Finally I walked through the door, it was as hot as hell. I didn't really find the Castle of Iris, I was in a desert. I have to cross the desert before getting to the Castle of Iris.
I must have forgotten how hellish it felt. I've been walking for ages, the sun isn't forgiven. I don't know how long I've been walking.
I'm hungry, I'm thirsty and I have no idea where I'm going. I walked for a while but I stopped 'cause I'm exhausted. I stood for a while, then I saw a river and there were trees. I am so thirsty that I didn't hesitate to approach it.
I dipped my hands in the river, I smiled at the thought of water. I placed my hands close to my mouth to drink but I was shocked to realize that it was a mirage. I immediately spat out sand. I can't believe I fell for the oldest trick in the book.
Why do I have to be so unlucky? How do I locate this stupid Castle? This place is as hot as hell, I wished there was a simple way to find Benjamin. I scratched my head in frustration. This is so messed up, I wish I had told Diamond, maybe she would have an easy way to this.
I tripped and fell to the ground, honestly I couldn't stand to my feet cause I'm exhausted. The air is dry, I'm tried, thirty and dizzy at the same time. I could feel my eyes slowly closing. Maybe I should have listened to Nari.
I slowly opened my eyes, I found myself in a tent. I sat up straight, I heard a woman humming a nice tune in front of me. "Who are you?" I asked. "You're awake.... I thought I lost you" She said with a smile. "You haven't answered my question. Who are you?" I asked again.
"Oh, my name Haniel" She said with a smile. I thought for a while. "Here" Haniel gave me a bottle of water. I didn't take it, I shouldn't accept things from a stranger. "Come on take it, you need it. Besides you've been walking under the heat for heaven knows how long" She said.
She has a point though, I'm freaking thirsty. I could drink an ocean if possible. I took the bottle from her and I drank the water like my life literally depended on it. "So now you know my name what's yours?" Haniel asked. "Lilith" I replied as I took the bottle of water away from my mouth.
"What a lovely name" She said as she looks at me. "So what brings you to a place like this?" She asked. I took a deep breath, I was contemplating if I could trust her. "You can trust me, I might be off help" She said. "I'm going to the Castle of Iris" I said.
She looks at me in horror. "Why would you want to go there? Haven't you heard about the rumors that say no one has ever left that Castle alive?" Haniel asked. "It's just a myth, I've actually gone into the Castle and escaped" I said.
"Wait, if you've gone to the Castle and escape before. Why are you going back?" Haniel asked. I took a deep breath. "I need to rescue someone" I said. "I see.... As you can see it's hot right now, why don't we wait till the sun goes down before you begin your journey?" She said.
"I don't even know where I'm going to..." I said. "Why don't you rest first" Haniel said. "Do you know where I could find the Castle?" I asked. "....No" Haniel said. "You do know" I said. "...I... I don't" She said. "You hesitated to reply" I said. "No I didn't" She said.
"Yes you did" I said. "Look... It's best If you stay away from that Castle, it's for your own safety" Haniel said. "Um... Hello? I just told you that I need to rescue someone" I said. "You have to understand that there somethings are best unsaid and unknown" Haniel said
"Are you saying I should give up? I've come too far just to give up" I said. "I know.... It's a good thing that you made an effort to save him but when the odds are against you what are you to do then?" Haniel asked.
I hate it when people try to discourage me, I am an ambitious person, nothing she says right now would stop me. "If you wouldn't help me, just say so okay? You don't have to discourage me" I said. I stood up to leave but she held my arm.
"This person you want to save, you must be really close to him" Haniel said. "Yes... I gave him my word that I'd always protect him.... And I never go back on my word" I said. "It's a suicide mission.... I can't believe I'm following you to my doom but since I've got nothing to do, I'd help you" Haniel said.
"Thank you" I said. "But I must warn you, Ixia has the Castle heavily guarded so it would be quite difficult to enter and must certainly impossible to leave..... So it's your call" Haniel said. "I'm willing to take the risk" I said. "Okay then, get some rest we leave in the evening" Haniel said.
I can't believe I would finally help Benjamin. Later in the evening, Haniel and I began our journey. We both rode her horse. The desert was pretty cool, I had no idea it could ever be this peaceful and quiet.
I could feel the wind on my face, the moon is so bright and beautiful. I looked at Haniel and alot of questions flooded my mind. Who is she? Where is she from? What is she doing in the middle of nowhere? Is she a Vampire or a Witch? I kept asking myself these questions.
Haniel looks at me, she gave me a warm smile. "Haniel, I have alot of questions to ask" I said. "Sure, feel free" She said. "Where are you from? What are you doing in the middle of the desert? Are you a Witch or a Vampire?" I asked.
"There are things that are left unspoken" Haniel said with a weird time. She seemed angry. "Are you aware that curiosity is a disease and it kills faster than any other disease?" Haniel asked.
"I just wanted to start up a conversation" I said innocently. "Don't be so curious about my personal life..... My job is to deliver you to the Castle of Iris and that's it. Let's focus on the mission" Haniel said. I was quiet throughout the entire ride.
We stopped for a while, Haniel tied the horse to a tree. She walked forward with a binocular, she looked through the binocular, when she was done she handed it to me. "I told you the security is tight" Haniel said.
I looked through the binocular, I saw alot of men on the rooftop and some at the gate. "The only way to enter is if we walk through the front door" Haniel said. "What? Are you serious? Isn't there any other way?" I asked. "Or we could find the secret passage" Haniel said.
"Secret passage?" I asked. "Yes... It should be right about there" Haniel said pointing to an old gate. "How do you know about this secret passage?" I asked. "I've heard stories of this place, so it's a surprise that it's real" Haniel said. "You nevet believed it was real?" I asked. "Yes" She replied.
"Let's go then, you wouldn't save you friend by standing around" Haniel said. I find Haniel to be strange, very strange but since she can help me find Benjamin I'd have to put my doubt aside for now. Chapter 111
