My blood ran cold as my bones went stiff. I didn't dare move for fear of collapsing as the thoughts whirled. 

'Does this have to do with the call from earlier?' 'If I had told Dante, maybe he would have prepared' 'How could things go downhill so soon?' 'Did they h-'

"Here, shift." A flash of grey material brought me out of my head. "Be fast, we need to get out of here."

I swerved to see Ricky now shirtless, only in a pair of black denim. Peering downward, I picked up the shirt by my teeth and quickly dashed to a nearby tree where I hid and shifted.

Snatching it up from where I dropped it before I changed to my human form, I shrugged it on. My hands shaky, it took longer than necessary to button it up, my heart pounding in my chest.
