The annual fiesta

The curtains were drawn on the stage. The lights in the hall were on as various people came through and searched for their seats. The places were already marked with exclusive name tags, not unlike a fancy award show.

The stage was decorated with oriental flowers and a banner that read 'Annual fiesta' hung overhead. Many famous faces could be seen in the crowd. Being the first ranked school in the city, almost all the children from the influential families of the area studied here.

Robert checked his phone as he looked around. "Hmm... Seems like we're in the front row, Alex. Let's go."

The man behind him nodded. Robert was wearing a loose fit coat with a black turtleneck. Although the attire was casual, it highlighted his slender figure. Alex wore a close fitted suit with his hair styled up.

Standing together, they really looked like the two types of ideal men. A few ladies couldn't help but blush, in awe by such an enchanting sight.

They settled in their seats, waiting for the event to start. Last night, Willow told Robert that some things changed, and they'll be doing a play tomorrow. Previously, Robert and Alex were very passive about this whole event and weren't even planning on going as Willow's class wasn't doing anything.

As they weren't thinking of going before, each of them had their respective things scheduled on that day. Robert had an interview with a financial magazine while Alex had a promotional live stream for his new movie but since Willow and Adelia took part, they simply couldn't miss it. Family always comes before work, after all.

Robert took a few photos eagerly. "Aren't you excited, Alex? This is the first time Willow ever took part in anything! Although Adelia sometime does these types of things, Willow has always been somewhat withdrawn and shy, right?"

Alex nodded, amused at him getting excited like a little kid.

"You know, I feel like we haven't been spending as much time together with the children as before. You were busy with your movie, while I had my hands full with the new subsidiary company. We don't even know how much progress Willow has with his sweetheart!"

"She isn't his sweetheart yet, darling. Probably."

"Exactly! That's the point! What kind of parents are we, we don't even know how our child is doing."

Alex smiled and took his hand before suggesting, "Okay, okay, whatever you say goes. Let's take the kids out for a meal after this, alright? Then, we'll go watch a movie or something...Kinda like a family outing."

Robert beamed, pleased at the suggestion. "Yes! Let's do that. I wanted to do something like this for so much time-"

"Hello, my bestie and his husband!" A female voice sounded from behind as a blond woman shoved her face between them.

"I'm not your bestie," Alex said sourly, but the small smile on his face still gave his real thoughts away.

"Whatever, bestie. Anyways! I'm back from France. The kids don't know yet, it's a surprise I prepared. Yay! Aren't you guys excited for the few days you'll get the honor of being with me?"

She looked back and forth, expecting a response. Alex didn't seem to have any intention of replying as he turned his head back to the front, ignoring her.

Robert greeted her with a hint of apology on his face, "Hello, Adele. It's great to see you back. It seems that Alex is a little..." He trailed off, trying to search for an appropriate word. After a pause, he continued awkwardly, "-Irritated at something else?"

The blond woman, Adele, waved off his apology offhandedly. "No need to be so polite. As if I don't know this guy's shitty nature. Childish jerk."

Robert laughed awkwardly at that. Alex's patience finally seemed to wear off as he put an arm around Robert and snapped, "Can you 'please' stop hogging my darling, Adele? Go stick to your husband or something."

Adele could only 'tch' and roll her eyes at that. She knew this guy's crappy personality better than anyone else anyway. "Whatever, Mr. grumpy. Our seats are quite far, so I won't be gracing you guys with my presence for any longer."

Alex didn't turn around, but his usual frown was relaxed as he laughed under his breath, at Adele's annoyed face. When he still didn't look back to at least bid her farewell, Adele could only shrug in defeat. She walked off, but not before making some 'special' faces at this tsundere brat.

"Stupid woman."

"Oh, I surely don't want to hear that from someone who has the maturity level of a 3 year old."
