THIRD POV.
Anna left the building fuming as she made her way to the coffee shop. Why wasn't she enough? That was the only question that was in her head.
Vincenzo looked at his watch and it felt like time was at a standstill. He was tired and all he wanted was to just leave the office at the end of the day but Anna was not making it easy for him.
She was always mad at something and he wondered most of the time what was wrong with her. He looked at her. She wasn't the type of woman that he would go for even on the day that he didn't have a penny to his name.
She was attractive he couldn't deny that but it wasn't that just that. There were thousands of attractive women who wanted him.
She behaved like a child when she was a grown-up. All she could think about was what Vincenzo was doing and who he was doing.
It didn't matter though because their marriage wasn't your everyday marriage. If he could go back in the world wish that he never offered her that contract.
He wanted her woman who was powerful not just an emotional wreck.
There was nothing that Anna did that was important at work. All she did was stare at Vincenzo's door waiting to see who would come knocking.
He wanted a powerful woman and the way she was acting was not how powerful women acted.
He had thought that she would take the opportunity of being married to him to do something good in her life. But what had she done?
She could have done to school or started a business but not her brain was nothing thinking about that all she was focused on was Vincenzo.
________
Anna made her way to the counter and rang the bell hoping someone would come to serve her.
She tried to remember what muffins she had been sent but she had filled her brain with useless thoughts already.
"Hello how may I help you today?", said a voice behind the counter.
Anna loomed around trying to see who the voice belonged to but there was no one in sight.
"Hello I don't see you", Anna said.
"Sorry I was held up, how may I help you?", a girl with purple hair said as she made her way to the front.
"No problem, I want two black coffees, one with extra sugar and the other one with just one sugar", Anna said smiling.
"Okay will that be all?", the waitress asked her the sweet smile she had offered still plastered on her face.
"No actually and some blueberry muffins, I want eight but they are to be packed separately. Four in each package", Anna said as she fished for the card inside her purse.
"Okay take a seat there and ill bring your order", the girl said and went to the back again.
Anna took the seat next to her and waited.
Her shoes tapped on the floor and her hands were on the table with the same rhythm trying to pass time but her mind was elsewhere.
Vincenzo.
She thought that she had done everything right. Hadn't she been the perfect wife? What else was she supposed to do for him to like her?
Just as Vincenzo had thought she still thought she was a kid.
She had signed an agreement to a contracted marriage and still thought that she was going to have the life of a fairytale movie.
That after five years they would have two kids together and a cabin just by the lake?
She was stupid. She still behaved like a kid and still needed to grow up. She needed to know that in life you didn't always get what you wanted.
That just because Vincenzo had married her he was going to be loyal to her. It was something she knew would never happen since the first day but somehow in her childish brain thought that her childhood fantasies were going to come true.
Maybe Vincenzo had made the wrong choice entering a marriage with her. She was the stage type of woman who would make their husbands hate ever meeting them.
The problem was that she didn't know that she was doing it. Someone would say that she was still a kid and didn't know what she was getting herself into but even if she was a kid she was still supposed to use her brain.
Maybe Vincenzo would have just married Aurora. She understood the business and knew that this kind of thing did happen.
It would have benefited them both but Vincenzo was not thinking. To him, he thought that he had solved something that was bothering him for a while but all he had done was add more problems.
_____________
Vincenzo wondered where he would take Anna. There was no way people would believe that she was his wife. Yes, she was pretty but what if they went to a meeting of important people and she said something stupid and immature?
People would think lowly of him because as a man of his class and status in society he had a variety to choose from and still chose the worst of them all.
She was nothing but a pretty face and he had just realized that when it was too late.
The knock on his door startled him as he did not know that he was supposed to see someone. Yet again something that she had forgotten to tell him.
"Yes come on in", Vincenzo said as he waited to see who was on the other side of the door.
The door opened and revealed his father. The air in the room was intense anyone could sense what was going on.
"Father", said Vincenzo as he stood up.
The emotions on his face clearly showed that he would prefer to be everywhere else that in the office.
"You don't look so thrilled to see me did I ruin your plans for the day?", his father asked as he took a seat and looked around the office.
"No am just tired", Vincenzo said as he sat down in his mind trying to figure out what the old man was doing there.
"Well the day just started", his father said chuckling.
