With nothing but a flash, Solus was back in his motel room. 'Did I just get teleported here?!' Solus quickly looked around for the woman who was with him earlier but she was nowhere to be seen. 'She must be quite powerful to be able to teleport me all of the way here. Is this what cultivators are like? Having the ability to do something that amazing without the need for technology... That man from before must be even more powerful to be her boss. When will I have that kind of power?'
Even though Solus wasn't given a time limit, he figured it would be best to go ahead and start immediately with his initiation. Seeing his laptop that was right where he left it, he decided to do some research about his target. By doing a quick web search, he was able to quickly find some relevant information. As a happy coincidence, the Mayor of Bright City and his immediate family were actually coming to Silver City today. 'That's fortunate... I don't even have the money to make the trip to Bright City and now Abigail is basically being delivered to my doorstep.'
Solus quickly looked up the location of the Silver City Mayor's mansion and then left the motel room. The motel was located on the North side of the city while the Mayor's mansion was located toward the South so it was a little far away. Unfortunately, without having the money for a taxi, Solus had no choice but to walk the distance. It was still early morning and the Mayor of Bright City wasn't expected to arrive until around noon, so there was plenty of time to arrive and take a look at things.
Looking around, Solus thought the scenery wasn't quite as beautiful as Bright City. 'This is to be expected I guess since Bright City is the capital of planet Brightstar.' Instead of palm trees, there were hardly any trees. Most of the greenery consisted of small shrubs and bushes. Solus came across many people as he followed the main road towards the South of the city. Eventually, the pedestrians became less and the people started to dress nicer. Solus stood out a bit like a sore thumb he realized. 'I should find a way to hide myself since I'm getting closer to the target.'
Solus wizened up a bit and started travelling in the shadows as he made his way to the mansion. Eventually he caught site of the mansion. Walls that were 10 feet high surrounded the beautiful mansion. Only one entrance could be seen into the walls surrounding the mansion and it was currently being watched by two armed guards. In this world where both science and cultivation exist, people no longer had to rely solely on cold weapons and guns that could kill lower level cultivators existed. Seeing as Solus was not even a low level cultivator, this posed a big problem for him. 'It looks like I'll have to wait for Abigail to leave the mansion...'
Solus decided to continue to wait in the bushes he was hiding in near the mansion and not long after, an all black car could be seen driving down the road toward the mansion. When the car pulled up to the mansion, one of the guards came up to the window. After exchanging a few words, the guard motioned to the other guard to let them through.
...
Solus waited for hours, just staring at the gate. Unfortunately, he could not see through the walls as there were no openings. Finally, just as the sun was starting to set, Solus could finally see movement at the gate. Two girls could be seen walking out. One of the girls was Abigail and the other must have been the Mayor of Silver City's daughter. The two girls left the mansion unaccompanied and started walking towards the inside of the city. After checking that the coast was clear, Solus followed after them while keeping hidden.
Solus watched the two girls while they were chatting and laughing all the way. He watched as they went in and out of stores carrying different bags all the way. Apparently they simply went out to go shopping and enjoy each others company. Finally, Solus watched as the two girls entered into a very crowded clothing store. Solus followed suit this time since it would be hard to notice him in the crowd of people. Solus watched Abigail as she browsed for some clothes. Eventually, she appeared to have found something she liked and wanted to try on.
Abigail said something to her friend and then walked to the back of the building where the dressing rooms were. Solus followed behind her like a shadow and when she entered the room, he was right behind her. Thankfully, like most clothing stores, this one had loud blaring music. So when Souls came in and slammed Abigail's head against the wall, no one hear it. Abigail dizzily dropped to the ground and before she could put up any resistance, and Solus quickly placed his hands around her throat. Tighter and tighter he squeezed and harder and harder she flailed. Abigail made many attempts to get Solus to release his grip. Scratching, clawing, and hammering him with her fists... all attempts were futile as the life started slowly draining from her eyes.
Solus thought he would be nervous during his first attempted murder but it was quite the opposite. Feeling his hands around her throat, and seeing her struggling brought forth a strange feeling inside of him. As he saw the life leaving her eyes, the world went silent around him. It was like a breath of fresh air as his head had never felt so clear. Adrenalin and euphoria coursed through his body as he squeezed as tight has he could. After around two minutes of her struggling and the amazing feeling going through his body, Solus realized she had stopped struggling a bit ago. All of the sudden, the sounds of the world came back to him.
After Abigail's lifeless body left his grip, a power came from deep inside of him. Being a normal human that had never come into contact with cultivation, this was an experience that was completely new to him. Solus felt this power coursing through his body and could feel his muscles starting to become a bit stronger. Unfortunately this feeling left just as quick as it came about. Just when Solus was about to think about how to get out of the dressing room without being seen, he blinked and he was back in the room with the man who gave him this task to begin with. This time, it wasn't just the man in the room but also the same woman as before.
