickstepping out of the building toward the Green Goblin, stabbing him in the chest with it. The piece of metal dug deep inside the Goblin, yet, it seemingly did nothing to him as the metal rod began melting due to the Goblin's heat seeping from his body.

The Green Goblin grabbed Spider-Man by the wrist, and meanwhile, Silk busted out of the building, sending a full-powered kick to the Green Goblin's face. This kick did nothing to the monster but make him chuckle.

The Green Goblin then delivered an incredible punch to Silk in the chest, sending her flying in the opposite direction, coming to a rolling stop like a ragdoll up against a parked car.

Spider-Man couldn't believe his eyes, the Goblin was making short work of them as if they were toys. He attempted to punch the Goblin with another useless barrage of punches with his free hand, but the Goblin grabbed him by the face and started crushing his skull with a single hand. At this point, neither speed nor strength was good enough to face the monster.

The Green Goblin looked up at the sky and noticed a plane flying by. He then looks over at the One World Trade Building and smiled as a disgusting thought appeared in his brain.

"How about we repeat some history together, Parker!"
