While Oliver was enjoying himself in japan it was not the case for Ryan. Today Leeds was facing bristol rovers away from home and this match holds quite the importance as winning would earn Leeds their first point in the points table.
Amidst the competing shouts and singing between Leeds fans and bristol rovers fans, the Leeds team bus arrived at the designated spot. Ryan then led the team as they entered the locker room to get ready to change and prepare for warm-up.
After changing and warm-up were finished the match finally began at 3:00 pm sharp. Leeds began to gain possession of the ball early on and were looking dominant on the field. They got a few early scoring chances but failed to convert them into goals.
At around the 28th minute, Leeds finally ended the deadlock.
When David Prutton got the ball in the bristol half, he began to move towards the bristol goal post. It looked like he was about to perform a lateral dribble before raising his foot to shoot.
While prutton managed to catch the attention of bristol defenders Lewandoski managed to sneakily make his way near the bristol goal. By that time prutton had already reached the middle of the penalty area, and beside him were three bristol rovers' defenders. He raised his foot… but he did not shoot. Instead, he passed the ball behind him! Where it was completely open!
All of the bristol rovers' players had been fooled by him! When a white-colored figure dashed past from beside him, bristol rover's goalkeeper, Steve Phillips was still standing in the middle of the goalpost.
"Robert Lewandoski!"
Leeds' youth sensation received prutton's beautiful pass at the corner of the goal area and shot without hesitation! The ball rolled into the goalpost at a flying speed!
"Goal! 1:0! Twenty-eight minutes into the first half, the away team, Leeds united takes the lead against the bristol rovers! Leeds are continuing their impressive form in the league today as well."
A wave of cheer from Leeds's fans resounded throughout the stadium seeing their team scoring the first goal.
After the first goal was scored, the remainder of the first half went relatively smoothly for Leeds united. bristol rovers could not mount any sort of attack in front of the Leeds goal and were constantly kept at the back foot by the Leeds united players. However, the Leeds player didn't get overconfident from their early lead as the field was ever-changing and A slight mistake could cause the momentum to be seized by the opponent team.
Along Leeds continued attempt at the goal, The first half soon came to an end with Leeds united, the away team temporarily leading bristol rovers by one goal to nil.
After a 15-minute break, the game soon restarted where Leeds managed to win a corner in the first minute of the start of the half. Without any dillydally alba quickly went towards the corner flag to take the corner kick, and immediately send the ball into the box. Lewandoski quickly managed to avoid the bristol rovers players before jumping to meet the incoming corner ball close to the far post.
But just as he angled his body to plant a header towards the goal, he felt a tug on his shirt, and his upward momentum instantly diminished—almost to zero. He tried to shrug off the player holding his shirt by flailing his arms around, but all his efforts were fruitless. The person holding his shirt didn't relent in the slightest and kept dragging him back to the ground.
So, he watched helplessly as the ball flashed by him, missing his head by mere centimeters. He could only quiver with indignation, sighing at the missed chance, as his body descended and landed back on the green. Had it not been for that tug, he would have, without a doubt, connected with the corner kick and attempted goal.
when Robert looked back he saw matt health grinning a smirk at him and he looked at the ref who seemed oblivious to the pull and just told him to carry on the game. He could only sigh, shaking his head slightly before shoving health out of the way and moving towards the center half to prepare for the bristol goal kick
The Leeds players quickly managed to intercept the goal kick and mount another attack towards the bristol goal. when Lewandoski received the ball he once again felt a tug at his shirt and was brought down. The person who pulled him was still matt health and the referee didn't blow the whistle this time as well frustrating Lewandoski. Lewandoski quickly got up and called for the referee " ref there was a tug in my shirt surely it's a free kick'' the referee just said there wasn't any foul and signaled to continue the play.
On the sideline, Ryan was irritated seeing Lewandoski being constantly harassed by the bristol defense. He could already see the frustration in lewandoskis face. All of Ryan's protest was also turned to a deaf ear by the referee further souring his mood.
Health's foul was so skillful and stealthy that he managed to get away with fouls more times than he did not. he would only pull on Lewandowski's shirt or kick his calf when the referee's eyes were elsewhere. thanks to that he hadn't even incurred a yellow card even after such rough play
In the 76th minute, the referee finally caught health's action when he attempted a slide tackle on Lewandoski bringing the young pole down.
when Lewandoski saw the tackle he quickly tried to move his body out of the direction of the tackle but he felt a stinging pain in his knee while he tried to dodge it and thus was unable to avoid it bringing him down. He quickly let out a cry due to the immense pain in his knee. The referee was quick to notice him and called for the match to a halt. The referee then quickly called for the medical team and seeing the medical team arrive moved toward health, and gave him a red card. Seeing Lewandoski unable to move his leg due to the pain the medical team quickly brought him on the stretcher out of the pitch for further treatment.
Health felt a little guilt coursing through him when he watched the medical personnel help Lewandoski off the pitch, he didn't mean to injure the kid. Be that as it may, he also understood that football was the sort of game that came with the usually unavoidable risk of injury. When he gave it his all to win, whether when tackling or even committing a foul to prevent a goal, he would end up hurting another player at one point. This case was no different. So, he forced himself to push the negative thoughts to the back of his mind—and focused on the Leeds free kick.
Beckford came forward to take the free kick and managed to fire the ball towards the top corner scoring the second goal for Leeds united. The rest of the match remained uneventful and thus the match finished 0:2 in favor of Leeds united, thus officially opening their account in the point table. However the players were not celebrating their win, Lewandoski had just been sent to a nearby hospital and the players were anxiously waiting to hear about his condition. They could only pray that the young lad won't suffer anything serious
