Should I Leave?

Carly's parents had suggested Joshua to stay in his house for the time being. Because Carly seemed to be very sensitive and all-time irritated by even just his presence since that rough night. Joshua couldn't do more but oblige. He packed some of his stuff when Carly was still fast asleep that morning, thinking about what could be happening if he left Carly alone with her family. Would she tell everyone what he said that evening? Would she blame him for things? Would she make things up and say bad things about him? Would his parents in law discreetly be offended behind him and say bad opinions about him? Would they brainwash her to leave him or something?

His negative thoughts wandered around as he walked away with the luggage and a backpack leaving Carly's bedroom. Spacing out, he didn't notice that Carly was already awake and sat on the couch in the living room. He just strolled with a hand dragging the luggage and the other one holding his phone, checking messages.

"Yes, you better be off, you freak," he suddenly heard Carly's cold voice.

He stopped and stood in surprise, looking in Carly's direction. He lost his breath for a second or two.

"Carly, honey, you're awake? I thought you were still asleep," he said as he approached her.

" Don't you even think to come closer, you piece of sh*t," she spoke sternly, her swollen eyes piercing a death glare at Joshua, making him discontinue his step towards her.

His posture softened, his face lowered with anxiety, he didn't know what to tell her to calm her down before he left. Joshua was pretty much afraid that something bad would happen while he was away. He was determined to risk the morning and put everything on a bet when he finally walked again, reaching out to Carly.

"Honey, I'm sorry, what I said was rubbish, yes, I was too sad to think clearly," he tried to persuade her, his arms stretched out to embrace her.

Carly stepped back and looked up at him coldly and fiercely, "Don't you dare."

Joshua didn't stop and touched her shoulders, slowly trying to wrap his arms around her as just in instant Carly brushed them off and pushed him away. Joshua jerked by her hands pushing him on the chest, and even then she continued to harshly revolt. She started to screech and snatch his phone away.

"Get out of here, you freak!!" she shouted more, throwing the phone onto his face.

Joshua groaned in pain as the phone hit his chin and fell to the floor.

The loud noise sent Carly's parents into the room, and Carly stopped her rebellion as she saw them. She snorted harshly and walked out hurriedly, her deep grief and anger were clearly pictured on her face.

Joshua arrived at his house in almost three hours, the traffic was horrible and he couldn't focus on the road, his mind was too much occupied all the time. He had been worried about anything and everything that he couldn't even mention one by one. He didn't know what to do, he felt he was losing his hope and his wife as well, not only his baby a few months ago. His family was falling apart and his heart was broken.

He let go of the luggage of his grip and tossed his backpack on the floor, and he was finally falling himself, all of the burdens pushed him down and walked over him at that very moment.

He cried out.

Everything that he had been putting up with, had now torn him apart. Nothing could be done anymore. After all of those years of attempts, that wasn't the beginning of the happy family that he would ever imagine. It was now the beginning of his sorrow. The moment Carly's parents told him to leave Carly alone, that was the end of everything, all of his previous efforts.

There was nothing more he could do. Going forward everything will be worthless.

He gave up.
