Anathema - The Curse

The waterfall is beautiful.

The water of the fall drops from a great height. When it crashes into the surface, it creates a beautiful white foam. The afternoon sky casts a beautiful reflection on the surface and the calm that surrounds us here is mystical.

After eating fire-cooked fish last night, everyone rested to get up at the crack of dawn. When dawn broke, Uncle Harsh woke us up and fed us some fruits for breakfast.

We packed whatever food we could in the bags we had with us while Uncle Harsh strapped himself with weapons. He refused to give us any weapons saying that he didn't want us to hurt himself.

Thus began our long journey to the waterfall. I thought islands were supposed to be small but not this island. The soles of my feet are numb because of the long journey.

And now here we are, standing near this beautiful water with the same dirty clothes and stinking shoes as the day before yesterday. We probably have a stinky breath too, not that anyone will admit it.

"This is beautiful." Anya murmurs.

"It's straight out of fairytales." Grace says, in awe.

"I can't see a princess singing around here though." Luca says playfully and tries to search through the hand-formed binoculars.

Grace swats his back while the rest of us chuckle.

"Okay, Swastik, come with me. You guys stay here." Uncle Harsh commands.

I oblige and follow him while the others stand around, looking at the waterfall in wonder.

Uncle Harsh takes through a narrow opening between the mountain and the waterfall. As I pass through, the water wets half of my clothes.

When we reach inside, Uncle lights a lamp that he brought along in his bag. The light of the lamp illuminates the cold cave.

I gasp.

There is nothing here.
