A 'humble' school beauty

The girls seemed to notice Adelia and Willow as some of them came to surround her.

"Adelia, you're here! Ah, how can you be so beautiful? When you wear your hair down, it floats in the wind and looks so pretty with its raw beauty and when you wear them up, it gives you a calm and elegant look. Please tell us what are your secrets school flower, ah!"

They all showered her with praises hoping to curry favor with the school beauty. After all, she was the most beautiful girl in the school with a good family. Only she was the one qualified to be with the male god with her unparalleled beauty and grace.

These girls knew that Charlie Taylor is an enchanting treat they could only admire from afar. There was no point in being jealous and scornful to the goddess.

More than half the female population was still circling Charlie, hoping to get a few good glances before class began.

"Goddess Adelia, what cream do you use, ah? Your skin looks so smooth like jade. Even in the sunlight, no imperfection could be seen~"

"God Charlie looks handsome today as well, right Adelia? You two really are a match made in heaven. School flower and school grass, truly a perfect pair, ah~"

The girls all gave affirmative nods as they continued to flatter her.

Adelia smiled as she thought about how wrong all of them were. If only if they knew that the god Charlie they're currently so enthusiastically shipping with her wouldn't be with her or any woman. The only one in his eyes would be her brother, whom they didn't notice at all.

Adelia was secretly happy with all that flattery. As a narcissist, the thing she loved the most was attention. What she wanted to say to all that praise was, 'I'm perfect and I know it' but a beauty still needs to be modest. Waving her hand, she pretended to be embarrassed, "Ah, not at all. I'm not that pretty."

Immediately, sounds of protest rang out as they continued to lick her feet.

"No, no need to be modest, Goddess Adelia!"

"Yes, yes. Our school beauty is really perfect. Pretty and modest~"

'You're really enjoying this, aren't you, Adel?' Willow asked disdainfully through their mental connection.

Even though he was right next to her, he felt completely left out with this self-indulgent narcissist girl and her followers. As her brother, he knew her well enough to know that the thing she loved the most were compliments, even if they were just empty flattery.

'What's wrong with enjoining the God given, Will? This attention and popularity was given to me by God, so it's only right that I thoroughly enjoy this.'

'What about the plot, then? Weren't you so enthusiastic about it before?'

'What's the rush, Willy? Let's take it a little slow, okay?'

"..."

Willow was speechless as he saw her smiling humbly while swallowing more and more compliments without a hint of embarrassment. Who was the one rushing the plot before?! If she's going to be like that, why should he care anyway? It's not like he's dying to be pushed down.

The morning passed uneventfully as they sat through classes. Adelia, who wasn't at all enthusiastic about lessons, slept through most of them while Willow paid somewhat attention.

Lunch break arrived. Even the cafeteria here was no less than a five-star restaurant. There were a variety of cuisines and dishes to choose from.

Willow wasn't particularly picky and decided to just go with whatever.

They both filled their places before searching for a place to suit. Since Adelia wasted so much time in choosing, most of the tables were already filled, making it hard for them to find a seat.

"Oh, Will, let's advance the plot or we'll get negative reviews."

"You still remember about the plot, Adel? I thought the only thing you cared about was your fangirls."

"Oh, please." Adelia scoffed, "-That was a moment of impulse. As much as I enjoy the attention, it's not above my life. My life is the most important thing to me, okay?"

Willow really doubted that though.

"Hey! don't make that face like you don't believe me. Every human loves his life the most. I'll only be able to enjoy the attention if I live, right? What is the use of fame if I die anyway?"

"Now, for the plot. Since our fateful encounter on the way to school was a failure, let's have other the other way." Adelia thought for some time and suddenly exclaimed, "Have you heard about the fall of love?"

"Um no-"

Although he never heard of it, the name was so weird that he already dreaded his coming days. Just from where does his sister get such weird ideas?

"Ugh, don't you watch animes or mangas? The female lead crashes into the male lead, they fall on top of each other and share a romantic moment. Both of them are all blushy and flustered with the sounds of Badum-Badum in the background!"

"-Ah, that one."

Willow didn't watch any shoujo animes, this was a trope so common and widespread that even he knew of it.

"What you have to do is, bump into the male lead, fall on the top of him and share that moment!"

"-But isn't that the female leads job?"

Adelia looked at him with a face that clearly said 'just how clueless are you'.

"You're the bottom. You play the female part. Simple as that. Now, after we find a place to eat, bump into him! We need the reviews, Will!"

"W-what?" Willow said, "But I'm a man! I won't play the female's part!"

If looks could kill, he would've already dropped dead by the murderous glare Adelia was giving him. "Willow, my dear brother who totally isn't going to make me die with him just because he's straight, you wanna live or not? What's more important, your straightness or your life?"

"...Is straightness even a word?"

Forcing a smile as many eyes were watching, she tried to keep her face normal. "Will, please just do it. It's for the plot. And yes, straightness is a word. Probably."

"But, how do you expect a straight man to do-" Willow was at a loss at words as he tried to pick an appropriate word. "T-that kind of thing with another man!" He shouted, flustered.

He was so focused on his sister and he didn't even notice the somewhat heavy plate in his hand swaying and a person coming in his direction.

The other boy was also walking with a somewhat dazed look on his face, without regard for everything else.

A disaster was about to happen.

"Why are you making it sound like I'm making you climb in his bed or something? Well, not just yet anyway." Adelia shrugged, "You're overreacting. It's just a fall, Will! "

Willow blushed. "Wh-what climb in the bed Adel?! I won't climb into some dude's bed-"

He was so embarrassed that he didn't see a guy right ahead of him and instead of sidestepping, heavily bumped into him. His plate flew out of his hand due to his fall and landed squarely on that guy's white shirt. Both of them fell on their butts in opposite directions as people turned to see what was the commotion about.

"Isn't that god Charlie?"

"OMG, he looks so hot with food on his shirt!"

"Hey, is that shirt for sale? I'll cherish it as my family heirloom forever!"
