Resolve

Two days after the incident inside the alley, Solus found himself sitting inside of a motel room that he rented for a week. With barely any savings to his name that was all he could afford.

'This must be the place...'

In front of Solus was a computer opened to a certain webpage. The webpage read, 'Blood and Bones' at the top and gave a description of an organization that catered to the darker side of the universe. After having his life saved by the voice in the alley, Solus resolved himself to make good on his promise. Solus' parents had died two years ago and he no longer had any attachment to the two bedroom apartment that he previously shared with them. After packing a single bag with some clothes, he took all of his savings and rented a cheap motel in the outskirts of Silver City. It was on a nearby island close to Bright City.

Solus was still young this year, being only 15 years old. In just one year, he would be old enough to start cultivating, and only then would he be able to start his journey to revenge. Usually, as one goes to school, he would have been taught a basic cultivation technique. Unfortunately, going that path was sure to keep him behind Eric all the way. If Solus stayed in school, there was no way he would be able to focus on his current plans with Eric breathing down his neck. In order to be able to get a decent cultivation technique, Solus needed money and for that he needed a job. This is what lead him to his current situation.

While checking the job listings in Silver City, Sous came across an interesting ad. The ad listing said, 'Blood and Bones: You take care of people for us and we will take care of you.'. Solus clicked on the ad and nothing happened. He assumed that either it was a faulty link or maybe it was some kind of sketchy dark web thing. Out of pure curiosity, and the fact that Solus had browsed the dark web a few different times, he opened up a different browser and typed in the link.

It turns out that Blood and Bones, was an assassination organization that was currently holding an open recruitment.

'Looks like i might be able to kill two birds with one stone.'

Solus filled out his contact information on the website and realized that he was very tired. He turned off his computer and then climbed into the motel bed nearby.

...

Solus woke up to the sound of a door opening. Quickly sitting up, he tried to take stock of his surroundings. What was once the dreary walls of the motel room, and the uncomfortable bed he fell asleep in, turned into pure white walls and a cold steel bench. It took but a few seconds for Solus to find the door that opened and forced him awake.

Standing where the door opened was a lithe woman dressed in black and red. The only reason Solus could tell is was a woman was by he voice since her face was also completely covered.

"You're finally awake. I don't know what they were thinking... bringing a kid who is not even old enough to cultivate here. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Get up and come with me."

Solus was filled with questions, but even though this was strange, he could tell he wasn't injured and this wasn't even close to as strange as what happened that day in the alley. Without voicing any concerns, he got up and followed the woman.

Upon entering the hall outside of the room there was finally some color other than pure white. A long corridor stretched for at least 100 yards while doors dotted the sides of the hall every once in a while. The floor and the ceiling were both a blood red color while the walls were a pale white like the color of bones. At the very end of the hallway, there was a set of double doors that were as black as night. These were the doors that Solus and the woman stopped right before.

"I've brought the boy, sir!"

Without waiting for a response, the woman opened the door and pushed Solus inside before closing it right behind him. Only two people were left inside the room. Solus, and a mysterious man sitting on a chair made of bone with a similar desk to accompany it. Currently, the man was hunched over the desk where he was writing something. After a few minutes of standing in silence, Solus was finally about to say something, but before he could, the man put his pen down and picked up a stamp that he used on the paper. As soon as he finished, a blur flashed by and the paper disappeared. Immediately after that, the man looked straight into Solus' eyes.

"Do you know why you are here boy?"

"Is it because of the ad I applied for last night?"

"Indeed it is. This is the Silver City headquarters for the Blood and Bones society. I'm sorry that we had to bring you in this way, but we can't have just anyone knowing the location of our headquarters. Afterall, many in the universe would have our heads on a pike."

The man then stood up. Solus immediately felt a sense of danger as if he was being locked onto by a predator. He was dressed in the same style of clothing as the woman from before. 'Without a doubt, this man is dangerous...' Solus thought.

"I'm going to ask you three different questions, and if I am satisfied, I will allow you to join out organization. The first question... Why do you desire to become and assassin?"

Solus thought about what made him decide to fill out his information in the first place. Solus was not necessarily evil or good in the first place, but he did desire revenge. As it turns out, he was actually a pretty petty person. When that voice spoke to him in the alley and gave him his life back and the power to get stronger, which he still had no idea about, he just decided to take it to the next level. 'Why not make the world drown in blood?' he thought.

"I have decided that I do not like this world one bit. In that case, I might as well fill it with blood."

The man pondered for a bit and then nodded.

"The next question... Are you willing to be alone for the rest of your life?"

Solus only pondered for a bit before he gave the man his answer.

"The only two people i've ever really cared about are already gone, sir. From now on, I'm only going to be worried about me."

The man once again nodded in response to his answer. This time though, the man walked up really close to Solus and bent down until they were at eye level.

"Last question... Are you willing to kill to prove it?"

Solus adapted a hardened look to his eyes.

"As long as I'm getting paid."

The man actually seemed a bit taken aback with his body language after hearing Solus' answer. WIth a light chuckle, the man spoke again.

"Usually, the initiation kill doesn't earn any pay, but I happen to like your spirit. I'll pay you as if I was posting a contract. We'll call this a class 9 assassination and that will earn you a total of 500 FED. Sloan, who brought you in here before will lead you out of here and escort back to your motel. She'll also keep an eye on you during your initiation. Good luck. You're target is someone you should already be familiar with... her name is Abigail."

As soon as Solus heard the man finish speaking, he was shocked. 'Do I really have to kill the girl that I have a crush on? Wait... she is also the governor's daughter! Actually it doesn't really matter. It's all because of her that I'm in this situation anyways.' As all of these thoughts were going through Solus' head, he felt a hand grab his shoulder. For a few seconds, everything was pitch black and then he found himself back in his motel room.
