Mellinger's High School for the Enabled.
Big, bold letters neatly engraved across a large stone in front of the school yard. This is where my plan would begin.
Kill all Enabled.
The sun beat down in waves on not only myself but also several other students around me. We waited for the Headmaster to arrive and give us the official first day tour of the building, but as we waited, students grew impatient as he had yet to arrive. I tried activating my power to see if he was just behind a wall, out of sight, but lucky for me, he wasn't.
The first step in killing an Enabled is understanding their power. If you don't know what they have, you might shoot them, just for them to catch the bullet.
Behind me, two students, one male, and one female, argued with little attempt at being discreet.
'Animals', I thought to myself. Seeing them argue with each other just moments after meeting for the first time made me boil with anger. I wished they'd fight and kill each other. But that's my job. I decided for now I should tune in to the argument to see what could cause such a fight.
"YOU WERE TRYING TO KNOCK IT OUT OF MY HANDS!" This one had long, brown hair and the same disgusting look of superiority on her face that all Enabled do. In her hands, she held what appeared to be a cracked cell phone.
Across from her, there stood a short and scrawny boy with black hair and a indifferent look on his face. "Maybe if you weren't such a fatass, you wouldn't have bumped into me."
Good. His words might start a fight, which means I could document the powers of at least two of my classmates.
"What the fuck did you just say to me? Do you want me to break your legs?" Something changed in the two of them as they both assumed what they would consider a fighting stance, their powers now activated.
The boy's hand began to glow as he pointed it at her, firing energy based projectiles at the girl. While they weren't all that fast, they left indents on the concrete as the girl sidestepped. She jabbed at the boy's face, making connection with a popping noise. Then, it looked as though she hit him again with the same hand multiple times, all at once. It was like a barrage of punches, each finding their own unique spot to hit on the boy. She then kicked him to the ground, for good measure.
As many other students watched the fight with excitement, I took a mental note of both their physicality and their abilities. One of them was a male, three inches shorter than me and he appeared to lack both physical and martial training from the way the fight had gone. His ability allowed him to shoot a projectile that moved at a somewhat average speed, but it could deal significant damage to his surroundings. The other, the female, was similar in height to him, with a somewhat wide but muscular build for a girl. She seemed to be trained in boxing. Her ability allowed her to attack several times with the same limb rapidly. While I hadn't gotten a full understanding of her ability's limits because of the fight's short length, I now knew two of the twenty Enableds around me and what they were capable of.
Just then, a man descended from the upper floor balcony of the school, seemingly gliding on air as he landed. The headmaster.
"Fighting on the first day, are we, Mr. Pettigrew and Ms. Ramon? For shame. Please escort yourselves to the assistant principal's office and wait there. Now, for the rest of the group, allow me to tour you around the building, before you arrive at your classroom."
The rest of the tour was pretty average, and I continued to observe the other students. There was two in specific that I wanted to associate myself with. While both would eventually die, in order to avoid suspicion at school, I would have to make friends. One was a girl with medium length hair named Evie, who was talkative and confident. Another was a boy named John, who had completely ignored the fight that had occurred earlier. Perhaps we had something in common?
Finally, we arrived at Room 201, a classroom for freshman who possess average to above average abilities. Yet again, my planning had been perfect. My power, which increases my strength and allows me to see and hear through walls is useful enough to land me in a class where I won't be picked on for being weak, but I won't be admired as a particularly strong student, either. We all took our seats and we're given 30 minutes to socialize before school started.
Now was when phase one would begin. The first 15 minutes were spent making small talk, and figuring out what everyone's abilities were through conversation. I made sure to memorize and later document all information I gathered in a notebook. With the remaining time, I needed to befriend the two students I took note of earlier. Lucky for me, they were already talking to each other. If I entered now, I would secure a spot as a friend to both of them.
With my bloodlust at an all time high, I walked calmly toward my first two victims.
