A very rational hero

Some of his common sense returned as he hurriedly tried to dial the police.

But alas, it was too late. Snatching away his phone, one of the yellow guys with a monkey-like face sneered, "Don't mess around, boy, if you know what's good for you."

One of the red ones, probably Adelia's people, shouted, "Oi, you punk! What are you doing here? It's 'our' order!"

"What's your order, huh? This is ours. Now get lost, will ya?"

'Can you all please stop referring to me as an object?' -Was what Willow wanted to shout, but decided not to since he wanted to preserve his body in one piece.

The rainbow ones just stood there, looking at the exchange like Willow. Soon fists were flying as the red and yellow teams engaged in a full-fledged war.

"Willow Astor! I'm here to save you!" Charlie cried as he came running from the corner. This was the dialogue Athanasia had almost dug into his mind last night so that he won't come off as cold again. Although he highly doubted this cringe line was going to do him any good, it's still better than his usual awkward silence.

"Don't be afraid, I'll save you..." He trailed off when he saw the chaos in front of him. Two groups, red and yellow, were engaged in a fierce fight, while Willow, his longtime crush who was perfect, amazing, beautiful, and basically someone even god is jealous of, stood there frightened. This was his chance!

B-But hey, weren't there too many people here? Didn't his sister book 8 people with their mouths stuffed with money?

Also, weren't they supposed not to do any real violence? Just...What was going on?

Now, in action novels, the male lead is so overpowered that he can fight 20 gangsters, each with a better physique than him, single-handedly. He only ever gets a scratch on his face or something for which the female lead rips out her dress and they share a romantic moment. That scratch too is gone and forgotten in the next chapter.

But Charlie was aware of his abilities. He knew that he couldn't fight them all at once. He was a romantic novel lead, after all. Even though he was still far above the masses, this was something reserved for action guys only.

That's right, the male lead is also wise. He knows his boundaries.

So of course, he did the rational thing.

"Uh, Willow, should I call the police?" He mouthed to the scared boy who was standing there shivering. Nodding his small and cute head furiously, his very perfect Willow gave his affirmation. Oh, how beautiful his black hair looked lightly swaying in the wind. Being as perfect and beautiful as him might even be considered blasphemy to god-

The situation escalated to another level and there was blood. Being the very rational person he was, Charlie decided to call the police first, putting his Willow worshipping routine on hold for now.

Soon, there were sirens and the cops arrived. The red and yellow ones were arrested but thankfully kept their mouths shut. Charlie didn't know about the red ones, but his sister definitely paid the yellow ones enough to not spill something.

When the police came to the rainbow ones, there was quite a ruckus.

"Why are you taking us? We didn't even fight, dammit!"

"We're just honest gangsters with principles! We didn't even know about the order they were talking about!"

At this, both Willow and Charlie averted their eyes guiltily.

After confirming that rainbow didn't do anything, they were released while the yellow and red ones were sent to the police station.

A little awkward, Charlie stood there silently. Although his posture and expression looked quite calm on the outside, inside, he was anything but calm.

'What should I say to him? Oh god, please help me. It's so awkward! I wanted to make a good impression, but why is this happening?! I wasn't prepared for this! What should I say...'

While he was still freaking out, Willow approached him somewhat awkwardly. "Uh-...Um, Charlie, thanks for saving me...I guess."
