Weakness

Solus was scared for his life at the moment. Who knew that simply asking a girl out would lead to his current situation? I guess if anyone knew, it would be Eric. As the son of a well known General in Bright City, Eric was used to having his way. Solus made the mistake of asking out a girl that Eric was courting. That girl was Abigail. Abigail wasn't the most beautiful girl in school by any means. Although she had a kind personality, that wasn't why Eric was dead set on having her become his girlfriend. The real reason for that was that Abigail was the daughter of the governor. Riker was the governor of Brightstar Planet. Riker was the one who held the most powerful position on the planet so it made sense that Eric was trying to cozy up to Abigail and was infuriated when Solus got in his way.

Who would care about Solus anyways? Solus was a poor boy from a poor family. He wanted nothing more than to be spared from this current atrocity. Because Abigail had a kind personality, she never made Solus feel like he was inferior in any way. After knowing her for around 3 years in middle school, they were finally in high school and he got up the courage to ask her out. Believe it or not, she actually said yes! Unfortunately, Eric was nearby and overheard the conversation. That's when this all started.

Solus was on his way home. He usually walked because he really did not live far from the school. As Solus was walking down the street leading to his house, he was once again taken in by the beautiful scenery. Brightstar was a tourist planet. Beautiful islands dotted all over the 80 percent ocean covered planet. What was really unique about planet Brightstar was the fact that each island had a completely different climate and scenery. The current island that Solus was living on was called Bright Island. It was actually the capital island on the planet Brightstar. Bright Island was known for its tropical climate, so all year long it was around 80 degrees fahrenheit. Palm trees lined most of the street and everyone could be seen wearing summer clothes.

In order to get home, Solus usually took a shortcut that involved going through a poorly lit alley. Ironically, it was darker in the afternoon than at night like the current time due to the street lights that came on due to a schedule. It was in this alley that Solus was currently scared for his life.

"You fucking pleb. What the hell gave you the gall to dare ask out the girl that I, Eric, has his eyes set on?!"

Eric was standing over Solus in the alley. It hadn't taken more than a few well placed punches and kicks to bring Solas to his current state. Bloody, green hair was matted up around Solas' forehead. Cuts and bruises covered most of his body. As the son of a General, Eric was well trained in ways to inflict violence. Solus had been in the line of fire for this particular talent for well over an hour. At first, Solus had cried out for help. Unfortunately, due to his decision of taking a shortcut, he put himself in the position to not be heard by any passerbys. Even though Solas was still alive, his eyes were already dead. Solas lied prone on the ground, no longer crying out for help.

"You had better realize your place. If I see you even look in her general direction again... you'll wish you were dead."

Eric ran off without even looking back while Solas was left bleeding out on the ground. Solus' mind was completely blank at the moment. All of the thoughts of anger and desperation that had been filling his head just moments before were completely gone. All of the sudden, a bright light filled Solas' vision completely.

'This is it huh? This is the end? All of the stories I heard weren't wrong I guess... a bright light being the only thing I can see, and the absence of all pain and emotion except peace.'

Solus was surprisingly calm for someone who was on death's door. That is... until the bright white light turned to pure darkness. That's when Solas heard the voice. Sweet, and seductive. Solas thought he couldn't feel anything until chills ran through his entire body.

"Oh my, oh my... look what we have here. A poor little soul on the verge of death. Do you wish you weren't so weak right now? Do you wish that your position was swapped with the one who put you there?"

Solus of course felt that he would rather be the one inflicting pain than receiving it.

"If I could, I would kill him in a heartbeat."

Every time the voice spoke, the spine tingling chills got even stronger.

"People like him exist all throughout the universe... preying on the weak and the poor. What if I gave you the chance to put all of these people into their places? Of course, I require something in return. I want you to make the universe drown in blood. I want the screams of those who are weak and those who are strong to drown out the sounds of life in this universe. Do you except?"

The chills were even stronger now. Solus felt the strong desire to raze the universe to the ground forming inside of him. If he could enter into this situation simply because he asked a girl out... then why shouldn't he raze the universe to the ground?

"I accept."

After Solus spoke those words, the light disappeared. An excruciating pain flooded through his entire body. He was alive... and he was determined to make the world pay.
