Édouard waved at Charlotte, who was in the carriage. He had sent Rainard for her safety. After the carriage drove away, Édouard left for his study. He, first, changed into an outfit that would not grab much attention.

"Your Grace should ask the Lieutenant to accompany him. It may be risky to go alone," Charles said with a worried look.

"Charles, I thought about it last night. I should go alone. I will not be hurt," Édouard said.

"Prince Édouard should go with every possibility," Charles opined. "At least, with the Lieutenant around, the safety will not be compromised," he asserted.

"I know what I am doing, Charles," Édouard said and turned to him. He placed his hands on Charles's shoulders. "You take too much stress. Believe my words and have faith in me," he affirmed and pulled his hands back.

"I understand, Your Grace," Charles said and bowed to him.
